    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

But why wouldn't the collision avoidance keep the car from hitting a wall? I thought that was one of the NHTSA tests??

Do you regret your color choice?

I don't think there is much recourse, as the warranty probably doesn't cover paint chips, however unreasonable it seems to get a dozen chips in the first month. Best I can do is pay to repair the chips and pay to apply a film.

Do you regret your color choice?

my black paint after 1 month is already full of chips on the front. Never had a car with such cheap paint. I would definitely recommend any other color that is multi-coat. And now that white is cheaper, it's a no-brainer.

    Tesla M3 Cabin Noise

Yeah, the dB scale is definitely misunderstood, and is different than perceived loudness. While 3dB corresponds to a doubling of acoustic power, most acousticians agree that a change of 10dB sounds about "twice as loud". Another adage is that a change of 3dB is noticeable by most people, but 2dB...

Lesson Learned...Don't buy before fed tax credit drop

If you finance your purchase, and don't pay down your loan with the rebate, then you'll be paying interest on the rebate amount, not earning interest.

How can I save my charging data without giving up access?

I would love a way to keep track of my charging and usage data. The current options of apps such as teslafi require authentication tokens for your vehicle to be stored in the cloud. I'm not comfortable with giving that access to anyone, and certainly not comfortable with storing that key on a...

    autopilot failed to brake

Thanks for the comments. It seems everyone agrees this is an area that Tesla is aware needs improving. Not sure if submitting this event to them would help at all. Anybody feel that HW3 and the ensuing neural net will improve response in these situations?

    autopilot failed to brake

This happened on a slightly busy freeway yesterday. I'm using NOA and an SUV just ahead of me, in the lane to my right, tries to cut into my lane, inches from my front bumper. The autopilot did not respond in time and I needed to apply the brakes. This seems like a case where AP would surely...

    Automatic Emergency Braking - Sometimes...maybe..it depends...etc

I've had to brake while on autopilot many times. It makes me worried that I shouldn't use it at all. I mean, if I have to pay 100% attention with my hands on the wheel and foot on the brake, maybe I should just turn of AP and drive myself.

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Not a fan of the suspension of my SR+ either. It does start to resonate on certain freeways with regular humps to them, like the 405 when you hit a specific speed. Kinda makes me and the kiddo in the backseat seasick. I don't know much about suspension, but I understand mechanics, and to me it...

Has this major navigation issue happened to you?

I've noticed the nav and also the autopilot does not like to lose cell coverage. The autopilot in particular has turned off while driving when I passed thru a tunnel and out of cell coverage. As for directions, I like the options google provides, so I've been finding my route with google maps...

Make TSMR Model 2019 causing headaches with insurance

My agent told me to just ignore the notice, as it's the VIN that matters. It seems its an auto-generated notification when there is any type of mismatch. But since the VINs match DMV records, that's what counts. Fingers crossed he's correct.

    Tesla M3 Cabin Noise

This. I'm an acoustician and the best way to reduce cabin noise is to deaden the vibrations in the door panels with heavy insulation. The best stuff is asphalt based and would add substantial weight, reducing your mileage. Yes, the Model X is quieter, but also way heavier and less efficient...

Make TSMR Model 2019 causing headaches with insurance

Agree. When I spoke to Progressive, I suggested that the easiest way to resolve this would be to simply change my insurance docs to list the model as TSMR instead of Tesla. They said it was not their data to change, but a 3rd party database that was being used to generate the Tesla label...

Make TSMR Model 2019 causing headaches with insurance

Recently purchased a M3 SR+ in California. Tesla submitted the DMV registration paperwork as is usual practice. I added the vehicle to my insurance policy before delivery (Progressive). This week I received a letter from the underwriters at Progressive which said After lengthy calls with my...

    Phantom Braking Measured

But a human driver could take into account that someone is tailgating and adjust their stopping speed to avoid a collision. This is the definition of "defensive driving". An advanced auto-pilot should be able to do so as well.

Emergency Lane Departure - False Positives

Exactly. I thought this was also the case when it became apparent how much driving style affects battery range. It seems the AP is perfect for those who drive slowly and conservatively. Just wait until they start herding ev's traveling together on the highway using a mesh topology. I'm going to...

    Phantom Braking Measured

Had mine only 2 weeks, but have had this happen once while exiting the freeway on NOAP. The car gave a few sudden brakes with nothing in front of me but plenty of road. Not sure why. I suspect the computer errs on the side of paranoid braking rather than ignoring a signal that could be noise...

Autopilot seems to bias M3 to the right side of the lane?

I think there is a difference between drifting out of the lane while in control of the vehicle, and drifting out while on AP. In the first case, you know how far out you will allow yourself to go. In the second case, you have no idea how far the AP will take you out of the lane, and are faced...

Autopilot seems to bias M3 to the right side of the lane?

Makes sense, but I think the front camera should be able to look ahead further for anticipating turns. Neural net and machine learning should help the camera arrays make better predictions in the future.

Autopilot seems to bias M3 to the right side of the lane?

This. The AP definitely understeers on corners at freeway speeds. I had to recover control the other day when the AP took me over the shoulder warning bumps and inches from an overpass pillar.

    NEMA 14-50 Out of stock?

Ordered the 6-50 adapter online on May 30th after finding out my delivery center did not have any, nor did my local service centers (in Los Angeles). They sent me a tracking number on June 1st, but nothing has been shipped even after 10 days. Very frustrating to not be able to charge at Level 2...

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

M3 SR+ with FSD, ordered 5/20. Build date of 4/19, Fremont. Looks like HW2.5 based on the video codec. Mpeg4/AVC. Will look at the AP hardware part # tonight. I've personally had some close calls with the AP on Los Angeles freeways, slight understeering that puts the car inches from overpass...

new Model 3, charge port not locking

Update: I used a supercharger today and it seemed to lock, charging at 43Kw. I compared the connector to mine and they look almost exactly the same. Mine is just a little thinner overall, but the notch for the locking pin seems exactly the same on both. I have an appt for service and will update...

new Model 3, charge port not locking

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue, and if so how it was resolved. Just picked up a M3 SR+ last week. When I use the included charging cable, I get the message on my app that "The charging cable may not be connected properly". It seems to charge fine, at 5m/hr on the Level 1...
