Tesla to add the ability to Charge EV with excess solar

Finally got all the required firmware updates last week to run Charge on Solar. I’ve checked it several times to find that some of my generation is still going to the grid when I think it shouldn’t be. For example right now I’m generating 6.7 kW. The house is using 1.4 kW, the PowerWall is at...

    Firmware updates

Can I turn off FSD, get latest standard firmware and turn FSD back on sometime in the future when the branches are synched? I hardly use FSD and could really use Charge on Solar.

    Firmware updates

Why am I so far behind on firmware? Currently on 2023.7.30. Apparently you need 2023.26 in order to take advantage of Charge on Solar. So far this billing period I’ve sent a little over 250 kWh back to the grid and basically got peanuts for it. 250 kWh would would have charged my M3 SR+ 5 times...

Tesla to add the ability to Charge EV with excess solar

I have a model 3, solar panels, Tesla gateway and a PowerWall. I’ve read that Drive on Sunshine was added to the Tesla app with version 4.19. I’m currently running version version 4.22 and Drive on Sunshine isn’t on there. Did I miss something?

Powerwall(s) required for Solar model 3 charging?

Thinking about going Solar for the house. Have talked to several vendors and getting conflicting info. One says I would need 2 Powerwalls to charge my model 3 std+, another says 1 would do it albeit somewhat slower. Anyone have experience with this? Using Tesla wall connector in the garage.

Is Tesla giving away its competitive edge with opening SCs?

I think this is a huge mistake. Got my model three in February 2020. Covid locked everything up shortly after that. Now that things have loosened up a bit the wife and I have taken three road trips. Never had a single second of range anxiety during each trip. I did notice that the superchargers...

Are Tesla authorized body shops really necessary?

To add insult to injury I received an estimate this afternoon from a local non authorized body shop of $693.00 for the same repair. The authorized shop was three times that.

Are Tesla authorized body shops really necessary?

Managed to get a bad scratch (down to bare metal) on the back of the trunk lid of my M3. Took it to the only Tesla authorized body shop in Raleigh NC. Got floored by the 2K estimate to fix it. Other than the back up camera on the trunk lid I am aware of no other sensors. I am being charged...

Bike rack and back up sensors

Allen S-102 Premier 2 Bike Carrier. It’s on Amazon for around 90 bucks. Fits great and holds my bike securely. I generally put a towel under the top bar pads as they will leave a faint mark after long use. Easily buffed out but better to eliminate in the first place.

Bike rack and back up sensors

Got my M3 in early February. I’m an avid bike rider and ride pretty much every day on the local greenways. I got an Allen bike rack for the M3 and it holds the bike securely and does not damage the car. With the rack and bike mounted on the car however backing up is a real adventure. The...
