FSD saved us from being crushed by a semi

WOW! Thanks for posting Ignore those downplaying the whole thing. Like the "well, I wouldnt have been there" ... yet we all have to pass or be passed by semis

    Tesla battery event Hornsdale

Australia's electricity and gas affordability crisis Love the Battery but unfortunately its just another company taking advantage of our #@$%$# up energy policy. ... do we think its a coincidence that the worlds biggest battery finds a profitable home in our modest country that has horrendous...

Volume on Tesla Model 3. Why no gradual rise?

Agree. Not every pause, but definitely some un-pauses result in a “sound spike” which caused me to flinch because it really does sound like the speakers just got hammered. (Predominantly Spotify use) I’m no audio engineer but looking back I now believe all my others cars had some sort of soft...

Anyone tinted the glass roof, results?

Very few of my passengers have realised that there are shades in place, but I agree on the reduced rear headroom, That said, none of my passengers have ever been tall enough (yet) to notice that too :D

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Really don't see how LiDAR is going to be stable when EVERY vehicle on the road is trying to use it ....... And even if they have new, better algorithms to filter out the interference, thats likely going to take shyt loads of processing power.

Anyone tinted the glass roof, results?

Huh!? I don't know how, you virtually can't see them from the outside and barely notice they are there when inside.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Sure, but to me whether ICE or M3, it HIGHLY dependent on the typical types of bitumen (quality) that are on your route & the speed for those routes. i.e. A freeway with a nice smooth top ... SUPER quiet for both with most tires. Then: ICE all you can hear is the bloody engine M3 all you can...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Phantom Braking - still happening for me very occasionally on Freeways ... but in almost every case I note that theres an Overpass ahead of me & (bright) daytime. Not sure if its the overpass itself or very heavy shadows under it ... or both.

HEPA filter in Tesla Model 3?

Default protection. Tesla Model 3 protects owner from unsafe air even without Bioweapon Defense Mode

How good are Tesla’s in Australia’s extreme heat?

... looked at it again today, I seem to get different "output" 1 day vs another ... I'm now wondering if its deliberately regulating A/C output based on what it believes the external temperatures are, not just the internal. Hence only manual operation works to override it.
  14. Gnat666

How good are Tesla’s in Australia’s extreme heat?

Agree, M3 A/C is not what I would have expected, it seems fairly capable, but doesnt run in a consistent way. Maybe its the glass and IR. I have in-roof sun-shades front and rear ... but still it's really hard to get a consistent, comfortable setting.
  15. Gnat666

I absolutely Love driving my Tesla

Absolutely!! It’s even a joy to drive to work, traffic jams are so low stress with FSD and tons of entertainment options.
  16. Gnat666

    Tesla Cybertruck in Australia

As I quietly suspected might happen ... ITS GROWING ON ME !! o_O ... and I suspect it won't be just me. 200k pre-orders may only be the tip of the ice-berg. Elon-magic :D Aside from the AMAZING specs & value, (i.e. lowest dollars per Kwh in ANY electric vehicle, as echoed by quite a few people...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

weird issue today (pre this latest update); Got in the car, no sound. No blinker noise, no music, no alert sounds. Also no LTE/telstra but that seems to be another bug ... that goes away after a few minutes. Did a soft reset, came back fine.

    Tesla Cybertruck in Australia

I wouldn’t nessisarily think the past OS Delivery delays are an indicator for the future, he now has multiple new factories coming online, being built, and has already demonstrated his “3 month” mix to get both US domestic & OS production for M3s. But sure, he’ll have to fulfill some of domestic...

Would you, could you drive a ICE again?

... there seems to be a unusually high percentage of Octavia (vRS) (ex-) owners here .... ! Maybe we're all tuned to hunting down great drives :D

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Sad. And I've got FSD and that didn't help. Seems odd their on-road FSD intelligence is better than their Parking intelligence!

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

PARKING: Only been using the auto park feature recently. Parallel parked, does a lovely job reversing in but during the last step of pulling forward it went WAY too forward in the parking bay (over the front line), and not centered between the cars either. Normal behavior?
  22. Gnat666

Would you, could you drive a ICE again?

Same. And when driving the M3 I avoid roads/freeways that get me to my destination too fast ... don't want the drives to end. Wife has my Octavia vRS, luckily she loves it ... because my adoration for it has diminished very rapidly!
  23. Gnat666

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yeh. It is. BTW, am I imagining it but is the car making more sub-audible electronic harmonic noises as you drive ? ... wouldn't be surprised if "fine tuning" the power electronics to get extra power & one-pedal *might* create a few new harmonic vibrations.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Exactly. I never drove a Tesla before I purchased the M3, but had watched 100's of videos, good & bad, prior to stepping up. Eyes-wide-open. And I've never purchase a vehicle because it was trendy. I purchase because they were awesome engineering mixed with performance i.e. still have my black...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Automatic Navigation; Suggestion was this is linked to calendar, but a bit like google I’ve found it’s intuitively routing me to my work location and the return as soon as you open the car. (Weekdays) ... if only it would flag radars like google does.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I dont mind running alpha or beta items for Tesla if my hands & feet are ready to take back control at a moments notice, so I'm not going to touch Smart Summon with a barge pole until i hear (and see) its mature and not going to damage my car, damage someone else, or make the headlines on some...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Don’t care! LOL Love the killer look & performance of mine. And for 99% of my normal driving I’ll only be able to tell the difference by scrutinising lots of numbers.

How much do you charge from solar in Australia?

Yeh, greatest scam every they are. They have the monopoly in WA, they consistently lose money every year so as tax payers we prop them up, then they pay us shyt for our input. Mostly because their energy & fuel strategies are from the ‘60s! Look forward to the day that plentiful WA sunshine and...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Press and HOLD the dashcam icon before you unplug. It gives a little flash (hard to see when your fingers over it) and the red dot disappears. This makes it safe to unplug.

    Winrun R330 tyres

Always ran Michelins Pilot Sport on my Octavia vRS because they honestly stick like shyt to a blanket when you're in a difficult situation, including & especially the wet. I'd didn't consider their life "short", probably 40k-50k even with my spirited driving. Would love a little unknown brand...

    Model 3 Accessories

Tesla Model 3 Center Control Screen Protector from Amazon Came in a nice rigid cardboard sleeve. Not sure its glass as others are saying, but its certainly a good, reasonably thick (plastic?) sheet. The instructions on the back of the box are incorrect, it talks about removing a second film...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Weird. Press and hold the “car” icon when that stuff happens, it apparently sends feedback to Tesla Various results it seems. Me yesterday on 3 lane freeway (they ARE Free in WA ;) ), heavy rain, spray from cars in front and road lines were virtually disappearing as grey blurs with all the...

I didn't want Tint on my roof, so brought these Glass Roof Sunshades (set of 2) for summer. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07Q9BC8K7/ Arrived. Seems reasonable quality. Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yep, was good to learn this ... eventually. It brakes rather dramatic in FSP when another car crosses / turns right in front of you. Too much because a) somewhat unnecessary because they were going to clear your path fine b) increased risk of someone rear-ending you
  39. Gnat666

The around Australia EV route has now been driven on 10 occasions

Great info thank BH. Now I'm tempted to do it in my 3 ... but I'm sure someone else and their 3 will beat me :p

    Nag on Lane Change

Not that I noticed too much difference in relation to "nudges", I started using the car on the SPORT steering setting, but have since changed to COMFORT ... find it better even for "sporty" driving. ... small chance this may be influencing your wheel.

I crashed my new model 3: here’s what I’ve learned so far.

All great tips, thanks, but this one is 1 I wouldn't have thought of! Cool. But sad for your loss mate.

    Autopilot feature lag gripe.

I guess a few of us are rolling the dice on Tesla's RoboTaxi future ... Rare for a car to move from be a financial sink to an investment. FSD might be consider cheap if & when it finally gets switch-on, and my M3 is earning me several $100s .. or more (?) a day while I'm not using it.

    Smart garage deadbolt

Not really a Tesla topic but given the discerning tech-types here I’d assume there be knowledgeable advice around. Now that I’m keyless with the car I really only need a good electronic deadlock for my inside garage door. Preferably smartphone (Android) and keypad access, long battery life. The...
