Why would they have to cover? In France and Italy they banned new short positions for 30 days, but they don't force anyone into covering. Is there any public info on the US gov plans regarding this? Also the french CAC 40 was down today 6% after they implemented the ban.

I'm not an expert like many of the guys here, but I find it interesting that people keep loading up on shares on the way down like there is a huge risk of a bounce any minute. Why don't you just wait for a confirmed bounce? Like two days in a row higher-highs / higher lows before loading up?

Yes, Tesla released this info in an investor update. But when you go to the model Y order page (just like probably most potential customers would do) there is still the following next to the price: "Production is expected to begin late next year" If this is outdated, they should fix it ASAP.

Just based on the official dimensions and first reviews. The Mach e is a CUV and it's significantly higher with larger cargo space. EDIT: just to throw in some numbers for comparison. The model 3 has a combined 15 cu ft cargo space (frunk + trunk), while the mach-e has 29 (rear seats up) + 4.9...

For $60k? I also think it's going to be challenging, but.... the thing is that the starting price is $43,895 - $7,500 (US credits) = $36,395 (for the select model). Obviously that comes with a bit lower range (230 vs 250mi) than the model 3, but it's a bit cheaper and significantly roomier...

  18. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Even most of the bears expect a delivery around 85k at this point, it would be absolutely shocking to have anything under that. I'd be more worried about the 10Q.

  20. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I thought that the SP drop was mainly because of the weak deliveries in Q1, the 700m GAAP net loss then the raise at $240. Q2 FUD might have been the reason from 210 -> 177, but the SP climbed back nicely since then.
  21. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The company itself guided between 90-100k. Then multiple times they re-iterated the guidance. Why is this a bad thing / surprising that the factset estimate is at the lower end of the guidance? It's a conservative estimate based on the information from the company.

Great achievement. Just for clarity: the May list doesn't include any of the US manufacturers (Ford, GM, FCAU) because they don't report monthly numbers.
  25. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well... they would miss their own guidance meaning that something prevented them to execute their own plan. Delivering 77k cars instead of 90-100k would put their 360-400k yearly guidance in danger. They also guided for a small loss for Q2. If they deliver less cars, that means a bigger loss...
  26. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

With all fairness, Tesla gave guidance for 90-100k. Then re-iterated it in the beginning of May officially. Then there were two leaks about record deliveries (see the electrek post above). So why would they expect a lower delivery number?
  27. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don't know. But I highly doubt that only short sellers contribute to this SP movement. Institutions are holding 57%+ of TSLA and only 20% of holders are retail investors. Just think about that what happens when they start to sell.
  34. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Like a 1 day 25%+ drop. Like what happened a few month ago to KHC or PCG. It feels to me like a controlled offloading of shares by big holders. I'm sure they will stop it at some point. EDIT: I mean imagine that you are a big hedge fund manager. Your clients keep asking about the performance...

Oops. You are right. Although I think we can assume that they will have been sold by the end of Q2. So let's say they sold around 18-19k cars in April, and they have 10-11k in transit at the end (to Europe / China).
  45. I

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Based on the rough EU / China estimated spill over, cargo ships and today's US data, my estimate is that Tesla sold around 27-29k cars in April (5-6k EU/China spill over from Q1, 12k deliveries in the US and about 10-11k on ships). Delivering 90k in Q2 will be a stretch. May will be extremely...
