    Radar Detector Install Question

There is a square four pin connector with switched 12V power behind the carpet and foam on left side of the driver side foot well. The brown lead/the bottom right pin of the connector is +12V.

    Model Y Interior Specs

A significant factor affecting Model Y front leg room is the built up floor. In this still from Sandy Munro's Tesla Model Y tear-down you can see how thick the foam insert under the front floor mat is . This EPP foam raises the floor mat 3 inches over the floor pan and is up to 6 inches thick...

Model Y vs Model X: interior and comfort

No just driver and me in the vehicle at the time. I think you are correct, the spring suspension has to be capable of the maximum load capacity plus trailer tongue weight. This makes it stiff with light loads like a pickup truck ride with no load in the bed. Dual rate springs can help or of...

Model Y vs Model X: interior and comfort

I had the opportunity to drive 30 miles in a new Model Y 10xxx vin, AWD non-performance after driving the same route in the Model 3. There was definitely a notable increase in rear seat ride stiffness compared to the 3. Not bad but noticeably stiff, the 19 inch tires were at 42psi all around...

Cover for Heatpump to reduce Noise

Just had a look under the cover of a newly delivered Model Y, 10xxx vin, AWD non-performance. It looks like the heat-pump has received a sound wrap not the full hard encapsulation of the Model 3 but some soft foam. There was no ability to pull the frunk tub so the angle/picture is a little limited.

    Road noise!

I had the opportunity to drive 30 miles in my Model 3 to pickup a new Model Y 10xxx vin, AWD non-performance. When we drove back the same route in the Model Y the Y definitely seemed quieter. Listening carefully the main sources of noise below 70 mph were road noise coming from the back of the...

    Clunking sound from front drivetrain

I was able to replicate this clunk several times backing up and pulling forward on a hill while turning slightly. It sounds like the oil canning sound from the battery pack heard when supercharging or hard driving when the battery heats up. In the heating/charging case it seems to be due to...

    Model 3 Ingress/Egress

The seat height above the cabin floor is approximately 10 inches in its highest position about 1 inch lower than the Model S Next Generation seat at its maximum height. The measurement is a bit tricky as the footwell on the 3 drops down as you go forward while on the Model S it is flat.

    Deciding on air suspension

A few observations having put over 110k miles on air suspension and now about 1500 with out. 1. Over 3 years I never had any mechanical issues. 2. The air compressor is one of the few sources of noise on an otherwise almost silent car. 3. Air springs are more progressive and give a smother...

    Anyone replace the horn?

The Hella looks almost identical to the existing horns and could probably be a direct replacement on the existing mounts. There is quite a bit of room up front there to fit in the air trumpets as well but they would require a more elaborate installation.

Well I'm not sure what volume of production but they were building the first few cycles. They had just launched reservations in the last few days and had more than 100. I can say it looks like a lot of fun to ride and is amazingly stable, another tribute to electric power-train.

    Soundproofing The P85+

There are still opportunities to go after the sources of the noise and diminish what is coming into the car. I spent quite a bit of time crawling around the back to find the actual noise sources. Soundproofing The P85+

Is this condensation on my taillight normal? (pic attached)

Model S - HPWC (High Power Wall Connector)

Yes probably not all that economically practical at $500 for each end of the connector, but we utilize these connectors already so some of it was paid for. However as the HPWCs seemed to be made of unobtainium this seemed like a reasonable approach. Now Tesla will probably start banging out...

    Any thoughts on the seats?

I love the car but have to agree after over 11,000 miles in under 3 months the seats are firm! On long trips they have definitely resulted in a sore bottom also the seat bottom side bolsters are hard and that has resulted in a sore hip bone. I have to confess that I caved in and purchased a...

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

Wow that is outstanding, any tips? I've done some sub 300 wh/mile 200 mile runs averaging 60 mph but they required some aero tricks etc. I do love to play the energy efficiency game but also have definitely mixed in a good deal of "spirited driving" for 353 wh/mile over 8,400 miles.

    Aero wheels

It will be tough to make a 200 mile trip on the 60kw pack. I'm not saying you can't do it, there are lots of hypemiling tricks to get you there but it is on the edge. There are a few things lithium ion batteries don't like and reduce their cycle life/capacity: being fully charged, fully...
