    Review calls Tesla's Motor subpar

My Model S P85 (Vin x6817, I believe) has over 75000 miles on it. We did get a new DU because of the wearing out of a gear component and that, along with an initial problem with the handles, has been the only major problem the car has had. The Tesla motor is basically a 100+ year old design...

    Supercharger - West Hartford, CT

I was also there this weekend (White P85) and there was one ICE'd spot. The Starbucks is all the way on the other side of the plaza almost to Sears. We were at Trader Joe's and it was nice to be able to charge there now - lot's of spaces and I like the new Supercharger design.

    Pennsylvania Supercharger - In Progress

Any progress report? I'm planning trips from CT and really don't want to have to go all the way to DE/MD.

4-year service contract now available in CT

Hank, They did offer it about a month ago for new purchases. The email is for folks like me for whom the service agreement wasn't available legally until now. Nice to see it. Signing up today. Jason

David Noland suggests Model S pedal placement is a safety hazard

Just the accelerator stops working - not the brakes. It does have a nice warning beep and flashes on the screen to tell you not to do it.

No gas makes driving a lot "easy" -- are you concerned about mileage?

Hitting 35K miles after 13 months. Clearly not worrying about the amount I'm driving it. As someone mentioned earlier, my only concern at all is around warranty, and with 8 years unlimited miles on the battery, I'm even less concerned with that. The car remains an absolute pleasure to drive.

    Conn non owner but interested

Hi John, I'm a CT owner. Most of these you can easily find on the testlamotors.com website (I think it's fun to just configure a car, but I'm weird). To answer your questions: the jump seats are optional - I don't have them, same with the sunroof. So far as I know, there is only one...

Windshield Wiper Problematic in winter condition!

That's strange. No problems for me. Essentially these are Mercedes wiper motors but some unique wipers on them. I do know that the defroster design needed to be tweeked, so I'd look at getting that update when you bring it in to the service center. Other than that, I haven't had problems...

    Supercharger - Guilderland, NY

That is an awesome chart. I'm assuming it is at the Tesla HQ?

Has Anyone's Model S Auto Insurance Gone Up Significantly?

No change on my side with USAA.
  11. T

How many of you bought Tesla's ESA / Service Plans ?

Here in CT, no service plans are available, which has been actually very expensive for me so far. I'd love to get a service plan.

Seeking Feedback from All Model S Owners…

Love my MS - just hit 25,000 miles with the only real issue being wind going through the pano roof initially (now fixed under warranty, of course). Jason

    Milford CT Service Center Opened!

Great looking place, right on Rt 1 in Milford. I was the second customer there (24,000 mile service).

Oh what a difference 40 degrees F makes.

Having similar issues - and also too many variables to really pinpoint anything. My "normal" consumption has been about 320 or so and in the last week it has gone to 365 or 370. But... the temp in New England has crashed, I've updated to 5.8, and I had recently moved over to my snow tires...
  15. T

Petition to rollback 5.8s suspension behavior modification at high speeds

I agree. This is really no big deal. And who said that the MS is higher off the ground than other cars to begin with? News to me.
  16. T

Will "short charges" (i.e. 15-20-30 minutes) have a negative affect on battery life?

I agree on following the basic Tesla instructions. Keep plugged in when possible and charge to 80%. After 21K miles we have seen no reduction of range at all. Jason

MS 60 Hartford to Philly Road Trip

Hey Sean, I think we may be neighbors. We live in Glastonbury. Not sure if you have seen our white P85 driving around. Anyway, I have done this trip (well, actually only to Princeton to visit my son) a few times in the P85 without problems, but good to see your experience as well. Jason

    Tesla is a "Novelty Vehicle"...

The first thing I thought about is how I consider a Porsche (most of which I love btw) as a true novelty vehicle. Where I live in the northeast, you can't drive most of their cars except 4-5 months a year. Not sure what is "novelty"?

How to remove the sticky black stuff on the edges of the pano roof

They replaced all of that stuff at my last service. Apparently this was a problem with a lot of the early pano roof installs. Oh, and at the same time they were able to fix my sunroof so it doesn't make any noise -
  22. T

    Bumper scuff

Also timely for me. I have a scrape in the plastic bumper (**** shopping cart, I think). Paint is definitely gone from there, but doesn't look like there is anything bent. Is there touch-up paint? Jason
  23. T

Just a Comparison (maybe some features that should get consideration in future model)

I'm confused AC1K. I think you made a bad choice if you think that all of those features are useful and the MS drives poorly. I'm... well... shocked. Most of us feel the Tesla drives every bit as well as the best BMW have to offer and most of the reviewers seem to agree. It is certainly not...

Clearly my other car is a Tardis.... or a 2010 Buick Enclave that we are about to get rid of.

    Decreasing rated range.

Bluetinc - that's exactly what I was going to say. This is just a result of how the software is managing the charge, not how the battery is working. 4.5 only charges to 90% on a standard charge.

Negative Camber in the Rear and Expensive Tires

Thats almost exactly what my rear tires looked like when I replaced them (at about 10000 miles). Good luck with the service center.

    My 12,500 service

Given that there is no service plan available in CT where I live, I'm wondering if anyone knows how much the 12,500 service costs? I'm just at 10K miles and thinking about scheduling the service soon.

So this is it (first time in a Model S)

Total non-sequiter but I can't help but read EdA's " Mr. Powers" as if I was Dr. Evil....
  29. T

    Talk me out of it?

Awesome! You won't be disappointed with the ownership experience either. Just hitting 10K miles and have loved every one - except that one of my tires has a lovely nail in it 8^(. No hat though... I'm jealous of yours.

Please don't do (better place method) battery swap stations, it's a stupid idea

TANSTAAFL (actual quote is "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" - from The Moon is a Harsh Mistress) to you too. Not sure why this is a concern one way or another to those of us who are investors or owners (I'm both). At the end of the day, if the incremental costs are too high (not...

    New England Model S Deliveries

congrats - hope you enjoy yours as much as I am after 6000+ miles. Only problems I had were noise from the pano roof above 75mph or so and a bum initial power cable. Cable quickly resolved by the service center. Pano roof still a little problem, but not really a killer and they are working on...

Pano Roof Wind Noise at Higher Speeds

I was having the same problem and brought the car to the service center in White Plains. They were able to adjust the seal a bit and it made a big difference. Now I only get a little wind over 80MPH or so. Pretty sure that with some tinkering they can fix it with just changes in the seal.

Elon Confirms LTE coming--requires Hardware Upgrade

I think that the real goal is to support tethering to whatever device you have either through the USB or WiFi. That's how I read Elon's comments as well as others I have heard.
  34. T

    Nonsense from John Petersen

well, at .25/share, Axion certainly doesn't have a lot of downside left. but since it is down 50% in the last year and is completely married to the lead acid world, I'm not sure how much upside there really is. Also, didn't Petersen complain at one point about how bad for the world batteries...
  35. T

What is the range after a full charge supposed to be? (85Kw)

240 - 242 every time after about 1500 miles. Doesn't seem to matter where I charge either (home 240@50A, supercharger, or work with a 30A/220V connection). My real world range has been right about that as well, unless I'm proving I'm faster than my neighbor's Porsche... Jason

Upset at Major Headliner Issue - Anyone notice this? (resolved)

Exactly, like the 21" wheels, if they announce it going forward it is one thing but just randomly changing it is a bait and switch. I have to admit that it never would have concerned me until this thread but one of the first things I looked at when I picked up the car yesterday was the liner...

Upset at Major Headliner Issue - Anyone notice this? (resolved)

I have to admit that would frustrate me too. Can you post the internal memo? I'd send to George and ask him to explain the decision. The delivery people up in Boston (Watertown) hadn't heard of any change and the 3 other P85's there were all with Alcantra.

Upset at Major Headliner Issue - Anyone notice this? (resolved)

Picked up my beautiful white P85 today in Boston - absolutely has the Alcantra headliner, sun visors, and seat inserts. Looks awesome. I asked and was told that it is standard for P85 's so I'd talk to Tesla about yours. Must have been a mistake.

    Chicago to Crystal Lake, MI

Sorry to say that I haven't but that's going to be a beautiful trip. I use to go to camp as a kid on Crystal Lake. Just a beautiful spot. I wouldn't think you will have any trouble making it from Muskegan so long as you can charge when you get there. Enjoy the trip!

    Good sign for Tesla

Great idea... If anyone has created something that can be shared, it would be wonderful. I've already been approached by my son's school to show them the car (when I get it in a few weeks) and would love to be able to have some materials to work from.
