    Air Source Heat Pump

Looked into this myself recently as I have an old, inefficient oil boiler. The running costs of an ASHP don't stack up, especially in winter when its actually cold outside when even my existing boiler beats it for price/kwh heat produced - a modern oil boiler would easily seem to beat an ASHP...

    ev.energy Outage Yesterday

Seems a bit hit and miss today - long load times but seems to work eventually. Did charge OK last night though.

    Part ex UK M3. Pathetic.

I got a much better price for my old car from Arnold Clark - sold it to them the week before and picked up a cheap hire car for a few days which I dropped off at Heathrow on the way to pick up my new toy. Bit of a faff but well worth it for the £1000+ I saved over trading it in.

    Model 3 SR+ - Hidden costs?

Even being on an expensive electricity tarriff I've saved £200 in the first month. Which should offset the £400 I spent on charge point installation in two months. Recon I can do better next month after my smart meter is installed. Only other cost I've paid in the past month is about 50p's...

    UK Owners with v10?

Finally got v10 last night, 2019.32.12.1 - so looks like even if you don't get pushed the initial versions you'll probably get an upgrade eventually.

    Tow Hitch Waiting Room

Were there any warning 'lamps' or anything for the brake servo issue? There have been a couple of times when I wondered about mine, but it could equally be explained by getting used to a new car having come from one where the brakes are very fierce... I don't find I use brakes much ;-)

    Electric Blue Chargers

Indeed - and for the cost (and power requirements!) of a couple of rapid chargers you could get quite a lot of cheap 7kw chargers, to the point where you don't have to rush back to your car after 30 mins or feel guilty occupying a charging spot for a couple of hours as there'd be more than...

    UK Owners with v10?

    UK Owners with v10?

Have people who have had the upgrade set upgrade mode to "standard" or "advanced"? Or are both settings getting it now?

    Wish me luck...

Unlike British Rail though it's worth the wait when it actually arrives - and then will get you to your destination quickly, in comfort and with a great big smile on your face :-D

Model 3 type 2 cable length

I tried my type 2 cable last night for the first time (well, there was free electricity going ;-) ), mainly to test the experience. 4M cable was unweildy enough, I'm not sure I'd really want a longer one, especially one with this thickness of cable.

Model 3 type 2 cable length

There appear to be additional type 2 sockets on each side of the big white slab - if this is the case then I'd feel confident about being able to reach from all four bays.

Model 3 type 2 cable length

A lot of the recent 4M type 2 cables were actually grey - mine is!

    Common as muck

Basic LED bulbs are now cheap as chips - I replaced a 100W incandescent in my bathroom with a £2 LED from Wilko - this paid for itself in about 15 hours of run-time, which I'd estimate to be significantly less than a month's usage. An easy win, surely?

    3 Pin Charger Tripping House

Weirdly since the first day my UMC seems to start and stop charging now with no issues without having to turn everything off first. Very odd. Looking forward to Rolec install next week as I haven't managed to get to a full charge since saturday night (after a visit to a supercharger!)

    Common as muck

Drove to a local supermarket on Saturday, about a 10 minute journey, saw another Model 3 coming the other way on the way there then saw another one drive into the car park as I was leaving - and this was my first journey after picking up the car!

    3 Pin Charger Tripping House

I've got exactly the same problem - but thanks to your insight I managed to get it working. Turn off everything else in the house, started charging, ramped up to 10A, then turned everything else in the house back on, one at a time. Everything's working happily now. Of course if I press the...

    UMC Mains Extension cable

Is it possible to put attach the blue type 2 cable to the output of the UMC and use that as an extension cable if needs be? As it's basically just an extension cable itself...

New Deliveries, check your UMC contains a 3 pin UK plug!

Good idea - I'm not getting my charger installed for nearly two weeks post-delivery so I may not be going far without a 3 pin plug!

    Upstream carbon emissions

The problem with the "domestic PV can't compete with North Sea wind" argument is that it isn't always windy. Even in the North Sea. So at that point it's better to have a load of PV panels than fire up the coal/gas plants again. For weather-dependent renewables diversification is the name of the...

    Collection Cancellation!

Glad you got sorted - must admit I'm a bit worried reading this having sold my car last Saturday in advance of delivery this Saturday - I'm not sure how I'd cope if I had to drive (and pay for) the world's slowest hire car for another month (think 15.5 secs to 60...). Crossing my fingers mine...

    Trustpilot UK reviews

There's a tendency for people who're upset to leave reviews more than happy satisfied customers. Just human nature. So far my experience has been generally very good, although I haven't (quite!) got the car yet, so can't comment on after-sales service. I think some people tend to overstate how...

    End of Q3 pickup

I'm fairly sure Domino's pizza tracking is fake, and they just give you an indication based on the average time it takes them to make a pizza. There's no actual 'tracking', just guesswork of timing based on when you ordered, and perhaps how busy their store is. I've known it to be off by more...

If that's what they're using to track worldwide vehicle shipments then its a miracle that any arrive with new owners at all!

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Of course this may be a conscious decision not to expose this info, in case it's only provisional in the system and they need to change it later, they'll have disappointed customers... so maybe it's a case of better to say nothing officially then it gives them more flexibility until they're...

    More Uk-bound Ships?

Honor seems unlikely as it's under different ownership to the previous ship and is moored in a different part of the port... but then I guess there's no guarantees this will be consistent I suppose!

    More Uk-bound Ships?

Overall length figures include some overhang at the bow which makes the waterline length shorter, so I think your average area is too high. Also you've assumed she's taken on fuel in Philadelphia, which may not be the case, she may have had sufficient in the bunkers for the voyage prior to...

    More Uk-bound Ships?

Looks like a barge-pushing tug to me. Maybe it's just pushed a barge up alongside to load stores onto the ship or something like that, rather than assisting in unmooring the ship?
  42. P

    Tow Hitch Waiting Room

It does seem that SR+ with tow bar is a more popular choice than LRAWD/tow and thus easier to get hold of. Can only assume it's because it's cheaper, not because most people only want to tow things short distances?

Anyone swapping over to the Taycan??

Isn't this the first electric car Porsche have built? Not sure I'd want to be taking delivery of one of the first ones, certainly not at that price!
  44. P

    More Uk-bound Ships?

I think most likely if they are going to the effort of containerising the model 3s its unlikely they'll all be on one ship, they'll just stick them on whichever one turns up first mixed in amongst many other containers of other goods. Ships will probably be so plentiful that it's going to be...

    More Uk-bound Ships?

There's a dive vessel buzzing round it, so wonder if it's stopped in Falmouth to get something checked out underwater. Doubt it has Teslas onboard - if so why did it go to Germany first? Falmouth would be an odd choice, even if they could find a spare berth they don't really seem to have...

    The Tesla Spotted Thread

Saw a black M3 heading northbound on the M40 last night in the High Wycombe area, say a black MX heading southbound in the same area today. Generally see about 1 per journey. If you really want to see some Teslas though go and park in the short stay car park at Heathrow T5 - I was there a...

    More Uk-bound Ships?

Pure speculation on my part, but given there's still ships to SFO and there's model 3s coming to the UK from Philadelphia that aren't going via Zebrugge, I wonder if they're shipping a few extra cars in containers to get them moving rather than waiting for a whole Ro-Ro ship?

    Tow Hitch Waiting Room

    Sales after Brexit?

The government has published a list of "no deal" tariffs, which puts 10% on electric vehicles. Which is (I believe) the same as the current EU import duty we're already paying. So no change there then. Obviously there's a slight question mark over what happens if they come in via Zebrugge as at...
