The heated seats seats get plenty hotter than any other car I’ve been in, I love that more than I expected. But I sorely miss a heated steering wheel.

So this post was my immediate reaction...but the weirdest thing has happened as a sit with it. I’m liking this design now.

Not the car my friend...the other stuff in the tray that gets covered in ink. I’ve had pens leak twice in hot cars and make a huge mess of all the stuff in the tray. If somebody who’s been through this had a recommendation, it’s worth asking. The Fisher space pen was a helpful idea though, so...

Maybe an unusual question. I like to keep a pen in the car, but there’s always a risk that on a hot day it will spew ink in the console tray. Do you have a recommendation of a car-durable pen?

Have you ever been able to compare what changes on the S help reduce noise as compared to the 3?

I went all white in the center console, and I even added a white leather-like cover to the armrest. It’s not as fine as the material on the seats but close enough to pass without close inspection. Maybe one day I’ll upgrade if some makes a classier version. I draw the line at the door buttons...

No screw. I go to work in a well patrolled and not very busy parking garage, and then park in my home garage mostly. Pretty secure so not concerned about plate theft.

This is the logic I’m looking for! Not digging in to right/wrong, risk/reward, or anything like that. Just the logic and facts. Also the question in my mind is around things like bicycles...they easily go 20 mph...using the logic of the pedestrian speaker, must they one day require noise makers...

Nope. This is why I’m wanting to figure this out now by asking and seeking information, see. Why would you blindly make an assumption of a law? Will cars grandfathered in without pedestrian speakers be exempt from prosecution by that same jury? Doesn’t make sense.

Is it mandated for dealer install or a law to have it on your car as an owner? I don’t believe the latter is the case or older EVs would be required to add the noise too.

Any brave soul dig into the front fascia yet to inspect the speaker? I saw someone post somewhere that adding an inline 25 ohm resistor might remove the noise.

I wonder how much we are exacerbating the problem though? I saw some study once from a city somewhere in one of the Nordic countries where they took away all curbs, signs, stoplights etc and found it increased safety because it forced people to be more aware, make eye contact, etc. or like...

Bet you could pull that plastic cover down, put some acoustic foam between the speaker and the grill, and take that sound to 0 without tampering with wires. Maybe even keep water out?

I heard somebody slapped some duct tape over the speaker hole and cut the sound by 50%. I bet a simple fix would be to remove that plastic cover from the bottom and tape some acoustic foam between the speaker and the plastic grill. No sound, no wire tampering, nice easy fix. Keeps water out too! :)
