    Anyone Get Latest UI Update?

Just installed it and enable blind spot camera. I probably won't actually try it out for a few days since I have no plans to drive anywhere over the holidays. I do like the revamped UI as well as the option to keep it in dark mode. I also like the separate subwoofer control. As for the added...

Help me decide: Model Y or Mach-E

I echo what Flybuddy said. I currently own a Model Y, Chevy Bolt and an Energica Ribelle. IMHO it comes down to the charging infrastructure. My Bolt and Ribelle use CCS for DC charging and my experience with local CCS chargers in the SF Bay Area is that they're often not easy to find and when...

    Model Y Performance range question

I've had my MYP almost a year now and I've taken it on four 1000+ mile trips (it's my road trip EV). I average about 190 miles max using about 90% of my battery with my cruise control set to 5 over the speed limit. I usually stop every couple of hours (about 140 miles) to charge. I'm on the...

Model Y Auto Pilot Nearly Unusable

I have a November 2020 Model Y Performance (SW: 2021.24.11) and while I love the car and have zero regrets about buying it, I've taken it on 4 1000+ mile road trips so far and on my car, the auto pilot needs improvement. My issues are the same as others have posted: Phantom braking. Usually...

    Tesla Model Y, Dancing Hood.

I had the same issue on my MYP (Nov 2020) earlier this summer. The dancing hood seemed to be heat related (seemed to happen intermittently on really hot days (90+) when the car was sitting in the sun for a period of time. I did have to take it to my local service center for the repair (covered...

What has been hauled or transported in your model Y

I haven't towed anything with my Performance yet but I have made multiple Lowe's trips and the most I had in the back were 9 bags of mulch plus 3 bags of garden soil. I still hadn't used the frunk and I had space along the sides if I needed a few more items. I did have to put the rear seats down.

The glass roof is like having a giant heater which is always on

Where I live in the California Bay Area, average temps are in the 90's. I also recently completed a 1 week road trip to Seattle during the Pacific Northwest heat bubble where temps were routinely over 100. With my Y climate system set to auto, I find it very comfortable. During my road trip, I...

    FSD subscription announced by Tesla

Next time I have a long road trip I'll subscribe for a month but other than that, definitely no plans to purchase or subscribe regularly until FSD actually self-drives.

Model Y vs Mustang Mach E

I can't say I have zero brand loyalty but like you, I also figure out my requirements and go from there. I had a deposit on a Mustang Mach-E GT until I found out it was going to use CCS charging. Having a Chevy Bolt and Energica Ribelle, both of which use CCS, I knew CCS wasn't going to cut it...

Anyone else having to reprogram their side mirrors constantly?

Mine would do the same thing over time when I had auto-tilt in reverse enabled. After disabling that, I haven't had my mirrors drift out of alignment.

How good is the air conditioning really?

I just finished a trip from the SF Bay Area to Seattle and back during the heat bubble...temps well over 100 all the way through Oregon and Washington. The AC kept us cool the entire time...had it set between 68-72 because at times 68 was too cold.

    Back issue--Model 3 upgrade to Model Y

I checked out both the Model 3 and the Model Y before settling on my Y. I really wanted to like the 3 since I was going to get the Performance version of either one and the 3 is a bit quicker and a little cheaper. Unfortunately, the same issues you raised were the same reasons I went with the Y...

Bolt in tire (2nd time in 36 days); recall related?

The higher tire pressures our EVs use make them more susceptible to punctures. Less pressure would allow the tire to give more when rolling over things like that, reducing the chance of penetration. Lower tire pressure would negatively impact range though. In the end, it's a trade off...stiffer...

Road trip in July. questions from a brand new owner

I took my Model Y Performance with the 21" wheels on a road trip from the San Francisco Bay Area to Southern California (Morongo Casino/Resort). I started my trip with 100% charge. I used the built in navigation and stopped when it told me to stop for a charge and left when it told me to. I...

    Bay Area PPF/Ceramic coating recommendations

I can't speak to prices but I've seen the work done by these two shops on other high end cars: Auto Design Pro in Pittsburg (site Vinyl Wrapping, Window Tinting, Car Detailing, Custom Vinyl Wrap - site Vinyl Wrapping, Window Tinting, Car Detailing, Custom Vinyl Wrap) Kartunz in Pleasanton...

I see so many model Y owners having issues. Would you buy again?

No issues since taking delivery of my Model Y Performance in November. Having mobile service come out to install my tow hitch rather than having to drop it off at a service center impressed me even more. If I find myself in the market for another EV, a Tesla will definitely remain on my list of...

Best setup for two tesla charging

I don't have 2 Teslas but I do have my Model Y, a Chevy Bolt, and 2 Energica electric motorcycles. I have a single L2 charger that I placed in a central location in my garage and it's been sufficient for keeping all 4 EVs charged. I also have a 120v charger that I'm currently using on one of my...

Model Y vs Mustang Mach E

Buying American just to buy American makes no sense to me. I buy what I feel is the best product I can afford. If it’s an American made product, great. If it’s a foreign product, that means the American companies making similar products need to step up and do better and until they do I will buy...

Model Y vs Mustang Mach E

The Mach-E has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto whereas the Model Y doesn't so I would argue the Mach-E has better phone integration. That being said, if you don't need the additional app support that CarPlay/Android provide, then the bluetooth sync has proven sufficient for me.

Model Y vs Mustang Mach E

I consider the better EV to be different from the better car/crossover. I firmly believe the Tesla is the better EV but given the known Model Y quality issues and interior design decisions, I feel the Mach-E is the better car/crossover. Since I was specifically looking at the Mach-E GT vs the...

Model Y Tow Hitch package from Tesla Store

The mobile service tech brought it out to my house. I made sure to mention in the service app that I didn't have the tow hitch at my home and that it was at my closest service center.

Dear Elon: just remove navigation from your cars

Personally, I like the built in Tesla navigation, especially with regards to planning charging stops. I’ve tried the other generic charging route planning apps on my other CCS capable EVs and the Tesla Nav is much better. Granted it’s Tesla specific but the integration with the car is it’s...

Mobile service just installed my tow hitch this past week. If it's available in your area, it's definitely installable by their mobile techs.

Model Y vs Mustang Mach E

As someone who had a reservation for a Mach-E GT but cancelled it to pick up a Model Y Performance...here are my thoughts: If 90%+ of your driving is "local" and road trips are a rarity, I would recommend the Mach-E. As much as I love my MYP, I admit the Mach-E is a better overall car. If road...

Is Model Y a luxury car?

I agree with what many have said already. Teslas aren't luxury vehicles and to regularly try to compare them to luxury vehicles at the same price point is missing "the point". Tesla's are electric vehicles...plain and simple. The premium price is for the best EV technology available right now...

Model Y dropping in price soon?

I had a reservation for a Mach-E GT but decided to go with the Model Y mainly because this is my road trip EV and the Supercharger network is a huge bonus. Being the owner of numerous CCS capable EVs, I’ve experienced the issues with CCS chargers and I decided I didn’t want to deal with that on...

    WeatherTech Cargo liner

Here’s my WeatherTech Cargo liner. As mentioned above, you have to remove it to get to the under floor storage, mainly the shallow one. You can still get into the deeper one without removing the liner if there’s nothing on it.

    Enhanced Autopilot Vs. FSD

When I bought my Model Y a couple of weeks ago, auto pilot (adaptive cruise control and lane assist) was standard. FSD was the only option at $10k extra. I passed on FSD since the adaptive cruise control and lane assist were the only driver aids I really wanted since my Y is intended to be my...

Did supercharger network influence your buying decision

Yes... My Model Y capped off my conversion to all electric vehicles. My Energica motorcycles and Chevy Bolt all us CCS for their DC charging. I commute(d) (pre-pandemic) primarily by motorcycle and my Bolt is my daily driver, especially around town and between neighboring towns. I had a...
