    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

What places other than Carvana, Carmax, and Tesla are you guys using to sell your existing cars? Seems like once you get past those options it starts to get scammy.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Crazy that 4/23 orders are just now getting VINs on the east coast compared to the amount of M3Ps in California. I guess this is all from the timing of the order page going live, but it seems like if you missed that very first batch on the east coast you got pushed way out for the end of...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Did you just upload your current insurance or did you actually upload proof of insurance with your new VIN? I was just at the Charlotte SC a few days ago and they had someones performance sitting out there unlocked on the lot.... I would go there early and make sure yous is locked.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Most people don't understand the value of PPF. If you are saying things like "it's cheaper to repaint", you're missing the point. If you don't care about rock chips slowly destroying the front of your car, that's totally fine. Most people don't. If it does bother you, that means you have to...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

As someone who lives near a service center and has seen every Tesla model in every color multiple times: the MSM/SG is by far the least interesting of all available colors. When you see them all in person it's really obvious. Not saying it's worth losing the tax credit over though. Ultra Red...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

And here is a PSA for everyone who doesn't know: If you are just trying to get the best 0-60 or drag run, DO NOT put the car in Track mode. Track mode does not heat the battery, it cools it! You are actually hurting your performance. Track mode is designed more for performance endurance, which...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

No, I don't think it works this way. Go read the manual for the Plaid, it has very similar language around putting the car in Plaid mode. I own a Plaid. When I put the car in Plaid mode it most definitely is NOT heating the battery. However, putting the car in drag strip mode most certainly...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Might work. I think it would require some intentional training to get your finger to find the edge of the screen though. Also for me the Model X screen would be in a different place than the Model 3 screen. Plus, the model X screen is tilted to the left.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

As someone who has driven a Model X for the last year, don't worry about the lack of stalks. There's two ways to look at this issue: as a rental car, or as a car you own. As a rental car, yes, lack of stalks is different and would be annoying. As a car you own, you get used to it very...

FWD hits roof after 2024.14.6 update

I doubt recalibration fixed anything. The problem is that the USS stops working at random times in the new update. You can clearly see on the screen if the doors will fly open before you hit the button because the icon will show them fully open. It probably won't get fixed until another update.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I drove a highland recently as well. Couldn't believe how much quieter it was and how nice the ride was. In some ways it was better than the air suspension on my X. I was very impressed with the car compared to my 2020 M3P. They've come a long way. Agree it had lazier handling than the outgoing...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

I've bought 3 Teslas and would not recommend paying them until delivery day after you have looked over the car. They will send texts pushing you to pay, but there is zero benefit to doing so. It will not delay your delivery. It's good for them, bad for you.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

By the way, you can see his M3P has the latest software 2024.14.7. A bunch of people above were saying they don't ship cars on the latest software. As someone who has purchased 3 Teslas, that USED to be the case, but it's not anymore. My first one in 2020 came on old software and took like 6...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

This is the reality of the batches that they do. They may have started with a white interior batch, but it looks like they are now switching to black for a bit, so you got put behind that. Could also be your external color though. Wish someone who understood how the Fremont factory operates...

Just FYI there are actually 3 suspension settings. The sportiest only activates in Track Mode.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Thanks for your impressions. My main hope with this car, coming from a 2020 M3P, is that the build quality, ride comfort, and NVH is better. I'm actually less fussed about the performance. The current Performance 3 is fine from a power perspective, although like everyone else I would like more...

    Rear seat headphones?

There is a limit in the amount of bluetooth devices that can connect. This includes all phone as keys as well as the key FOB. I found I had issues connecting when I had too many devices connected -- but there was no error explaining this. Try going into the bluetooth menu and disconnecting...

Advice Needed: Buy X Plaid now…or wait?

The 44 update almost completely removes the vibration for me. I can only feel a minor vibration 45mph now. Why does the Plaid do this? My guess is this:

    Charge door not opening

It will break again. Mine worked for a bit after the same update but then eventually stopped again.

Model X Long Range vs Plaid

Get the LR. I have the Plaid but it's not worth that much more than the LR. You have to remember it's a giant heavy car. The extra power isn't as fun IMO as it would be in the Model S.
  22. E

    Charge door not opening

How is this "confirmed" exactly? The problem is that it will work for quite a while sometimes before it stops again. Are you confirming because you just got it replaced and it works?

At what speed does the Air Suspension automatically change to "Very Low"

This is false. Richard has a Model S which has the "toggle to use low as default." This setting does not exist on Model X. Again, low is the default mode on Model X.
  24. E

At what speed does the Air Suspension automatically change to "Very Low"

I think you're misunderstanding a bit. The car is always in low. You can't NOT set it to always be in low. Low is your only real option. If you set it to medium the car will go right back to low over 55mph. Technically the car will raise up on certain unpaved roads temporarily, but in...
  25. E

At what speed does the Air Suspension automatically change to "Very Low"

When in low it does not raise back up, except in the case you have suspension set to comfort or auto mode and it detects you are on an unpaved road.

Model X LR and Plaid Brake Upgrade Now Available?

I have a new plaid that already has the red calipers and (I'm assuming) brake pads. I do believe they are high performance pads because they make more noise than normal pads and also leave wear streaks on the front rotors.

    2023 MX Rear HVAC

From my experience it only turns on HVAC based on captains chair seating, not third row. Also, car seats don't seem to distribute the weight in a weigh that triggers the HVAC. If you sit yourself in the captain's chair though it should turn on the rear. I noticed if you use the control rear...

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

It's been stated in multiple ways, but I'll try again, using less words. Cars are depreciating assets -- but they're still assets. Their value contributes to your net worth. You can trade them for other goods and services if you want. In an almost unheard of way, the value of these cars...

Spacing between FWD and second row seat?

For what it's worth mine only touches the door itself when I move the captain's chair all the way forward. However the passenger side has plenty of room. I wonder if all the driver's side captain's chairs have this issue?

Spacing between FWD and second row seat?

I have this same problem and on the same Driver's side. Did you ever find a fix?

Why does the X never seem to turn on the climate in the back automatically?

It's a new X. Oh it knows if someone isn't buckled in in the third row alright. It just isn't using that information to turn on the HVAC back there.
  32. E

Why does the X never seem to turn on the climate in the back automatically?

Thanks for the reply. So the only sensors in the car are in the captains chairs, and if the car seat/child doesn't set it off then you're screwed. Interesting there are no sensors in the third row to activate the HVAC.
  33. E

Why does the X never seem to turn on the climate in the back automatically?

6 seater with two child seats in the captains chairs. It doesn't matter if kids in the seats or adults back in the third row -- the rear climate just never seems to turn on by itself. Am I missing something?

Is the 2023 Model X suspension just not refined?

I've owned all the Tesla models now except the S, and IMO they all have pretty poor suspension. The Y is the absolute worst. My 3 performance is actually a better ride overall than the LR Y, and that's with the new comfort suspension. The X is much better than the Y -- but you're right, it...

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

I agree with your thoughts. It's a great car with a poor suspension -- and I have the "comfort suspension". It surprises me the range of opinions here, but I guess a lot of that comes down to life experience and what else you have recently driven. It's much worse than a 2020 Subaru Forrester...

    2023 MYP impressions

I have an 11/4 built Austin MYLR. My impressions of the car are that the ride is still too harsh. My car should have the new "comfort suspension" but it's just not comfortable enough, even with the 19" wheels. It's not "bad", certainly wouldn't get rid of the car because of it, but it still...

    Model Y comfort suspension?

I just was at the service center comparing model Ys. Everyone I checked, from Fremont or Austin, had that same suspension that ogkris has. They were all very recent builds. So I'm starting to question if that isn't the comfort suspension after all.

Protecting Glove box area from passenger scrapes

Does anyone else have the problem of the dash/glovebox material used in the Model 3 being extremely prone to scrapes that can't be rubbed away? You breathe on it and it seems to leave a permanent mark. What are you folks using, if anything, to protect the area or perhaps remove these marks...

Track Mode: Heating and cooling the battery

When track mode is first engaged you can hear a whine which I assume is it heating the battery. Can someone explain to me how peak performance in the model 3 battery works? It needs to heat up to a certain temperature to lower impedance -- do we have any indication of the battery temp from in...

    Performance Waiting Room

Sure, there were 2 tiny paint blemishes. The only one that I cared about was on the rear trunk lid. There is small damage to the paint and it looks like someone tried to rub it off with something abrasive and scratched the clear coat. The hood also isn't perfectly even on both sides. One side...

    Performance Waiting Room

3 days with the car. Not a full review but just some things I wanted to mention. All of these are directly related to my expectations based on what other people have talked about on these forums and others: 1. Car is completely buttoned down. No rattles at all. Feels extremely solid...
