    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

R2 (and R3) Rear passenger-side charging ports? Consider they've had plenty of time to think through NACS, the Tesla SC experience, and yet, they place it there? As a Tesla driver, my first response was a face palm. 🤦‍♂️ Someone at Rivian isn't paying attention, though they've even...

    Supercharger - Bennington, VT

The new car firmware should now tell you that the battery is cold and needs X minutes to preheat before it begins charging or ramps up as you plug in.

There’s an app for that. Scan My Tesla is one of them. But agree that info would be best on the car’s screen.

    Trains displayed as trucks

If I am the first car stopped at a RR crossing, the screen displays a constant parade of trucks passing in front. I'm not too worried about that; I sort of find it amusing. I would be much more worried if I was a FSD customer and the car thought trucks were train cars.

    Model Y trunk not working!!

Once fixed, and they will at n/c hopefully, check the tab at the back of the floor cover to see if it might have been stuck between the back of the car and the hatch door. I have a love/hate relationship with that thing.

    Phone key doesn't always connect

I have found that when the car is set to Sentry Mode, the phone app "un-ghosts" the car icon very much faster, and so far in the last couple of months, the car responds reliably to the phone key function when approached. I have no idea why, since sentry operation from the phone is operating on...

    Front license plate holder

For an accessory on a Tesla, it isn't all that expensive. I chose it because at the time it had a good reputation, was easy on and easy off. For washing bugs and cleaning the front of the car, the cleaning aspect was the main consideration. Tesla's own glue-on solution was a bad idea, IMO. The...

    Front license plate holder

 These damage pro-con arguments of one frame vs. another frame are absolutely insane. If a multi-thousand pound vehicle backs into the front of your Tesla, or if the front of your Tesla bumps into another vehicle, no license plate frame of any design is going to influence the expensive...

    Car Key Evolution-what's next ?

Had a mobile service call last summer. Of course, they needed to get into my car. Car was "off" and locked. He arrived a couple minutes earlier than planned. I went outside, the back hatch was already open and the insides had already been removed to get to the inside part of the side tail light...

    Don't buy a model Y now...

Tesla can't decide on their own to turn on the functionality of the matrix headlights. USA/North America and Europe have different laws allowing their use and certification.

Agree 100% with the above comments on design and usage problems. And.... any official word from Tesla about any of this mess? < crickets > I took the Y out for the first time in a week since it was cold-soaking outside (no garage), but plugged in. Just had to! Got all the way up to the mid...

Like I said, I didn't verify the numbers. The VLOG must have been wrong. My Y Illinois plate from Dec. 2022 is in the 50K numbers, so pretty much debunks what I heard. I will say that the numbers have gone through the roof since standard trim Y's have been in the $40's. Anyway, to tie this...

    Supercharger - Oak Brook, IL

Learned tonight on a pretty reliable YouTube VLOG, that in 2022, Illinois had 19,000 new EV registrations, whereas the new registrations in 2023 that number had grown to nearly 90,000. That's new yearly registrations, not the total registered Illinois EV's one the road, which would be a larger...

Oakbrook is V3 with 8 stalls. Eight, unlike the TV show title, isn't enough. Not even close. At midnight it isn't unusual to see 6 of 8 stalls in use. Very popular location. There will be another one built about 1.5 miles away next year, and that won't even cover the need. Even peppered on the...

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

Well... I think they're suspending the rentals for more than one reason, as Hertz is getting rid of their EV fleets (read: Teslas) due to perceived increasing repair costs and dropping resale values because Tesla keeps reducing the prices of new cars almost every quarter. This charging debacle...

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

I've even seen pieces of wood stuck into L2 J1772's and some other odd thing in a Tesla NACS handle when out there. Yes, people are horrible. Makes me want to put together a Charger Fix-it Kit™, which would include, among other things, a wooden hammer to help knock out crap found in or on...

^ watched that earlier, and Kyle and friends make some good points; many which we've already pointed out in this and other similar threads. I can't help but to think that in a week, or soon, that EV owners that haven't yet gone the L2 route will cave. This will completely overwhelm electricians...

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

People dropping the charge handles and not re-attaching them into the holder really bugs me. They do that in the summer. But dropping the handles into the snow when they're done in the winter is a horrible practice and clogs the contacts with ice.

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

Actually, a portable heat gun is not a bad idea, but I'd also add a can of compressed air as well. Melting snow into water might just let it run into somewhere else where you wouldn't want it to go, maybe actually freezing the charging handle into the charger receptacle. Be careful. This pic...

Short term temperature-wise, we're not out of the woods here in Chicago. Lows the next few night are: Monday -12ºF (tonight) Tuesday -12º Wednesday -2º Thursday 8º Friday 0º Saturday -7º Sunday -10º After that, some relief. This isn't going to get fixed very soon, methinks.

Kyle did a great job reporting the Colorado EA situation last season, didn't he? They needed the shaming he gave them, and it has probably helped to get the company that operates them off their butts. I wonder how it is out there right now as their temps are very similar to last year? My L2 has...

I wonder why these stalls are marked inoperable. Is it because they really are broken, or is it because there's a bricked car blocking the stall? I'm sure it is some of both, but I sure hope it isn't the former.

Model Y 2024 new range estimates

Article I just read only mentioned the Y LR. So, if all models have had their range spec. altered, and I can't believe they've suddenly changed out all the battery packs overnight, might it be due to the EPA cycle changing in 2024, or a response to pending litigation action?

Model Y 2024 new range estimates

    Premium Connectivity Availability

I can find no info about it's use for Tesla cars. Cell phone service, through T-mobile, is hinted at. I think we probably won't see satellite service for cars for some time. And if/when it does happen, the cost might be fairly high.

Why is Model Y useless at demisting windscreen?

It does not take much humidity to fog a windshield. One thing that helps before a car get into winter service is to start with absolutely clean glass. I suffered with the problem with mine all last winter and with other cars. I finally began watching YouTube videos on how to super-clean interior...

    Car Key Evolution-what's next ?

"Open the Y driver door, please, HAL." Many have already named their Teslas "HAL." So this fits. "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that" is then the appropriate response.

    Car Key Evolution-what's next ?

My hope of what's next is that my cars can reliably recognize phones as a keys. Very often mine can't, or walk-away lock is unavailable. Even when everything is turned on and set correctly and supposed to be working. At the very least, BT from the phone should work, but sometimes it can only...

Did Tesla Remove Premium Connectivity Subscription from the Phone App?

This makes the most sense. Thanks! But I couldn't find anything on the screen to manage subscriptions in the car.
