Facelift without premium pack.. Frunk space?

I love my old frunk. When parked in the garage, the frunk is right by the door to get in the house and the fridge in the garage.

    Tire Rotation Pattern

Flipping the tires is done all the time on track tires. TireRack has done comparisons with running the tires in the "wrong direction" and the grip was the same as long as it's dry. When there was standing water, the grip was better with them running in the correct direction. And like you said...

    Tire Rotation Pattern

Also consider fllipping the tires. It's a few bucks at a wheel shop, but can really extend the life of your tire... unless you're in an area with a lot of standing water, then don't do it.

Giving up my M6 tomorrow for p90d. having remorse help ease my mind!

Finally someone who's a REAL car enthusiast. I got the Tesla for the wife and will not get rid of the E92 M3 for some time- crossing fingers my bearings don't fail. Taking a car on the track is a whole new level of awesomeness most people will never do. For every day driving, nothing will beat...

    Dilemma: 90D vs P90D?

Agreed, I don't covet those cars either, but they do offer supercar performance for a great price. Buy how often do you do a 0.60 run at full power? And how many of those runs would require it be done in 2.8 seconds vs. 3.5 seconds, or 4.5 seconds? Don't get me wrong, I live myself some G...

Be honest: is SCing on a long trip annoying?

It's a PAIN, especially if you're going some place like Las Vegas from Southern California. If you leave after noon, a 4-5 hour drive will be 5-6 hours and if you leave after 2PM, it's a 6-8 hour drive. In an ICE, I can drive 80-90mph (this is the speed of traffic) easily up hills, against...

    Dilemma: 90D vs P90D?

When and how often would you REALLY used the extra performance?? Why do you want the extra performance? Guys get into the stats and numbers and feel they need to best or highest level (me included back in the day), but after getting that extra performance for many thousands of dollars, I...

    Downgrade 70 > 60? Would you?

Each person has to make their own decision if 10 extra miles of range (MAYBE) and smoother acceleration when going up hill is worth $5,000, particularly when you live in California. .

    Downgrade 70 > 60? Would you?

How much extra range do you REALLY get by going dual motor? Particularly on a road trip? I just had a discussion with a guy at work today about this and I just don't see $5,000 in value to the second motor in SoCal. And if you're worry about snow or dirt, then you need proper TIRES for the...

Car Wash issue: Car goes into Park after doors are closed?

Car Wash issue: Car goes into Park after doors are closed?

So my wife brings the MS for a car wash and they said they have to do a "hand wash" out of the tunnel because the car goes into park when they close the doors so an employee has to sit in the car to put it into Neutral while it's in the tunnel. Is there any way around this? Thanks for any...

    Confessions of an i3 owner

Look into BMW coding. It's widely available at many shops and individuals on forums. It will allow the range extender to come on pretty much anytime. It's very safe as long as the person has the right program and knows what they're doing. There are whole forums on BMW coding. There's even a...

Basic Tire Change Questions for MS

Pretty much every tire shop will match TireRack's price if you ask. So check the price on TireRack and then call a local placed and see how much they're charging. If it's more, as if they'll match TR. Typical mounting/balancing price is around $35/hr. Some are less and some are more. Some may...

Driving to Vegas from LA for 1st time-- a couple questions

My buddy just went to LV from Yorba Linda area 2 weeks ago. He said the chargers are Barstow were SLOW. Not sure what was going on that weekend. There were 5 cars there and he left at 6AM. As for going 90mph... good luck. And for the people who don't know, 75mph from LA/OC to Vegas is SLOW...

70kwh packs in the refresh are really 75kwh

Someone needs to hack the computer. BMW's have "coding" via an app or lap top and some software via the OBD port. It allows you to turn on BUNCH of features already on the car but turned off by BMW-NA for one reason or another. To charge $3,000US to unlock a feature is just ridiculous, IMO. .

New Tesla Model S Lease as of 5/1/16

Cr@p like this is why Tesla NEEDS it's own Financial arm like all the other major manufacturer's have. It's where they make a TON of money too. Why does the guy who started Paypal need to use another bank to finance his cars? The lease was already TERRIBLE compared to other luxury manufacturers.

How does the updated 90D get 300 miles range??

I can't believe 25+ miles of range is from aero improvements alone. I'm really surprised there's no interest or even speculation on this. I'd be PISSED if I just picked up a P90 like my friend just did and lost out on that much range.

How does the updated 90D get 300 miles range??

I've read a couple articles saying the updated 90D gets almost 300 miles rated range and it's over 300 miles highway range? Anyone have any info on how Tesla extended the range some much? Sorry if it's a repost, but I didn't see anything posted yet. .

Will the Model S finally get a HUD (heads up display)??

There's been a LOT of chatter of the Model 3 getting a HUD since there's no dash and Tesla just hired a guy who made a HUD for a Beamer motorcycle helmet. From what I've read, installing a traditional HUD needs to be designed into the car due to the hole in the dash, but maybe this guy can make...

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

I don't think anyone here is saying you don't need to turn your head when you have your mirrors set properly. It just gives you a better picture of what's going on around you. It's like backing up with a back-up camera, there's still HUGE blind spots for pedestrians if you don't turn your head.

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

The tech may not be perfect yet, and it's pretty terrible compared to systems on cars that cost 1/4 the MS, but it's still no excuse for POOR DRIVING technique, or is it just laziness? When did it become ok not to turn your head when changing lanes?? Particularly when your mirrors are not set...

    Rage at a Supercharger Station

Anytime you make something unlimited, you're going to have issues if the supply is not unlimited. It's only going to get MUCH MUCH worse in 2 years. Even if the number of SC doubles, it's not going to be enough if the number or cars more than doubles. .
  34. A

Is doubling the amount of SC's going to be enough?

In SoCal, it's going to be insane. We have to wait regularly at the Fountain Valley and Culver City chargers and the Redondo Beach one's are often crowded. During a holiday weekend along the 5 or 405... good luck. .

Resale Value of Model s after Model 3

I now when my lease is up, I'm going to look VERY HARD at the 3. It appears to have similar passenger seating space as the S and it may ultimately may have better range than an S for tens of thousands less. Porsche 911 out - Tesla Model S in?

Nowhere did I say racer. That's a few levels up from High Performance Driving Events (HPDE). While one could definitely enjoy a Porsche on regular roads, there's NO WAY you can really appreciate what the car can do on regular roads without being a hooligan, even if there are no other cars...

Porsche 911 out - Tesla Model S in?

Unfortunately, 99% of Porsche owners will never track or autocross their cars. It explains why you see so many people posting here about how they left the 911 and never looked back or don't regret it at all. The MS is a great commuter car (except for the lack of center console and door pockets)...

How is the Model S as a family car?

Happy for you, but I don't want 3 heads next to each other in the back bouncing around in an accident. How is the Model S as a family car?

You ever go skiing with 3 kids on a 6 hr drive? Good luck fitting all that gear into an MS. Not to mention the lack of a DVD that keeps them busy for a few hours of the trip, and they all have space to sleep and not touch each other My van is plenty safe, mainly because we pay attention when...

How is the Model S as a family car?

So you have a Model X too?? Seems like the wife should be driving that if you need the 7 seats. MS would not replace my M3, so I doubt it'll replace your 911, but it depends on what you're looking for in a car. We have 3 kids aged 13, 11.5 and 10 and we fit fine. We drive the MS most of the time...

Suggested Tire Repair Policy for Tesla

I usually ask for a patch because that requires removing the tire so they can make sure it's ok. Not sure on which Tires to purchase?

SuperSports are the tires to get now, especially if you're not staggard because they have a pro-rated 30,000 mile warranty. They are very good for street grip and relatively quiet. The V12 evo2 are also very good, but not sure what their warranty is. They're cheaper and more than enough tire...
