Actually you are wrong..the car only becomes a used car if you have taken Delivery of the car. Many new cars are driven off the lot on test drives and most dealers allow that. Tesla does now provide test drives for the Model Y. I do not see why wanting to test drive a car your are paying...

No they usually tell you will receive a new vin for another car in 7 -10 days. I received a new one after rejecting a car 3 days after and delivery day right after they assigned me a new vin

No most of the paint was pretty good, a few paint nibs, couple of scratches in the door frames and small nick on the front fender, I might have taken the car if there had not been so many other issues.
