    Piece of foam.

Or perhaps from under the front seat, broken off by feet or something pushed under it?

    Piece of foam.

Looks like part of a cover over something under the seat bottom - likely an electrical connection.

Supercharger - Leavenworth, WA (LIVE Jul 2018, 16 V2 stalls)

A friend just stopped to charge in Leavenworth. One spot iced by a pickup that started and roared away with squealing tires when she backed in next to him. Then two vans from Leavenworth Electric and Excavation took two spots and folks inside started eating lunch. Then this guy pulled in. When...

    Elon & Twitter

I'm more worried about the future of Tesla than the future of Twitter (which probably has no future). Taking the glass-half-full perspective this could be great for Tesla because The Musk is going to have to sell many shares for many years just to cover the financing interest and revenue loss...

    Elon & Twitter

As much as I love the car this guy seems to be increasingly off his rocker. Could it be that he's so wealthy he no longer cares? Will he squander $44 billion just to control a social media platform so he can go on insane rants about crazy conspiracies and people he doesn't like? He just...

    Heater Turned Itself On High

Anyone else encounter this? Our two year old Model Y, while parked in a 72 degree garage and not charging, suddenly turned the heater on to HI and also turned on both front and rear defrosts. I wouldn't have known except I got an alert on my phone. The car also opened the frunk, I'm assuming to...

Didn't you mean to say Minnesotan fire drill?

Screaming. Definitely screaming. Followed by the constructive suggestions.

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Used to be a voice command for checking tire pressures. Now there isn't. Wonder how many other voice commands are gone? You'd think they would be adding commands to compensate for "cleaning up" the screen by burying things. But the light show is kind of fun . . . once.

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

44.25.2 just installed. Had my hopes up but, once again, it seems almost nobody working on the Tesla UI drives much. Still the big, useless, dangerously distracting animation of the car going down the road and no way to shrink or turn it off. Still the menus on top of the map/satellite when they...

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

I thought I would get used to it but this truly horrible UI is ruining the fun I should be having driving my Tesla. The last thing in the world I need going down the road is a big, obnoxious, useless picture of my car going down the road. The only thing it does is encourage me to NOT look at the...

Tesla releases big, new software update with Disney+, Car Wash Mode, remain connected to wifi, and more - 2021.24.x

The elephant in the software is the terrible interface. Taking up 40% of the screen with a picture of the car going down the road is completely useless and a dangerous invitation for drivers to not watch the road. Please, Elon, give us the option to turn that bad design decision off.

Software update 2020.48.26.x update, font size problems

I really gave it my best shot to get used to the new UI but I just went from disappointed to angry every time I drive our Y. I live in a rural area and the satellite view is a favorite, and very useful, feature. I want it as big as possible. And, of course, the last thing in the world I need...

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

Thanks for the update. It's still happening with our Y but it seems less often, probably because all the steep hills have been mostly snow and ice covered and we have to creep down them (regen definitely a plus in that situation). I'll be very interested to learn if engineering discovers...

    Supercharger - Entiat, WA

There is absolutely no reason to pressure the Town Planner or any or Winthrop town official. The town supports EV charging. And I think acarney is right that trying to put the squeeze on Tesla is wasted energy. If you really want a supercharger in Winthrop - something we Methow Valley Tesla...

    Supercharger - Entiat, WA

There are definitely more visiting Teslas in the Methow Valley, most from Puget Sound I'm guessing. If they are coming via Stevens Pass I can see them skipping the slower route through Entiat and Chelan after topping up in Leavenworth. But I would expect those coming via Cle Elum to head for...

    Supercharger - Entiat, WA

The Town of Winthrop invited Tesla many months ago to install a supercharger on town property with needed power close by. No response. They then pursued funding for a CCS/CHAdeMO fast charger on town property but lost out on the grant. As I've said before it makes perfect sense to have fast...

    Supercharger - Entiat, WA

The TwispWorks 80A charger is often taken so I wouldn't count on it. The one in Mazama (Mazama Country Inn) is less used, and the one at Pine Near Campground in Winthrop is usually available, although the parking spot might be taken. The one in Pateros is also usually available. Winthrop is...

    Jeda Hub for Model Y

It took two or three emails but, for the second time, they did cancel my order and refund my money (showed up three business days later). Other places I've ordered from recently ran into the same, unexpected, shipping and particularly Customs delays. They were just much better about...

Discoloration of Trim from Carwashes - Tesla Replacement Trim Coming?

We have been mostly hand washing our Y using car wash soap and get the same oil-slick look on the black trim. A lot of it has wiped off with a clean, dry rag. The rest took a bit of WD40 on the rag, or an auto cleaning wipe seems to work.

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

i-booster? I have an i-booster? Is there a chance I have a flux capacitor too because that would be a dream come true. Oops. Turns out I'm the wise guy posting the bad joke. Thanks again for the help.

Discoloration of Trim from Carwashes - Tesla Replacement Trim Coming?

Same here. After washing at home with professional car wash soap (don't even get started on that thread) the trim has the rainbow discoloration. Haven't tried clearing iti with other cleaning agents. Sad to see on such an expensive car.

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

I think you are right that it's regen kicking in and out but hard not to worry when the shuddering is strong enough to make you wonder if it's doing damage. So far applying the brakes doesn't stop it, even if I slow down to 5mph. It's nearly 4 hours for me to the nearest service center so that's...

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

Thanks. Makes me feel like I'm not alone. So how do put known new issues on Tesla's radar?

    No warning blow out

Any chance the tires were underinflated? That's a common cause of blowouts, particularly at high speed when heat builds up more quickly.

    Problems getting Jeda USB Hub

I bought a M3 charging pad from them last year. Frustratingly slow shipping but it did arrive and worked great. Glide, if you have actual evidence the hubs don't exist, or that this is a scam, it would be helpful to share.

    Problems getting Jeda USB Hub

When I ran out of patience the first time there was no problem canceling and getting a refund. When they said they were close to being ready to ship I ordered again on September 24. Got an email October 20 that shipments had begun, three weeks late - but only a small number a week because of...

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

Thanks. Same hill only because it is close to home. Road with no lines (small, rural town) and autopilot not engaged. Regen kicking in and out sounds plausible. Wish there was an option to turn regen off completely to see if that's it. I would ask Tesla what might be going on but they will never...

Model Y Shuddering on Steep Downhill

Anyone else run into this? When our Y is charged close to 90%, or higher for starting long trips, (little to no regen) and we do down a steep hill there is often a serious shuddering, kind of like ABS brakes engaging very strongly. Loud sound and shakes the car. It happens when we let off the...

Driver Side door creaks when opening

Check to see if the door panel is rubbing against the fender panel while opening. We have one door on our MY that is slightly out of line and it rubs a bit while opening, sometimes creating a creaking sound.

M3 Winter Tire Package For Sale

And he did. Tires are sold. If this club ever gives an award for road trip endurance I think tharasix is the hands down winner . . . along with his trusty M3.

Michelin X-Ice a good winter tire?

We live in serious snow country and have used X-Ice for several years. They've been great and are definitely quieter than other snow tires we have used. Last year we used the M3 winter tire package from Tesla and thought the Pirellis were very comparable to the X-ice for traction and handled...

M3 Winter Tire Package For Sale

18" Aero wheel winter tire package for Model 3. (Pirelli Sotozero II tires). Used one winter - no more than 3500 miles, mostly on ice and snow. 9/32+ tread left. $1300 ($2200 new with tax). Willing to bring them part way to you if you are in the Pacific Northwest. We traded the 3 for a Y.
  34. E

    Which Winter/Snow Tires

If it helps we live in serious snow country and have used X-ice in the past. For our M3 we bought the Tesla 18" package with second generation Sottozero tires and they were great - comparable to the X-ice for traction. For our MY we ordered the TSportline package with third generation Sottozero...

Raining inside my 2-week-old Model Y

We had the same leak in a new Y - water under pressure (hose or touchless wash) getting in at the top center of hatch. Service just adjusted the hatch to close more tightly at the top and problem solved. Apparently there's some play if the hinge bolts are loosened.

Voice command won’t open the glovebox?

"Open Glovebox" was working on our M3 but has never worked on our MY, along with one or two other voice commands. Seems strange. Tesla could save all of us this wondering and posting if they just revealed what's going on and why. Then again, with any other vehicle I've owned I was totally stuck...

    Supercharger - Entiat, WA

I've said it once, I'll say it again. If you are traveling the North Cascades Highway, a supercharger in Winthrop makes sense. Trust me, you will suck a lot of battery making the pull from the Burlington or Arlington supercharger over the two passes. Winthrop is where you will stop to shop or...

    Update 24.6.9

Installed two days ago on our Y. Only thing I've found so far is loss of the "SAVE" popup when you adjust things while using a profile. Tried a soft reboot, no difference.

Anyone else try recently? I hate to have to dust off the ICE for a needed Spokane. Thanks.

    Price drop

Seems like some kind of thank you is in order for helping Q2 results by taking delivery of a Y at what is now a $3K premium. At least some free supercharging and/or free premium connectivity? It's only been 4 months since Y deliveries began, less the month of COVID shutdown, which probably means...

    New Model Y Price Reduction

We picked our Y 5 weeks ago and, yes, this price reduction hurts a bit. But, in the end, it IS a good thing because lower prices means more EVs on the road, which is good for the earth and humanity. Then again, this is a pretty quick price reduction from when the Y was first available so the...

Please tell me Tesla still supplies the adapter for J1772 plug

Yes. Our new Y came with the J1772 adapter. The 240v adapter for the mobile charger that used to come with the M3 is no longer included.

    Model 3 Leftovers For Sale

I recommend using their trade in calculator (tesla.com/tradein) to find out. I did that before ordering the M3 (non-Tesla trade in) and before ordering the Y and nobody tried to sell me a car - just got an email with the value. Because I waited more than 30 days before ordering (and drove...

Cover for Heatpump to reduce Noise

The noise is not from the compressor so the foam wrap is kind of silly although I suppose it can't hurt. The noise is from where the valve and pumps are. It's noticeable in our new Y (mostly when the battery is being cooled) but hardly intolerable. Remember, in an ICE vehicle the compressor only...

    Model 3 Leftovers For Sale

Mats, spare tire and charger gone. Winter tire and wheel set (4 total) still available. We live in serious snow country and have used Michelin X-Ice tires and these Pirellis are very comparable. Nice to have on if you travel the NW passes in winter when traction tires are required.

JD Power ranks Tesla last in Quality Control Study

I'm the same. I couldn't care less about small cosmetic issues unless they increase wind noise or let the weather in. And I agree - the cars are amazing and the manufacturing focus has been right where I want it - on the battery and drive train. The cosmetics will certainly improve but consider...

The End of my MY Story (at least for now)

Just take a breath and buy an ICE vehicle that meets your standards. You will be much happier. Later on there will be EVs you can live with. They will exist because of supportive early adopters willing to live with some imperfection. Yes, I know that sounds smarmy but it's just the simple truth...
