I agree that they will use the non AP telemetry data, but the AP data is more valuable to make the case with the regulators wrt autonomous safety.

I am pretty sure that the system is self calibrating,(e.g. the camera can see the car nose and calibrates known measurements against the image it is receiving.) Also note all the threads about the service center fixing simple things like chrome trim alignment that the factory robots screw up...

But they want to say: X billion miles driven on AP 2.0... not just collect the telemetry data.

Keep in mind that if you become a Tesla owner, you will move to the front of the line and likely get your M3 in late 2017 or Q1 2018. The 2013 Model S60's on the CPO website - Pre-Owned Model S | Tesla - are all going for about $50,000. So I think you can do it... unless the resale values...
