Crackling Sound on 2023 Model X Plaid

Try cleaning off your brakes - a $6 can of brake cleaner may do the trick especially after winter. I would hear more of a crunching noise when using my brakes due to all of the grime/salt build up. After using can of brake cleaner, noise went away.

Great aftermarket seat back that works with refreshed X

When I get some time, I dismantle my seat back again on my 2023 X Plaid picked up in early September and take photos. If I recall, there are no mounting holes. The included main brackets basically screw into the other included smaller tabs that clamp onto the metal seat frame.

    Add Grab Handles?

I’ve used these from Amazon- the fit into the door latch on the b pillar. Works on the rear doors of a 3/Y but not in the X. You do have to remember to take them out before shutting the door. Provides an extra grab point. .

    Undecided...

I decided to go with a Plaid with 20 inch wheels as a good compromise for range, performance, and comfort. We definitely wanted the 6 seats and at the time (early Sept) the price difference was ~$3500 for extra motor. No regrets. We don’t launch it around town but the acceleration merging into...

    Model X 6 Seater : Camping

Also anyone they retrofitting a center seat into a plaid for temporary extra seating? I’ve seen the slim middle seat from old model x available from ebay. We have family visit from time to time and squeezing into our 7 seater Y takes gymnastics and there’s only 6 seats in our 2023 X Plaid and...

Great aftermarket seat back that works with refreshed X

there are brackets that should have come with the seatback that you use the bolts to mount to basically sandwiching the seat frame. There should have been an instruction sheet that came in the box. If you go back to the Amazon product page, there’s also an installation video and they...

    Light Show Model X issues!

2023 X Plaid picked up in early September and it’s now having this issue after the last update. Worked fine when we first got the car but now it just starts the light show but then stops a couple seconds later- screen goes blank and side mirrors fold in but windows stay rolled down. If I try to...

    Door wind noise MX 2023

Try some vinyl conditioner on all of the existing seals or believe the make a specific seal conditioner- if they’re dry or dirty or a little out of place they won’t seal as well and you’ll hear wind noise.

    Round steering wheel

We opted for a steering wheel for our new X plaid since our other car is a Y and having consistency helps. Test drove a X with a yoke and while the view is cleaner, found myself reaching for parts that weren’t there. I’ve positioned the steering wheel where it doesn’t block anything. Like one...

Great aftermarket seat back that works with refreshed X

The bottom of the seat is unaffected and the tray portion is higher up so would say minimal to no impact to leg room. We previously had a 3rd party seat back that hangs from the head rest and had a small tray but that took more space than this built into the seat back.

    Auto-tilt mirrors disabled

Agree - not a fan of the tilting mirrors since the cameras are what guides me when parking. I use the mirrors more to see if a car is coming up after I parked and am getting out.

The blind spot monitor is more than just the camera view - if you signal, the visualization should also show if there’s a car there and will be highlighted in red and warn you. You can also move the camera view around the main screen into a couple of different positions. You can also set...

Great aftermarket seat back that works with refreshed X

Easy to install - 1) push up the bottom corner of the front headrest to get a screw driver in to push retaining clip - do this for each side of each front headrest - 2) pull out headrest 3) push down while pulling hard the back original seat back (and I mean really hard) and remove the seat...

Will I Regret a LR X Given Known Issue?

Even standard Autopilot is great - moved across the country and drove our Y with our 2 dogs while my wife and daughter flew and visited friends and family. Didn’t have fsd on the Y at the time. It drove 99% of the time on the highway. Went 5~10mph above speed limit and all I had to do is take...

Will I Regret a LR X Given Known Issue?

I just got my X Plaid with 20 inch wheels in. Staring from the back, the camber is pretty noticeable even on low. Macsboost sells a shim kit - planning on installing it myself this week. It’s just 2 plates - one on each side and seems expensive for what it is ($~262) albeit marine stainless...

That looks like the X plaid we picked up on 9/4. Got FSD transferred Got the blue with...

Long time Tesla owner with a few questions about the New Model X

We have a Y and just traded our 3 for a X Plaid with a steering wheel and 20 inch wheels. Took advantage of the free FSD transfer this quarter. I didn’t like the yoke so went with the steering wheel. Still trying to get used to the turn signals since my wife and I alternate cars depending on...

Opinion needed Model X trade in for 2 cars Model Y and Model 3

You’ll likely miss the space. We now have a Y and a refreshed X plaid (traded in a 3). The size difference is noticeable. The frunk and sub trunk are quite smaller in the Y. We also have 2 dogs and while they can fit behind the 2nd row, since the roofline slopes a lot sooner in the Y, our...

    Model Y to Model X?

We now have a Y and a X plaid (traded up from a 3 b/c of fsd transfer). Hands down the X is better for me and the wife. The FWD is awesome if you have a young kid in a car seat that you have to buckle in. We used to bump her head all the time in the 3 - a little easier in the Y since it’s...

Just got a refreshed Model X, what are some must have accessories nowadays?

This has been my favorite - seat backs with a tray table and built in wireless charging - made for a 3/Y but works with the refreshed X - the faux carbon matches the trim in the plaid.

Child Safety Issue with Falcon Wing Doors

If it’s the 6 seater, you could try moving the seat to its furthest position back - may be just far enough away from the buttons. One other option is try a different car seat. We used to love our Nuna Rava but it’s bulky and when the Y was our primary people mover we got a diono when we had...

My dogs know how to roll down the windows so it was a constant struggle driving around town and on the highway in the front seat. I found a 3D print plan online for a part for tesla that block the button from being pressed that works well. Until recently dog mode would still allow the front...

    MS or MX plaid

We had a 3 and a Y and took advantage of the fsd transfer to a X Plaid. If you’re thinking about a X with 6 seats, the difference in price to getting a X plaid is minimal. I opted for the 20 inch rims to keep as much range and a steering wheel since the yoke was too jarring of a change and...

    Model X 2022 vibration over 75-80 mph

Got a plaid last week and pick up was 2hrs away. On the drive home at 75~80mph, felt a slight vibration in the steering wheel and could see the front passenger seat vibrate. Removing front passenger seat back in a 2023 X plaid

Anyone with a 2023 X ever remove the front seat backs? Saw a video from RPM showing an older version just pop off after you remove the pin and take off the headrest. I just picked up a X Plaid and even though not a huge fan of the front doors not fully opening the falcon wing doors are awesome - makes loading the kiddo so much easier than our previous 3 or Y. Love the amount of room. No issues with fit and finish at delivery. Only issue was slight...

Upgrade to X from Y for young family?

We had a 3 and a 7 seater Y but just traded the 3 for a X plaid. While the Y 7 seater is useful it’s like gymnastics getting into the third row. The X plaid only comes in 6 seats and ingress/egress is so easy. You don’t even have to move the middle seats up, just climp in and go in between...

Need opinion from those who upgraded to refresh model

I traded in my 2019 3 with fsd transfer to a 2023 X Plaid with steering wheel and 20 inch wheels. Power/acceleration is ridiculous esp merging onto the highways. One thing that takes getting used to is the turn signals now that it is on the wheel (shifting is intuitive on the screen). I took...

    Model Y to Model X?

We had a 3 and a 7 seater Y. While the 3rd row in the Y definitely comes in handy when we have visitors so that we can take 1 car, it’s like gymnastics going back there. Since fsd transfer was a perk, we jus traded in our 3 for an X plaid. The captains chair middle row makes all the...
