    Hows your adaptive high beam?

Drove in pitch black last night on full beam. I was passed by about seven or eight vehicles coming the other way and watched the matrix pixels turn off and then wipe back to normal. No one flashed me and the ability to drive with full beam is a real advantage. Does exactly what it says on the...

    What’s your job?

After a career in corporate business, I spent my last working years as a consultant asset manager for a venture capital business or legalised crime syndicate - depended on whether you were a donor or recipient of money from them. Tiring of such futility, I retired to the west of France with my...

    Help Please

Here in France, a blood test is given every year. The point is not to see the 'actual' result, it's to monitor the trend. Over the last 10 years, mine has gone up and down between 0.99 and 1.10 Doc tells me that if over the period of 12 months, it rises by more than 1 then more checking is done.

Daft Times anti-EV article of the day

Today's Times. Behind a paywall so I quote: Sathnam Sanghera Monday January 08 2024, "I gave up car journalism a few years ago but got a reminder of what it sometimes involved with the loan of a Bentley Flying Spur over Christmas. It was incredible: bigger than a caravan but somehow as...

    [UK] 2023.38

According to the article copied below, there are four levels of warning that manufacturers can choose from - and all can be overridden. The 'lightest level' just shows the speed limit in the car - which my M3 has done since I bought it. Anyway, I have 2023.38 installed, live in France and, as...

Luton Airport Car Park 2 Fire

I guarantee...in fact I will put money on it, that before the day is through, the Luddites will be saying that the fire service are putting forward government propaganda and it was in fact an EV that started the fire...OR...there were EV's in the car park that 'made it worse'.

Which Screen Protector? Do I need one?

Sounds, like me, you don't wear rings or bangles or bracelets...or have long nails. Apparently, some people do. They tend to leave their mark on the screen and around door handles. I have a matte Spigen, as I did on my first M3. I haven't noticed any clarity or sensitivity issues.

The Crit'air vignette is designed to be read by cameras which will be mounted in the affected cities. They are not there yet and not expected until late 2023 in Paris and at least the second quarter of 2024 in other cities affected. If you have actually applied for the vignette and drive an...

Europe Trip Planner - Gathering your thoughts on essentials

These days, the main daily users of the peage are business travellers and trucks - who do tend to have badges. I know you mean 'locals' in a different sense but unlike the UK, there are so many other quick options for town-to-town travel, actual locals just don't use the peage to get around...

    White Interior Thoughts?

I think your post is highly insightful. It has prompted me to consider the subject in greater detail. I haven't worn anything except jeans in my two Model 3's. Questionable daily fashion I accept (hey, I'm retired and live in France - who gives a damn?) but there isn't even a hint of blue on my seats. However, like a well known Duke, maybe I don't sweat...

I've passed the daily messy kids stage so can't comment on that but it's now eight months since I picked-up my 3 with white interior. Apart from normal vacuuming, I've never cleaned the seats. They all look pretty much like they did on day one to me.

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

It may very well be as the RAC site suggests - I only have two because the property we purchased in Spain, bizarrely, had three left in the garage. Anyway, be a change leader...buy a triangle/help-flash package which is now all the rage in Spain :)

    Question for Solar Charging Guru's

The whole house is single phase - in a French sort of way. Our original cadastre is dated 1730 with numbered plots and even then, old buildings all over the place. I'm convinced that the plot of the field next to us, in which vines grow, actually extends about halfway into our kitchen where...

    Question for Solar Charging Guru's

Thank you so much for all your responses. The reason why we wouldn't route to the house is that the garage block is quite a distance from the main house and the whole plot is, as you would expect from a 300+ year old property, haphazard :) It's really only the garage block that lends itself to...

    Question for Solar Charging Guru's

Thank you all for your responses. In France, solar power has turned into the replacement windows/conservatory pressure selling that the UK suffered from in the '90's. We live most of the year in the SW of France. I have a Model 3P and we are about to buy a YLR. Tesla readies revamped Model 3

I genuinely don't understand the apparent requirement for 500/600 mile range batteries. During the week, my home charger deals with 50-150 mile trips and on my quarterly long distance runs from Bordeaux to South Spain, the Tesla network just deals effortlessly with the whole trip. It might (I...

    Lots of little niggles...

I've been driving M3's for over 3 years now and the capability of my current M3P seems to be worse than my first car. If autopilot was designed to take the driving effort away, it's not working. It's slow to activate in overtaking, slow during overtaking some vehicles and slow to return to lane...

Which Screen Protector? Do I need one?

I have the Spigen too - I also had one on my last M3. From a visibility viewpoint, I don't really think about it which, presumably, means it's doing its job. Autowipers are actually dangerous
