    So… Highland is out…

Just to add to the whole 'missing stalks' issue though, I think if you were someone who quickly got used to the switch from traditional front mounted binnacle instruments to a single big screen, then I can't see you having problems getting used to the lack of stalks.

    So… Highland is out…

Received my M3 Highland LR yesterday having previously run a M3P since December 2019. Only done about 100 miles but initial impressions are that it's a really nice upgrade to the previous car. As has been well documented already, the ride is massively improved but I'm comparing it to a P so...

    So… Highland is out…

I'm actually looking forward to the challenge of learning to use the new controls - a bit like how I enjoy having to think about my gear changes in my old 911 that has a dogleg change for 1st gear. We'll see though. Car arrives in early Feb.

any recommendations for reliable air inflator

I picked up the Dewalt 18V battery one, simply because I have a bunch of tools that use that battery. Works great and very handy. DeWalt DCC018N-XJ 18V Li-Ion XR Cordless Inflator - Bare - Screwfix I got mine for £100 in a sale (bare ie. without the battery)

[UK] Is it worth buying a 2019 M3P in 2023?

I'm just coming to the end of my 4 year lease with my P. 46k miles (averaging 275Wh/m). Have to say, whoever gets this as a second hand car will be getting a whole lot of car for the money. Still looks like new after a good wash and there's no real battery degradation that I can notice...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

No idea but I presume that if you place an order for something advertised then you'd expect to get that. I specifically waited to place an order until after they'd updated all the information on their website with the new revisions to the car. Just seemed odd to then have to ask them to make...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

After chasing Tesla a couple of times via SMS, I've been told that orders that 'would like' an upgraded Model 3 need to be put on hold until January. Really not sure what would have happened had I not contacted them to check about this given their website is clearly selling the new model. Are...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

Not quite sure I understand you there tbh. Their website describes the new version of the Model 3 very clearly (as far as I can see) and I'd expect any order placed via their website to be for what is described on the website. If something different to what's described arrives, I'm not sure...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

Placed an order last week for the new 3 LR to replace my 3 P whose lease is up in December. My app is quoting a delivery of mid to end December which seems way to early for the new revision model. ...actually I just heard back from Tesla after I queried the same and they've said they're going...

Multiple safety systems failure (M3P) completely out of the blue

Just a quick update. Tesla had me booked in for last Thursday to get it fixed but said that it could be up to 4 hours wait while they did the work. I said I couldn't do that so they ended up sending out a ranger this morning to my work. Fixed in 10 minutes so all sorted now. All a bit of...

Multiple safety systems failure (M3P) completely out of the blue

Got home and took a look and yep - there's a loose cable that's been fouling on the front passenger tyre with wires exposed. I've messaged Tesla and sent them a photo and asked them to send out a ranger to fix it. Will chase roadside assistance tomorrow as well though unless they get back to...

Yep, good point. I'll do that when I get home tonight.

Multiple safety systems failure (M3P) completely out of the blue

Yeah, thanks for confirming what I thought. I don't really have much choice in driving it unless they come and take it away and bring me another which I think is unlikely. Just a bit frustrating that I've still not had any reply from the service request yet.

Multiple safety systems failure (M3P) completely out of the blue

So I had my 2020 M3P announce multiple failed systems this morning as I was pulling up at a traffic light. Completely out of the blue with no prior signs that anything was wrong. Stability control ABS Vehicle hold Traction control Lane avoidance Regen Brakes now have to pushed much harder...

    multiple systems disabled

Exact same warnings came up on my 2020 M3P this morning. I've sent a service request through the app - not heard back yet.

    Tesla Alternative?

Went for a test drive of the Ioniq 6 on Saturday as a potential replacement for my M3P towards the end of the year. Very nicely built, very quiet and relaxed, great ride (what isn't compared to an M3P!), a bit more squishy handling as expected. Seemed nice enough inside but didn't feel...

Tesla charger - any known issues with occasional low supply voltage?

This. Luckily I have a big garage. At some point though, I do also plan to get a physical earth rod installed as well.

Tesla charger - any known issues with occasional low supply voltage?

DNO weren't interested in fixing the line. I swapped the Matt-E box for an appropriate RCD and it's been absolutely fine since then. Got the money I paid the installers back and resold the Matt-E box on ebay. Hope you get yours sorted!

Source for a painted OEM wing mirror case for M3?

Submitted a request through the app and got a quick response and quote for £145 incl. of VAT for the sprayed casing. Apparently that part doesn't come pre-sprayed (at least here in the UK). A bit daft really as I'm guessing that it will end up being sprayed by the same bodyshop I got the...

Source for a painted OEM wing mirror case for M3?

Bashed my driver's side wing mirror against another car coming the other way on a tight road the other day (probably 6 of one, half a dozen of the other). Smashed the mirror glass and badly cracked the case which also popped off (recovered and taped up). I've sourced and fitted an OEM...

MYLR horn 1st repair experience @ Manchester

All my experiences with Tesla Manchester in Stockport have been very good - they seem to provide a great balance between a traditional 'value add' car showroom and the new 'Tesla' stark as f**k customer experience.

What interior temp is your app reporting today?

My brother sent me a weird video clip that he took of an M3 parked up charging in the sun yesterday. Car all locked up, no-one around, but the windscreen washers appeared to be spraying the car. Not a feature I'm aware of! Sentience maybe?

    Is this a new record?

Within the first 3 or 4 days of getting my M3P, I scraped the rear passenger wheel on a particular corner kerb near where I live. 2 years later, Kwik fit changed my rear tyres and happened to swap the rear wheels as well. Within 2 days of that I scraped the same corner on the same kerb so...

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

Ditto here. The P's harsh ride can be a bit of a pain in the neck sometimes so if the LR's is better that would probably swing it for me next time round. Is the LR's range that much better if you drive them the same? I only do 60 miles a day with the occasional long trip so range hasn't ever...

Maybe still a honeymoon period but I’ve never had to wait for a charge to finish

I've had very few experiences of using Superchargers but the ones I've had so far have been excellent and definitely makes me glad I have a Tesla EV.

Scheduled departure charge to 100% when off peak ends 00:30am?

If I set the car to charge to 100% by 9am and I've told the car that my 4hr cheap rate ends at 00:30am (Octopus Go Faster) am I right in thinking that the car is 'intelligent' enough to only charge to say 90% (or some other value) during the cheap rate time and then do the last 10% top-up just...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

Just as a quick follow-up to this. Relocating the antenna within the reach of it's own 1.5m wire didn't appear to help. I asked Octopus to request a T3 external aerial be fitted but their response was comical:- "Our engineers have been in touch and notified us that T3 aerials are very new...

Did a bit of Googling and found the following document which is very useful:- https://www.smartdcc.co.uk/media/1980/comms_hub_aerial_range_v14_2018-04-16.pdf So by the looks of it I have the 'T2 Cellular Panorama Aerial' - and it seems like there is T3 alternative that could be mounted...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

He said that 'they' would attempt to talk to it remotely and that they'd 'have a few things they could try' over the next week or so. As to how 'they' would do that without any kind of connection is beyond me though. Magic perhaps. He had to keep going outside to get a connection to his PDA...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

I've finally (after 6 months waiting) had my smart meter fitted and unsurprisingly it doesn't appear to be connecting the WAN. We're quite rural and although we get a 4G signal, the meter is in the cellar. I realise it was a long shot but I figured it was worth a try. Anyhow, the meter...

Tesla All Weather Protection Kit [mudflaps/ppf] - Anyone in the UK Been Contacted?

Hadn't received my email, but just checked our email gateway logs and can see that an email from Tesla was rejected on the 9th due to an SPF failure (a misconfiguration at their server end). I'll have to contact them to see if I can get it resent.

Charge port latch fault - AC charging reduced DC Fast Charging / Supercharging may be unavailable I've had this warning pop-up a couple of times in the last couple of weeks although I've not seen any changes related to charging. Matt:e box available

Hi, I have a practically unused Matt:e earthing box thingy (please read other threads on here about these things) available if anyone ends up needing one as part of their installation. I think they're a waste of time, but some installers seem to insist on them. It was installed with my Tesla...

Leased M3 - should it show in my Tesla account?

When I contacted Lex about this, they just told me this was correct and is the way it is because it's leased through them. I also emailed Tesla about it but never got a reply. Hasn't caused any problems for me though so far although, I never did receive my referral 1000 miles.

Tesla Home Charger from Private Seller

If it's a black one ie. 'Elon signature version' then chances are it was a referral gift from Tesla. My brother in law also got one which he passed on to me. No idea about the warranty side of things to be honest.
