    Side Repeater Camera - disconnect/reconnect - calibrate?

Also - I get that it's not entirely flush - but I shouldn't be able to see the top inner housing of the camera when looking down at it.

    Side Repeater Camera - disconnect/reconnect - calibrate?

Not true. Every fender camera I've seen - ebay, internet, model 3 parts catalog, etc. - does not have upper clips ... they have two slanted projections on top. To remove, you push the bottom and side clips, push out the camera housing from the bottom, then the top follows.

    Side Repeater Camera - disconnect/reconnect - calibrate?

The current camera is fine - it's just that it no longer sits flush to the fender on the top ... I've tried myself (via the help of youtube videos) to take out then reinstall .. but for some reason - can't get it to totally seat properly. I think it's a poor design - i.e., the top part of the...

    Side Repeater Camera - disconnect/reconnect - calibrate?

Had a body repair by what I thought was a great autobody shop (and tesla approved/certified), and they screwed up around the opening for the camera and might have damaged the camera housing itself. I've tried a few times to get them to repair - and they just don't do a good job. So - I'm going...

    Body Shop Cannot Preorder Parts

From my experience - parts were ordered and delivered within days (lower NY state). I have two Tesla service centers within 30 min of me. Had the repair done at a Tesla approved/certified shop.

    Side Repeater Camera - disconnect/reconnect - calibrate?

If you disconnect a side/fender camera, and then reconnect, does the vehicle/camera require re-calibration?
  7. D

Yeah ... body repair is pricey .. but this seems excessive

This is a Tesla-certified shop. One that was highly recommended by my local Tesla Service Center.
  8. D

Yeah ... body repair is pricey .. but this seems excessive

So, the estimate papers are from my insurance provider ... this charge is a line item for labor rate difference (their way to present it in their system I suppose). So, the labor rate for Tesla repair is about twice that of normal labor rate.

    minor body work

What Watts_Up said. If it involves any tweaking of an aluminum body panel - make sure your shop has experience with aluminum.
  10. D

Yeah ... body repair is pricey .. but this seems excessive

Not sure ... I don't have the estimate in front of me. I'll review again this evening and confirm. That said - it is a stellar auto body shop - really put me at ease, and looking forward to getting my car back.
  11. D

Yeah ... body repair is pricey .. but this seems excessive

It just indicated it was a "misc" line-item charge for repairing a Tesla ... not any addition to labor rate etc. All those things are itemized.
  12. D

Yeah ... body repair is pricey .. but this seems excessive

So - my minor blunder in a parking lot in december (ran into the back of someone) caused some damage. From 15 feet away, the only indication of any damage was a horizontal line (which was a split) on the front bumper, and the gap between the hood and the bumper in the front was slightly pinched...

    Michelin CrossClimate+

I got 18 inch ASA GT14s with the 235/45R18s CC+ for my P3D+ ... haven't mounted them yet. When I was researching such tires - I had some individuals claim that there were quieter than the PS4s. We'll see. Mounting this weekend.

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

Thinking of going with the Tsportlines. Anyone here have a referral code?

model 3 popping sound from backseat speaker

Good I found this thread. I've had this intermittently from a front dash speaker on the driver's side. It comes and goes. I've done a soft reset (for other reasons), and also just recently had a software update (28.3), which hasn't really done anything. Might be a temperature thing too...

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

Cool. The Engineering guy on youtube was about 1000 miles from home, but within 30 miles of a Tesla service center. He blew out two tires on his performance and one of the rims. $2600+.

Damn - that's nice ... thanks for this info!!
  18. D

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

Only issue with that - you hit a pot hole a decent distance away from home/Tesla service, and you could be stuck paying towing to Tesla, and having them charge you about $1300 for new rim/tire/mount/balance so you can use the car until you get your 18" wheels/tires.

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

Tirerack appears to have a number of 18" rims that will fit the perf. calipers ... and can keep the same overall wheel/tire diameter by selecting the right tire.

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

I was going to go with the Michelin A/S 3+ All Season on the 20s with the same 235/35 size... but was thinking the 20s with 35 series tires are soooo prone to pot hole damage. THe 18's with 45 series (or even 50) might be better - especially for the winter.

Recommendation for 18 inch wheels for Performance

When I go to a winter/all-season tire (October), thinking about getting 18 inch rims. Any recommendations for some that fit the Performance brake set-up?

Still have not had an update pushed to my car (on 2019.12.1.2)

I've been on 12.1.2 since May 4th (when I picked the car up). Still waiting.

    Remote Connectivity issues

Thanks Fred. Yeah - that's what I figured. I'm still waiting for the next software version, so, maybe this will be addressed in that version.

    Remote Connectivity issues

So, today, for the second time, my Model 3 has gone "off line" when parked - i.e., I can't remotely connect to it. It happened one other time, and with that time - when I physically got to the car, got in, the screen was blank ... and it took driving for a minute for the screen to come on, and...

Model 3 range is really about 220 miles

Exactly! This is supposed to be a fun car ... I think obsessing on getting least Watts per mile is a crazy. Just enjoy! If you want to stretch range a bit on long trips just be smart .. and you should easily hit close to the range numbers.

One week in - first 100% charge?

Cool. 100% for tomorrow trip it is!
  29. D

One week in - first 100% charge?

So, I'm just going to make most likely no more than 120-150 mile trip total (destination, maybe drive around then return). I was thinking of taking the charge to 100% right before I leave. That way I don't keep it at 100% for longer than 10 minutes, and get a lot of range and have plenty to...

What defects have you found at/after delivery?

Have had the Millennium Falcon now for 5 days (I’m still in WOW mode), so I’ve had some additional time to look the car over and notice anything. The only minor/major flaw (depending upon how important you think it is) is that one of the roof glass panels (the middle panel) is slightly mis...

    Challenging to drive efficiently ;-)

I'm sure I could, and will likely be better in the future, but I'm finding it VERY difficult to not keep taking my model 3 from 0 zero or low speed up to whatever almost as quickly (sometimes as quickly) as this car will allow me!! Especially in this first few days of ownership! Definitely not...

    Performance Waiting Room

What a weekend ... what a driving experience. Really enjoy pretty much everything about this car. I'm glad I sprung for the not-yet-ready-for-prime-time FSD ... did about 120 miles of highway driving, and loved when the car took over. Granted, I'm not using it YET on crowded roads, but...

    Performance Waiting Room

BOOM! It’s done. Picked up at about 5 pm this afternoon after going through it with a decently “fine toothed comb” ;-) To be honest, the car was almost flawless ... I couple of tiny issues on front/rear bumper (finish), but nothing major ... seriously- I was nitpicking. But the delivery...

OK... Tesla explanation regarding the VIN change. When Manhasset noticed I lived in Westchester County, they suggested (after I called them for a VIN) I pick the car up in their Mt. Kisco location. I said great ... makes sense ... (even though Manhasset is in Long Island, it is literally the...
