    Great Service Today @ Chester

I find so much negativity on this forum that I thought I'd post about my positive experience today at Tesla Chester. Great communication from the service team prior to arrival. No quibble with the warranty work which was spoiler delamination & squeaky suspension. The suspension wasn't...

    Brakes are terrible

Picture not clear so here it is:- Brake Disc Wiping To ensure brakes remain responsive in cold and wet weather, Model 3 is equipped with brake disc wiping. When cold and wet weather is detected, this feature repeatedly applies an imperceptible amount of brake force to remove water from the...

    Brakes are terrible

I'm sure I read model 3 has disc drying function so there should never be a case of needing to emergency stop on wet discs.

    [UK] 2022.44

Well this is the first update in more than 3 years that has changed the UI in a way I didn't want. I'd much rather the music player were below the map as it used to be. Maybe the only way to keep everybody happy is to make some customisation available.

Battery depleted to zero at airport compound (Gatwick)

It would seem your words "Battery depleted to zero" were incorrect. Did you mean you were concerned by the rate of discharge? If so this is just another case of overthinking when the firmware engineers have done the thinking for you!

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

I really hope the USS removal is a great success and therefore puts all the luddites on this thread into their place. Why do you people think you know better than those actually doing the R&D?

Have seats on the M3 changed since initial launch?

Goodness I hope not. The seats in my 2019 M3P are way too soft for my liking!

    [UK] 2022.28.X

I've had the car 3 years to the day and this AHB thing is my first major complaint. I use autopilot a lot and this is preventing me from using it as much as I would like to. High beams are switched on when there is oncoming traffic but there is also no need for it to come on. Previous...

Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

    M3LR new battery

I'm not convinced AB will be available on the newer LR. The slower 0-60 in the SR and the lack of AB on the LR both point to a pack less capable of very high output levels?

Model 3 External Lighting Service Mode Please

Sounds very old fashioned. I’d be very surprised if the control electronics doesn’t know immediately if there is a problem.

Home Charge Points Discussion and Suggestions [megathread]

Agree with most of the comments here simple, and looks good. The Rolec at work has a thinner cable, maybe it’s because the TWC is three phase ready? No one believes me how easily the earth rod went in!

Car wow M3 drag race. Surprising result

I suspect the difference might be reversed with a 2019 P and a 2021 LR (heatpump). SoC and battery temps needed to make a real judgement. My P flies with a warm, fully charged battery with the PS4S on. Change any of those things and performance is noticeably worse. No noticeable wheelspin...

    Model 3 performance price increase

I don’t think it’s about keeping production simple. The LR & P are almost identical! We why would they want to encourage take up of the LR, which must be a lower margin product?

Does the M3 need a Snow Mode?

4WD braking worse than 2WD?! Do we swap brakes for motors!? My experience with all seasons in the snow has been great. Considering the very low percentage of the time some of us drive on snow all seasons seem to make a lot of sense to me. It’s almost always cold and wet. Roll on me being 58....

    Next release speculation and wishes

I find the view of the speed just fine. Before the Tesla I’ve had BMWs onwards from a 1983 323i... never could I see between 40-80 mph because of the wheel. I was a great fan of the cars and had to learn to live with it. I do wonder wonder why people who prefer the tried & tested solutions...

Disagree. The problem does exist. Did acceptable solutions exist? Yes. If Tesla had accepted existing solutions they’d be making inline sixes.

You can still use scheduled charging to use Octopus Go. You can’t do that and use scheduled departure.

Model 3 is getting pedestrian warning noises (AVAS)?

Easily is the answer! The system is likely DC coupled and with high side current monitoring. Just set the output to some DC level and check for an increase in supply current. There are many other ways of course. My 2011 530d would report open circuit speakers and they were dumb 2 wire speakers.
  43. pow216

Model 3 is getting pedestrian warning noises (AVAS)?

Unlikely I think. You only need to check for the speaker being present so why not use a wide window say 2-8Ω.

    [UK] 2020.44.x

Wiki [UK] Holiday update - 2020.48.26/.30/.35.x

Well I quite like the new UI. Sadly scheduled departure still won't work for me on Octopus Go. I just set it up and entered the end time for the 5p rate of 04:30. When I plugged in the car it started to charge right away :( Either they need to allow input of a start charging time or simply...

Model 3 is getting pedestrian warning noises (AVAS)?

I’ve now gone from being pleased to not have the external speaker to wanting it. Most people report that the loom is present. Does that mean the electronics to drive it is present? Will the system need to be told by the mothership that the speaker is present or will it be clever enough to...
