How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

I had similar to Sumguy charging habits, i was charging to 50-60% every day in the morning, using 10-15% of SOC and start the charge immediately when i returned at home. I have "lost" 10% of battery ( 70 Kwh now ) on my 2019 model 3 LR . I noticed that my cell voltages and SOC% were a little off...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I have noticed this too. Yesterday i was doing some work in garage and the car was doing some strange sound with radiators fan, maybe trying to equalize the battery ? Car was at 40% SOC and was parked half an hour before. Car is also recovering some KWh ( 70.6 Kwh at the moment ), maybe due to...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

    Ok, thank you for the hint. Today i have discharged the battery to 16% and drove uphill with a 25 Kw output from the battery ( 25/75 = 0.3C ) , the BMS was updating single cells all the time and reads were around 3.4 ( 3.35 -3.45 ) 16 + (100-16 ) x0.045 = 19,8% 3.4 volt @ 20% SOC seems ok ...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

My BMS thinks that my LR battery is 69 Kwh now from 77.8 Kwh new. SOC is 22% and battery cells are at 3.5 Volts. It seems strange to me, because if i watch at this graph : i can see that 3.5 volts are reached at 150 minutes on 214 minutes for total discharge , so 70%. So it seems that 3.5 V...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

In my case i'm not arguing that Tesla is lying. I have bought the LR version cause in the worst case i could rely on a 50 Kwh battery after 8 years and continue to use the car as a second car even if with a reduced range. But i'm worried the battery could fall well below the 70% threshold after...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

My model 3 have lost 78.8 - 69.6 = 9.2 Kwh in less than 2 years. It's loosing 0.4 Kwh every month , so in 5 years it could reach the 70% threshold. I'm doing nothing wrong, charged 100% only twice, i live in North Italy, so not extreme temps. Car is parked always in garage , both at home and at...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

In Europe the warranty is 8 years 160'000 km on model 3 Sr+ and 192000 km on LR e performance, with a threshold of 70% of the capacity when brand new. i doubt Tesla has so much packs with 75% capacity laying around. Maybe they have some cars that are so bad built that they need to swap the car...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

ScanMyTesla has also single cells info now. Do you know what means the greenish bar under the cells voltage value ? Cells are well balanced but greenish bars lenght is not the same. My battery has 69.6 kwh at the moment. Those readings are at 83% SOC.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I charged 40-60% for 99% of the time, charged to 100% only once , car always in garage, at home and at work, 6000 kwh on AC 10 Ampere and 300 kw on DC chargers. And even if i have babysitting the battery still the battery has lost 7.8 Kwh in 2 years and 20000 km. First year i have seen no loss...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Weird... But my 2019 LR is on the same path. How many Kwh we need to reach to claim replacement under warranty ? 75 Kwh * 0.70 = 56.25 kwh ?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

BMS did continue to charge for one more hour... Then stopped when the max cell voltage reached 4.192 , with a 10 mV imbalance between max and min cell voltage.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

My Model 3 LR ( September 2019 ) is losing Kwh like a crazy in last months. Last week was at 68.6 Kwh. I have tried to charge it to 100% and leave to that for the night to force BMS to recalibrate. At some point it showed 101% , LOL. Next morning nominal full pack was up to 69.4 Kwh. Now i'm...

    Clicking noise when accelerating

Clicking sound is back, both in my car and in my brother's one. So i removed the front left rim again and checked all parts again, there is nothing wrong apparently but the nuts : DSC_0526 by MaxRSM posted Oct 10, 2020 at 10:57 AM DSC_0528 by MaxRSM posted Oct 10, 2020 at 10:57 AM it seems the...

    Clicking noise when accelerating

My model 3 and my brother's one have had the same problem. Click noises when steering or accelerating. My brother called Tesla and they sent a mobile assistance guy that assured him it was nothing to worry about, only some quite invisible debris between the machined surface of the hub and the...

Grinding noise on front left in right tight turn at fast speed

I hope, but i'm not sure, maybe the noise will return next week :-/ At the moment my country is under lockdown for covid 19 , so i can drive only around my house. In any case i cannot drive 200 km to the nearest Tesla service center. It's interesting that also in your car there was same loose...

Grinding noise on front left in right tight turn at fast speed

I have loosened the nuts and removed the wheel and surprise suprise : There was a small M6x12 loosen bolt, it dropped to the ground when i removed the wheel. This bolt is intended to keep the brake rotor in position when you thight the nuts and the brake rotor together to the wheel's hub...

Yes, and maybe the one on the front left wheel is damaged... :-/

Thank you for the hint, i'll remove the rim and investigate if there is some missing clip and cables touch some moving part.

Grinding noise on front left in right tight turn at fast speed

This morning i made a video with a go-pro tied to the steering arm LOL : problem now is also at slow speed , so it not depends on lateral G-force but more on steering angle. Noise is only going in drive, never in reverse. Any idea ?

Grinding noise on front left in right tight turn at fast speed

My model 3 was built on September 2019, it is a dualmotor version, 6000 km on the odometer, 18 rims with aero covers. When i go fast in tight right turns i can hear a grinding noise from the front left tyre/brake rotor/suspension. The noise frequency depends on the speed of the car, so more...
