There may be trouble ahead... new AP and FSD limitations

"They also establish a speed limit of 60 kilometres (37 miles) per hour." So that suggests that using ALKS on motorway standard dual carriageways is going to be almost impossible. Or have I miss read these articles?

    Octopus smart meter installation

I have an email from Octopus Energy last week, no smart meter installations for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19. :(

    UK Gigafactory Inbound?

I can foresee him saying that it offered cash to Tesla. However, I can also foresee him blaming Tesla for the deal falling through, when it was never a serious, credible proposition in the first place.

    UK Gigafactory Inbound?

While I accept that the UK may be trying to tempt Tesla, I seriously doubt whether Tesla will be tempted by the UK. Given the strong likelyhood of a no-deal Brexit and the on-going damage to the UK economy that would cause, the proximity of a Gigafactory elsewhere in Europe and the need to...

    FSD or not FSD

I didn't buy FSD, I have no interest in buying FSD, in the future - even if it can be made to work in a RHD environment like the UK. I sometimes entertain my friends with a demonstration of Autopilot, but that's all. As a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and holder of a RoSPA Gold...

    UK Newbie Questions

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have now taken the plunge with my model 3 and I'm loving it (see my avatar photo :-) ). I suspect that the AWD option is going to even out the tyre wear, so I won't have to do anything like rotating the tyres. I've just had solar panels fitted to my roof and a...

UK Model 3 and Dog Owners

We have a 25kg boxer who regularly travelled in the boot of my previous hatchback. I got a rear seat cover from EVAnnex and also a seatbelt adapter to keep the dog in place. The cover fits very well and protects the rear seats nicely. The best bit is that it folds up easily and stows in the...

Thank heavens for the weekly shop..!

I agree with the OP! My weekly shopping trip is assuming a much more prominent role in the enjoyment of my car. I've even considered buying a rear seat cover so I can chauffeur my dog down to the local park for her daily walk :D

What do you enjoy most about driving your Tesla?

My pre-purchase research had already prepared my expectations.:) I've already noticed that the warmer weather is improving my Watts per mile.

What do you enjoy most about driving your Tesla?

I'd have to agree with all the other comments about instant acceleration, smoothness, head-turning ability. But I'd add the ability to do a short journey as cheaply and efficently as a long journey. My old ICE car returned very poor milage when I just drove it down to the shops. Somthing the...

    New Owner Questions

That is wierd. I can unlock the car with my fob and also open the charge port. I then just plug the cable from my EO Mini into the car, wait a few seconds and away it goes. Sorry, I can't be any more helpful.

    Ceramic Coating Advice

Just got my Long Range back from CPP. Had it done over the Easter Weekend. Cost me about the same, but I had the glass, wheels and interior done too (the guy talked me into it :) ). I also had the hydrophobic coating put on too. He used Gtechniq. Thus far, it looks fabulous! Even better...

    Does anyone wave anymore?

In Harlow, I had a MSM model 3 flash lights at me last week and I waved back, mainly because I couldn't remember how to flash the lights in my new car. :D

    v2020.8 rolling

I got 2020.8.3 last night after 2020.8.2 was installed a couple of days ago. Looks like the QA on 8.2 wasn't as good as it should have been and an emergency bug fix was needed. ;-)

Leaking roof!? Serious concerns about Tesla waterproofing...

Picked up my M3 Long Range a couple of weeks ago now. Sorry to disapoint you, but it is 100% leak free. In fact it's 100% issue free!

Can I Wax Aero Wheel Covers?

Personally, I took my Aero wheel covers off and am now enjoying the Alloy wheels underneath. However, I can't see how the wax polish could harm the covers. With regard to the Chrome strips I use Solvol Autosol (sp) on mine. Again, if they are clean and shiny, then I don't think the wax will...

    M3 Key Fob Pros/Cons

I bought a fob, right after I got a delivery date for my car. It came very quickly - a couple of days delivery. I also got a rubberised fob cover from Abstract Ocean, so I can hook it to my key ring. This is where I kept the key for my previous car. After I watched a YouTube video on how to...

Newbie Question - Unplugging CCS @ Superchargers

I don't think you've been unlucky. They are, generally, a bit difficult to unhook.

Anyone NOT had any issues with their Model 3?

Picked up my car from the Westfield Centre in West London a week ago. The front number plate was loose. A technician fixed it while I was having my hand-over, so no disruption to me. Interestingly, he then went around all the other cars awaiting delivery and checked them also - impressive...

Newbie Question - Sentry mode and Dashcam

Thanks all for your help. My ugly mug now apprears on the Sentry mode files :) The trick seems to be using RMPrepUSB to format my SSD, rather than Guiformat.

Newbie Question - Sentry mode and Dashcam

Thanks for your prompt reply, but nope, no change. I reformatted the drive as exFAT, created the TeslaCam folder again and plugged it in. Then I locked the car, switched on Sentry mode and walked around the car. The indicators flashed and the HAL "eye" came up on the screen, but nothing was...

Newbie Question - Sentry mode and Dashcam

Help! I've read the forum and watched some videos but, thusfar, I can't get Sentry mode or Dashcam to work. I've got a 500Gb Samsung T5 portable SSD which I was using for file transfers, etc. It works fine! Initially, I found that I could only re-format this drive as NTFS. I did a search on...

Is my wheel arch paint normal?

Mud flaps seen like a good idea. Which ones would people recommend? I'd prefer not to have drill holes in my bodywork.

    Collection Day Filth

Sorry to hear your experience. I picked mine up from the Westfield Centre in West London and I have to say that the experience was pretty near perfect. The cars were well spaced apart (see my avatar photo) and spotlessly clean, inside and out. I had a loose front number plate bracket and, I...

    A whirlwind Romance?

To quote the song; "It must be love, love, love..." Just got back from collecting my car. The train/tube journey across London was quiet, but otherwise uneventful. We arrived at the Tesla showroom at the Westfield Centre about an hour and a half early. This was my first visit and I totally...

    A whirlwind Romance?

Today's the day! My Tesla Model 3 Long Range is ready for collection today, from the Westfield Centre is West London. Excited, is not the word! And it's all happened so quick! I seriously thought about replacing my gas guzzler with an EV for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm retiring at...

Took a test drive of the Hyundai Kona Electric

I considered the Hyundi Kona. I liked the fact that the dealer just said, "Take it out for a few hours and get the feel of it." It's a nice little car, but very "Korean". For example, it plays a little tune when you switch it off and the dash board display is horribly cluttered. But the real...

    UK Newbie Questions

Hi, This is my first post here, please be gentle... I am seriously contemplating buying a Model 3 Long Range, but I have a couple of questions. 1. What's the typical tyre life? Do owners routinely rotate their wheels? (I've never bothered to do this in 45 years of driving, but I've never...
