My 5+ years of "low maintenance" ownership

Pretty much the same with mine, an early 2019 build (we got it April 2019, 65k+ miles now). Few problems, even those minor. I did have Mobile Service come out early summer this year to replace the 12-volt battery preemptively before a long road trip my wife was taking without me -- I didn't...

Replaced Air Filters, still musty/old smelling.

I just did the change of filter and coil cleaning on my 2019 Model 3 -- right at 2 years old with about 30k on it. Over the winter, started noticing the AC funk whenever we used defroster or (while in Florida over the holidays) AC -- we live just outside NYC, so moderate humidity, but the trip...

Model Y Perf or BMW X3M?

"Vegan leather"! :-) I was worried about the white, and actually really like the black just fine, but the material seems to wear so well, I wouldn't worry (much) about the white. It's good stuff. Nearly 30k miles on my M3 LR at just under two years, and I'd never go back to an ICE vehicle. I...

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

Yeah, you don't want to see my M3 right now -- parked in a messy garage with a lot of road grime. Waiting for a day above freezing so I can at least hose it off. I love winter....

Where did the proximity chimes mute button go?

So, after the (infamous) update to the UI after Christmas, I've been looking for it. I don't see other discussion about it other than a couple random questions (no answers). Is it so obvious that nobody else cares? I'm tired of the "beep beep beep" every time I pull in or out of the garage...

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

I've been trying to figure that out as well, no luck so far. I used it every time I backed out of the garage. Other than that, I really don't mind the new display. I had the chance to get used to it with a ~20-hour, two-day drive from Fla. to NY over the weekend.

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

So, what software version Update gives me all these features?

    Supercharger - Montauk, NY

Just took a long weekend trip to Montauk -- first time, it was great. What wasn't great was charging -- no sign of a Montauk Supercharger, unfortunately, and the four destination charger plugs at Morty's Oyster Bar that it looked like were right next to our motel are not operational (apparently...

Learnings/Feedback from completed Car Camping Roadrip

People passing by would see on the screen a message that Dog Mode is on, no need to call the police or animal rescue (or something to that effect) and keep the temp around 70-something. And if you leave a window cracked, you might get a biscuit! :-)

Learnings/Feedback from completed Car Camping Roadrip

Between NYC and DC, on the I-95/Jersey Turnpike corridor, Tesla has at least one Supercharger each direction on the Turnpike (albeit only 4 stations at the one I stopped at) and at least one in Delaware, a couple in Maryland. Makes it way more convenient than getting off the toll road, getting...

Long Road trip with Y or ICE????

I think the back seat is more comfortable in the Y than the 3, right -- as it sits up a little higher. The 3 is definitely an issue for backseat passengers who are closer to 6'. Anyway, I vote for the Tesla. I've taken several similar trips and the stops to charge are always welcome. I think...

Tesla Says Cybertruck Will Be Built at New Factory in Texas

Go Austin. Buy a Tesla if you can.

First Time Driving a Tesla- Just got my MY

I was going to say Chill (mode) too. I used it for the first few months that I had my M3, then got used to Standard and I haven't gone back. Anyway, congrats and welcome to the club!

    RFID in a watch band

I was going to share that too -- you beat me to it.

The four cameras saved me $1000 and my driving record...

Yet another great reason to spring for a really high-quality USB drive to use with the Tesla cam.

Are cops lenient on Model 3s?

    Definitely a stop.

What car did you swap for a Model 3?

Technically, a 1998 Toyota Tacoma extended cab -- my dad bought it new, gave it to me in 2010 and I passed it along to my sister. Our M3 Duel Motor really replaced our 2008 Highlander Limited, still a nice vehicle, but with ~20 average MPG and 280k miles, it was time to retire it to second-car...

Blog Report: Tesla Employees Pressured to Take Shortcuts to Meet Production Goals

Well, I'm not sure I'm ready to say that CNBC is anti-Tesla, but the story does have a smell factor to it. My experience is just one car, a Model 3 Duel Motor, delivered late April. After 4,200 miles, I can say it's the best automobile I've ever bought or had (and I count 14 before now...

Tesla chargers are not for parking

That occurred to me as well. It’s. Little aggressive but deserved, I think.

Tesla Owners That Hog Supercharger Spaces

Ha! Probably right. My wife claims I'm exaggerating, but whenever somebody pulls a dickish move in a car around here (just north of NYC), there's at least a 50-50 chance that's the brand they're driving. Related to this larger topic, where I work we have six free chargers (for students and...

PPF And Ceramic Coating Look Amazing

What's the typical lifespan of PPF and ceramic coating? How long does it take you to wash the car with something like CarPro ECH2o wash? Seems like you could do it in the garage when weather is subzero, as it fairly often in the winter months here in the NYC suburbs. I don't mind doing a...
