Oh that door lock, yes I actually ended up using it once because the first key I used didn't work that well and I got tired of trying to unlock the door. Now with OVMS it's a non issue but at least the emergency lock does work.

Does the 1.5 have this emergency lock? Or is it just 2.0/2.5?

When I was shopping for Roadsters I was conflicted on getting one with the 3.0 battery because of the degradation issues. I'm glad I did since if there is a problem at least someone already spent the money on the upgrade and not me! I really do hope they bring it back and fix the problems but...

For me it's right foot in, butt down into seat, then pull my left leg in with my arms to avoid hitting the dashboard. I'm 6' tall and 215 lbs. Congratulations on joining the family!!!

My worry with the display being on so much is the back light burning out, which was a forum post by someone else a few months back. I think in that case they were lucky to find a spare VMS screen or something.

My trunk tends to have the latch closing issue in the winter time, especially at night. The trick I use is to stick the ignition key in the trunk lock and turn, then close the trunk on each side. Usually this trick works for me.

I'm so sorry you are having this experience, I hope we can get more third party places in the near future that can work on these cars here in the NYC area.

Also check if the Roadster has the original battery replacement warranty, which transfers between owners via private sale. This would reduce your costs of a 3.0 battery upgrade, which is $29,000. The Roadster is quite unlike anything Tesla made afterwards. Getting in and out is tough at first...

Unfortunately the Michelin Pilot Super Sport is no longer available for the size. I couldn't find them anywhere, even online. So I went with the stock Yokohama AD07s on the rear. I'm getting them mounted at a local shop for $35/tire. I insisted on a floor jack and no lift.

I wish I could have experienced being an original owner back in 2008 when they started deliveries. Hardly anyone knew what this car or even company was and just the sheer level of innovation must have been quite fun. It still is fun, but truly was something special in the very beginning, knowing...

On a unrelated side note, do they send the Rangers out for Roadsters anymore or they've done away with that?

I was due for my NYS state inspection and of course my rear Michelin Pilot Super Sports are worn down to the wear bar and they won't pass me until I replace them. All that spirited driving! I can't find the Super Sports anywhere and my only option it seems are the AD07s at least on TireRack. I...
