    15A outlet installation in Australia

Yes normally a dedicated circuit is used for such things. Same with an oven or air conditioner. How far is the run from the switchbox? That's the main cost factor.

No that's not correct. Any tyre that meets the specs can be used. I'd look at the Michelin PS4S

Anyone repeated ceramic coating after a few years?

Apparently the rent was crazy in Alexandria. They've moved to Arncliffe, and now called ZenAuto. Same guys, excellent operation. Had the new Highland Model 3 done there recently with full paint correction, ceramic coating, and a little bit of PPF (just on the door edges only).

    Wiper streaking/smearing on windshield

Looks like some oil has been kicked up off the road. Squeegee, soapy water should sort it out. Clean your blades with a soapy rag too.

    TPMS Lifespan MIC M3 SR+ Nov 2021

Quite a bit cheaper on eBay, around $60AUD That might be an option for the OP, then just get the local tyre bloke to fit them. There's nothing special involved, no "programming" etc. You just replace them, and the car will detect the new sensors in about 30 minutes of driving.

    TPMS Lifespan MIC M3 SR+ Nov 2021

It's battery life, but from reading your post, I think you've formed the view that it's just simple calendar aging, independent of car usage, which is not correct. The sensors dont transmit when the car isn't in use. The more the car is in use, the shorter the battery life. "When Do TPMS...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I figured it had something to do with the car's USB ports. Wasn't sure if the reference was for power, dashcam recording or audio etc. So saying "switch to USB" is enough for the car to assume you want to play MP3's off the USB stick?

    Phantom Braking / Slowdowns

Tend to agree. Two quite different things. 1 The car gently wiping off 10kph because it thinks something sketchy is ahead vs 2 Full balls-out emergency braking. I have had this while passing a cyclist in the next lane about 2 metres away. And another time when a pedestrian ran across the...

    TPMS Lifespan MIC M3 SR+ Nov 2021

Not sure it’s odd. TPMS sensors are a consumable with a finite life, and nearly every car will need fresh set at some point. The batteries are not designed to be replaceable, as they are heavily encased against the tough environment inside a tyre. They are subject to heat, cold, moisture...

    Phantom Braking / Slowdowns

On the menu: Controls > Autopilot > Set Speed and choose either Speed Limit or Current Speed. I use the "Current Speed" setting for TACC rather than "Speed Limit" and never see these issues.

Agree. Set of 4 on EBay is about that price. Or $360 from local vendor. https://braumach.com.au/products/tesla-model-3-y-tpms-tyre-pressure-sensors-x-4-bluetooth-only I bought a set of 4 of the older non Bluetooth version from Tesla spare parts a couple of years back for about $200 when I...

    New Model 3 Performance news

I'd figure on 30k kms per set. The new model might get a bit less than the old one, because it's a staggered setup, so you can't do full wheel rotations, only left to right. Any track days in your plans?

Supercharger - Benalla, Vic (Withdrawn June 2024)

Would be good to see some federal legislation that removes local council red tape from EV Charging infrastructure rollouts. This was done with the NBN, which would otherwise have been mired in council interference.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

There's a couple of ways to set the speed when using TACC. -Speed Limit -Current Speed Try the "Current Speed" selection. This works a bit like a traditional cruise control, in that you accelerate to your desired cruising speed, then tap to engage TACC. You can also use the thumbwheel to...

Much of a muchness either way with the LFP. If it were an NMC, yes it would be best to schedule it to reach 100% shortly before departure.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

An 82kwh LFP battery would weigh a bomb wouldn’t it? We don’t really see many cars running LFP batteries of that capacity due to weight and size constraints. What’s the source of this story?

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

This one has me curious - it's not a complaint I've seen before! Was the issue that the random plate resembled an offensive/swear word? Or was it a superstition thing around a certain combination of numbers and letters? I think NSW RMS has some sort of system to detect sequences on number...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

No issue at all. In fact with the RWD that's actually good. Charging to 100% once or twice a week allows the car to better track the voltage in an LFP battery.

Reversing issues in new MYP = accident

Honestly, there's no substitute for keeping a proper lookout when reversing. The side mirrors are good. And the reversing camera is excellent. Large, clear and wide-angled, and most importantly, it pops up almost instantaneously. The reverse camera in my VW could take 6-7 seconds to display...

I was approaching the Canberra maccas Superchargers a few months ago, enroute back to Sydney from Jindabyne. All looking good about 15 minutes out, the car was showing I think 3 stalls free at Canberra. Then about 5 mins out, it suddenly said all chargers offline! I turned up at the chargers...
