2013 P85 Defective Rear Toe Link

My son and I have just replaced the rear suspension arms in his 2015 S70D, including the toe links. We were planing to cut the bolts, but didn't need to do so. They simply came off after wiggling them a bit. Saved us a lot of time.

    Battery Fuse Replacement 2016 Model S 90D

Just to add another data point. Had the warning on my 2014 P85+. SC checked and cleared the warning message for free. No repairs were needed. Had the HV battery replaced a couple of years ago with a 350kW pack.

Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

add one more to the list. I love my 2014 P85+. I have no plan to sell it. More than once I was tempted to buy another one of similar age.

What else can break on my 2014 Model S?

OP, you got most things covered. My 2014 P85+ heater core was replaced once. Our 2015 70D had the battery heater and a 4-way coolant valve replaced. We have been happy with their reliability.

Gen 3 wall connector wand/cable on gen 2 body?

After testing a bit, the purple and blue wires of the two devices are equivalent. So, the gen3 cable worked on gen2 device using only the purple and blue cable.

    Replacing front upper A-arms

A quick update. After nearly two years and ~30k miles and still no rust, so the sanding and painting worked.

Gen 3 wall connector wand/cable on gen 2 body?

I am stumped. The gen 2 wall connector wand/cable has two small single wires, but the gen 3 has 4. Anyone knows what they are used for and which two on the gen 3 are equivalent to the 2 on the gen 2? Can a gen 3 wand be used used with the gen 2 body? The first picture is of a gen 2 showing two...

Pre Dec 2014 S Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit

Working on cars is my way to unwind and relax the mind. This would be a good project if I can get help activating it or shown how to do it myself (better).

Parts list and instructions to add 2016+ center console into 2012-2016 MS

Although the 2017 center console doesn't have the charger ports, there is a molded path on the cupholder plastic for routing cable to the charger ports. This prevents the cable from entangling with the moving mechanism of the cupholder and allows it move smoothly. Here is a short video of it.

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

Parts list and instructions to add 2016+ center console into 2012-2016 MS

Great info here, many thanks. Just wanted to share a couple of things I did differently. I ended up buying a 2017 console from Ebay. It didn't have the UBS ports in the back, and it didn't come with the short air duct. What I did for the UBS ports was buy an automotive-grade USB charger (pat...

Any possibility to DIY full coolant drain+fill?

OP, I have got a leak in the 4-way valve and decided to take the opportunity to flush the coolant. I have been playing around with the valve on the bench and I think that I have a plan. Ordered some parts (electrical plugs for the valves, pins, wires, and adaptor for pressurizing reservoir...

Chargeport lights up blueish-pinkish instead of white....sign of impending failure?

These LEDs worked. But my soldering probably wasn’t good as the blue line was red.

Chargeport lights up blueish-pinkish instead of white....sign of impending failure?

Good news, I think that I found the LEDs (see attached. They look identical to the OEM under a microscope.

Chargeport lights up blueish-pinkish instead of white....sign of impending failure?

I haven’t been able to find the specs of the LEDs. I will try to repair the broken ones by adding solder to establish connections with the board. I have two bad ones, each has one leg corroded (the middle leg in the bottom row).

Any possibility to DIY full coolant drain+fill?

Ha, sorry just saw your PM. I have two MSes, and so I tested things by swapping the parts. For the coolant change, I am thinking of draining the coolant at the coolant heater and then fill with a vacuum fill kit. Was hoping that someone had hacked the bleeding sequence by activating the pumps...

Long shot, but does anyone know the specs of these surface-mount LEDs? This a charge port light strip from a 2014 P85.

    Price Check - 2013 p85+ w/ full Clear-Bra

Your AC drain might have been retrofitted by Tesla at some point or it might have came with the new hose from the factory. My 2014 p85+ has the new extended hose. You can easily check by removing the frunk tub.

Another thing is MCU2 upgrade. And check the pano roof for operation and potential leaks.

    Price Check - 2013 p85+ w/ full Clear-Bra

Oh, and on supercharging. I don’t supercharge often, but recently my 2014 P85+ peaked at 132kw, which I was very happy with. You might want to check or ask the charging rate before buying.

    Price Check - 2013 p85+ w/ full Clear-Bra

If there are no problems, you will probably enjoy the car. I have a 2014 P85+ and love it (also currently have a 2021 Model Y LR and 2015 70D). Based on the range you quoted, the battery has likely been changed. The motor probably has been changed too (mine has been changed for coolant leak)...

Another vote for Ohmmu. What i like most is the weight. Had it for 2 years no problems yet.

Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

I don’t know. I am the second owner. It had 40k miles when I bought it. It did have the steering rack motor bolts replaced and cold climate 12v posts retrofitted. So possible that the hose was also refitted post delivery. But not sure.

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Yeah, I would first get the 12v charged up or put in a new battery. If codes come back, likely a shorted HV loop somewhere (AC and heater would be likely suspects).

Vendor Preventative Maintenance regarding Battery Failures in early Model S vehicles (2012-2014)

I thought about it before closing it back up. I didn’t see any sign of water damage near the drip area, so felt that it wasn’t a problem needed fixing. But will check it periodically now on.

Checked my 2014 P85+ and relieved to see the drain hose is extended over the penthouse.

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

I would do what others have suggested and charge up the 12V first. After that, you might get error codes that would help point to why the HV loop is not closing.

I had a similar issue. Fixed by replacing the driver side door control module (a black plastic box in the driver door). Very easy to do.

I popped the hubcap covers and torqued the nuts to 180ftlb but didn’t fix the clunk. Would removing the nuts, clean, and lubing the hubs/spines help in this case?

Keeping my Model S as she ages

My 2014 S’s battery has been replaced and MCU2 upgrade. It still has door handle issues (but I have a handful of Tesla harnesses stocked up and been doing the repair myself). I have been very happy with it.
