An access panel car... No labor for dropping the battery. Good stuff here!

    Creaking/crackling/clicking from left rear

Resurrecting an old thread... Mine has started doing this, drivers rear just as the video. Same evil sound! Did this ever pop back up? Interesting that getting in on a lift and unloading the suspension stopped it.

The beginning of the end of free Supercharging ?

No it doesn't. It's a sales motion to get attention. Nothing about this creates any illusion of them wanting to strip away features.

Can someone pull a carfax report for me?

You're about to buy a used S and won't spend $50 for a report? NOT the right car for you my friend. Repairs aren't cheap.

Ok, maybe not Road Course in a Legacy S.....what about AutoX?

Short run autox isn't going to cause any thermal issues, even the short brake bursts should be fine. It will just REALLY push wear on the already fragile suspension (control arms, ball joints, fore links, etc). If you're buying a car for this style of event, skip the GT3 as well. Low torque and...

Tesla dove grey NEXT GEN full interior conversion for Model S AP1

I've got that interior MINUS the rear... never knew they offered fully bolsters. Would have been tough with kids boosters, but it looks fantastic. Grey is a rare one, absolutely a great daily color.

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Lightly accelerate, then lightly decelerate... does the sway occur during those events? If so, this is failed rear toe links. Mine had that and I described it exactly how you did.

    loaded 2016 or basic 2018

    A) Was shocked when I needed my seat bottom replaced. After only five years the seat bottom had done a ton of compressing. Replacement (new) feels great. B) Do you have "Ultra High Fidelity Sound Package"? If not, the audio was genuinely average at best. UHFS was a huge uptick in quality...

    Widest tire on 21” Turbine?

8.5" you're really only good to push up to a 255 without dealing with out of spec stretch. Here is the Pilot Sport AS sizing for example. https://www.michelinman.com/auto/tires/michelin-pilot-sport-all-season-4#sizes Plan on aftermarket wheels if you want more rubber in the back.

Is my Model S brewing coffee (or maybe sewing?)

This is the battery coolant you're hearing. Very common and at times can be reduced by having the SC flush the system. Mine has done it for years with no ill effects.
  11. VaztheDad

    Widest tire on 21” Turbine?

You won't get any wider up front, as most 245s I'm finding rub slightly up front when I'm turning in reverse. In the rear might be different if you're willing to give up the ability to rotate.

Used 2019 Model S Raven vs New Model Y

Raven saw adjustable suspension and change in front motor for increased efficiency and better one pedal driving. Absolutely if it's in the budget, go that direction.

What Acceleration Mode is everyone using?

That's range mode, not chill mode. Tesla: Getting Maximum Range Range Mode (if equipped) conserves energy by limiting the power of the climate control system and turns off the signature lights. Turn Range Mode on by touching Controls > Driving > Range Mode. When turned on in an All-Wheel Drive...

    4 Post Lift?

Toy car fits great. :) Model S sits in a different garage with 10' ceilings.
  18. VaztheDad

    4 Post Lift?

My 90D tire edge to edge is about 75", my Bendpak HD-9 ramps are currently set to 81" edge to edge. I'd have no issue getting my Model S on the lift.

Well this is it, just purchased 2018 75D from Tesla website . Have some questions

Has something changed? https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty Tesla used vehicles are covered by the remainder of 4 years or 50,000 miles left on the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty. After expiration, the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty provides additional coverage of 1 year or 10,000...

Munro and Associates takes Plaid to the Track!

Anyone else around the 8 minute mark feel as awkward as I did with all his incredibly over dramatized heavy breathing? The grip isn't that phenomenal on all seasons and the speeds he was carrying wasn't that mind blowing. The only struggle I saw was him trying to autocross with a yolk, which...

    2016.5 P90D to 2022 Plaid Impressions

My S90 is going into the SC for a couple quirks, enough that posts like this aren't helping me. I sat in a Plaid a few months ago and immediately the fit and finish was a generation ahead, so I'm in full agreement of everything you're saying here. The temptation is strong. GREAT write-up...

Refreshed model S Plaid dashboard noise

How would you not feel you are responsible for paying your obligation of owning the vehicle? Your only shot here could potentially be total days out of service and review how you could approach the lemon law. Otherwise they are meeting their contract of providing a service to remediate any...

    Plaid Safety

Finally got a chance to sit in a yolk equipped car over the weekend. First and most importantly, the interior refinement is an incredible generation ahead of my AP1 90D. The doors were solid, the inlay cloth appointment looked great. The fit, finish, and refinement was a giant leap forward...

Michelin Pilot Sport EV - can I use same tires on both and back ?

I wanted these... We won't have them well into next year, this exchange with Michelin was on Aug 24, 2021. Ended up going with the AS, will try the EV next go-around.

    Battery Imbalance after 8 years

2013? Doesn't this car have an eight year battery warranty, or are you out of this only a few months?

Michelin Pilot Sport EV Vs Michelin Pilot Sport S4

Give me until after a rotation to judge the noise, but they have a prominent howl from 50-60 mph on most surfaces. Easily forgiven considering the ride, but still annoying.

Michelin Pilot Sport EV Vs Michelin Pilot Sport S4

I do! (Ignore the rotor rust... just got a bath)
  29. VaztheDad

Michelin Pilot Sport EV Vs Michelin Pilot Sport S4

Spoke with Michelin, as it was time for me to get tires... the EV won't be available for the 21" wheel any time soon in the US. Went with the AS and am incredibly surprised with how great a tire it is. I was supportive of the Vredestein Quatrac Pro early own, but as miles progressed it was...

“Navigation Update Required”, nav won’t work

Add another user here with this issue. After five days of waking the car and having to reboot each time, I submitted a service request. Getting back in the car during the day, I haven't any issues. "Initializing" only happens after the car has been to sleep. 2020.48.37.6 here

Thinking of selling my 2014 S but have some questions

The uptick in money you'll need to supply to get into a Y or iPace is well spent to pay for anything out of warranty. There isn't enough difference in new 3 and Y, to quantify me giving up my AP1 S.

Who said anything about expensive? 🤷‍♂️

    Home Charger Tesla or Other?

I stand corrected, thank you! I've been spoiled by the litany of public J1772 and didn't think through that the standard couldn't support L3 charging. Learned something today. :)

    Home Charger Tesla or Other?

For what I spent on my HPWC, if I had it to do all over I would be buying a 3rd party J1772 and an additional adapter. The HPWC is a beautiful piece and looks great on the wall, but does limit my options. What is appealing now with the SC network opening up to J1772 cars, is the J1772 to SC...

Clicking noise while parked every 2 minutes

I setup an audio recording twice over the last month, including video. HV click, front bumper vent opens and fans come on. Cycle lasts about 15-20 seconds and shuts down. 1.5 minutes later it runs again. Since the car isn't throwing any error messages the SC was clear there was nothing they...

Real World 0-60 for Plaid & Long Range WITHOUT Cheetah Launch Mode turned on?

Was it you that was posting on Reddit earlier? VERY excited to hear this update, as it sounds like the LR is getting closer and closer to essentially a P100D. Will be interesting to learn the motor differences.

    Tesla Service Center Removing Warranty/Upgrades

    Pano Roof Broke

I've wanted to service my own pano, but been uncertain on the procedure. I found the following which shows some of the method the SC uses, which leads me to ask if you're doing the same? Sunroof removal?

    Car will not de accelerate

Come on, that's incredibly dramatic. These brakes are OEM'd from Brembo and larger than what is on many other 5k lbs vehicles. Sure, you've been spoiled by the assist of regenerative technologies, however smoking is creating undue drama.

Air Susp. Compressor comes on at startup after car sits overnight, but no drop in height.

You'll hear it come on for a couple seconds many times after start up? Shocked the suspension needs to relevel this often.
  45. VaztheDad

Air Susp. Compressor comes on at startup after car sits overnight, but no drop in height.

Where exactly is that? My rear suspension typically runs for a few seconds after startup and I'd like to check this as well. Is this behind the wheel? Accessible with the wheel still on?

Replaced suspension components at 200k miles

Brother, all props for doing this work! Can you post a complete list for the community? I'm sure we would all like to know what to consider when our cars hit higher mileage. Congrats on 200k!

What would you do? 2019 Perf vs 2021 LR
