    Amazon Alexa Skill

Not sure on timing with the watch app thing but using the shortcuts app I made it takes about 10 seconds for me from voice to trunk opening unless the car is asleep at home, then it’s more like 20-30 seconds.

    Amazon Alexa Skill

The tokens expire after a short while. I use IOS shortcuts and I check how long since the last token was refreshed and if it’s more than 8 hours I refresh the token in the shortcut before running it.

Curb rash and chunk missing from tire sidewall. Does this need repair?

Dont see any chord exposed, I wouldnt worry about it. Just looks like the decorative outer is damaged.

Waking up to less than the set charge.

What he is trying to say is you didn’t lose 4% charge, your car finished charging at xx volts per cell, settled to a certain open circuit voltage and your bms recalibrated itself based on the the values it was seeing. You still had the same amount of available capacity as when the charger kicked...

Water sloshing sound. 2022 Model Y

Water built up/running out between the hatch glass and the body. Wash the car, you will hear it right away and it stops after a few stop, starts

How to get Trunk Open to display after "P" park?

Happens randomly all the time to me as well since the last update. It isn’t normal. Will magically fix itself one day. Reset hasn’t worked for me.

60k miles, heat pump failure 2020 MYP - Tesla wants $4500

I dont get why everyone thinks that and I hear similar stuff all the time. If the alternator on your ice car dies , can you drive it? No, but it doesn’t mean the alternator is part of power train warranty, even though it’s attached to the power train. I’m pretty sure the battery warranty even...

Range on the Coquihalla when towing.

I can’t see hope to merrit being an issue at all. I drive Coquitlam to Kamloops no problem with 10% battery left. You can tuck in behind a truck and get some relief from the air drag if you want.

6-50 plug and it will be a selling point if the new owner is a welder.

interior cabin temp rising while car is off

Actually had the same experience. Went to dinner at my uncles and had some meat in the car. It was -3c outside so I left the windows open for 20 minutes to cool the car when we went inside. I checked the cabin temp about 30 minutes later and it was about +4 c. Another 30 minutes and I check...

Tesla Model Y Rear Door Paint Damage

I just got an email from Tesla with a code for free mudflaps and the door PPF and some squeegee. 2 weeks after I got the car (June 2020) it was already getting ruined and I put the ppf on myself.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Tried Off-road assist and slip start. If I’m on a flat sort of slippery road I can mash it with Off-road assist on and get some wheel spin as long as there is enough traction to accelerate. Extremely low or poor traction, ie uphill in deep snow, the car will just cut back the power and stop and...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

It absolutely does not allow you to power through anything. Winter tires are definitely key for this car. My ford edge awd I can get by fine with all seasons and dropping the hammer when I need some wheel spin to power up something slippery or get some throttle induced directional control. The...

MYP w/19” Geminis in the snow

What I think the car needs is the ability to lock awd at a 50/50 bias and then get rid of the traction control stuff for real when you put slip start on. Slip start or off-road assist maybe allow a tiny improvement but not enough. If you are climbing a slippery hill and the tires are spinning...

MYP w/19” Geminis in the snow

It gets by ok but is by far the worst car I’ve ever owned for the snow. First time in my life I’ve felt like I need snow tires on a vehicle.
  16. E

    Tesla rescues a snow-stranded BMW

To be honest, my LR AWD MY is the worst vehicle I have ever had for snow. I will need to buy snow tires for the first time in my life. What it needs is the option to disable the traction control completely. Slip start and off road assist both claim to do it but they don’t. Heading to my house is...

My Model Y won’t charge at supercharger

Sounds like you have an Issue with DC charging. Just go to J1772 “charger” and use the little adapter that came with the car or find a destination charger. Then you are using the charger on board the car to actually charge the battery.
  18. E

    Plug in reminder?

Siri shortcut that runs automatically at whatever time you want, wakes the car up, checks the state of charge and if it is plugged in and an if statement to tell you the car is below 50 % and not plugged in will trigger a notification. If you are an android guy there is something similar but...

    Frozen door handles

Push the front of the handle inwards (moves like 1 mm) broke mine free this morning then I opened normally.
  20. E

Clicking from accelerator in traffic and autopilot

Sounds like you are trying to hit the accelerator pedal while the car wants to be stopped. It’s normal.

mark a favourite location without an address

You just touch the screen to add a pin then save it as a favourite.
  22. E

    Over charging problems

That’s not actually a hard reboot. Hard reboot is disconnecting the 12v battery and unplugging the HV pack under the seat. The brake pedal thing is just something made up by the internet.

Help me decide: Model Y or Mach-E

Works a lot better than Siri and you don’t need specific phrases either, just speak clearly and say what you want to happen. Two flaws are chatty passengers mess it up and if you are on the phone it won’t work.

Help me decide: Model Y or Mach-E

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but there is absolutely nothing you need to remove your hands from the steering wheel or eyes from the road to control. I see all these comments and complaints about no physical buttons and how you have to look at a screen for wipers etc in different forums (...

    Model Y steep driveway

My inlaws have the steepest driveway imaginable. Steep enough that if I drive downhill on their road and turn up onto their driveway, the left rear wheel comes off the ground. Nothing scrapes though. The car does throw a warning on the screen saying it may not hold on the hill but whatever, it’s...

Autosteer maximum speed and automatic speed adjustment

The automatic speed adjust up or down based on the speed limit signs is kind of random. Only works in some places. Some people will say it doesn’t speed up, only goes down but it actually does adjust up and down.

    Charger damaged by raccoon

Smear it with black RTV silicone, let it dry, done.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Take your foot off the accelerator gradually to slow down gradually. Worked for me in the winter. Didn’t really have any issues.

    Garage Door Opener?

Tailwind says not for gates if I remember right but it can be done if you are creative enough. It will do up to 3 doors. Tailwind still makes the beep when closing but not as long as the my q and no flashing light. To use hey Siri with the tailwind app, open the shortcut app on your iPhone ...

    MyTesla Alexa Skill?

There is a wake up command. Not sure how Alexa skill works but in iOS shortcuts https://owner-api.teslamotors.com/api/1/vehicles/vehicle_id/wake_up Do it as a loop to check for the car status and if it is online, leave the loop and go to the command
  31. E

    Garage Door Opener?

Plus one for the tailwind. I had the MYQ but the API changed and the hey Siri broke. It’s very hard for the average person to setup in Siri Shortcuts. The tailwind on the other hand is as brainless as it can be to use hey siri. It’s way more responsive and reliable than myQ and it’s nice that if...

Daily switching from non Tesla to your Tesla?

Uneventful. 5 seconds to get used to driving a different car.
  33. E

    MyTesla Alexa Skill?

There is an API call to wake the car up first, then you check if it is awake and run your command instead of having to say a command twice. I use IOS shortcuts, not Alexa but I assume it’s similar. I use voice commands to open and close the trunk which is easier than using the app when your...

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

Anyone have any luck with TEsla on this? I pretty much got told to bad, your fault.
  35. E

Are rear mud flaps really necessary?

Not necessary but keeps the rooster tails off the back of the car after driving in the rain.
  36. E

    2-button reset not working

Hard reboot is disconnecting the 12v battery then disconnecting the connector under the seat for the main battery pack for a few minutes. Brake pedal thing was something the Internet made up.
  37. E

Anyone else having to reprogram their side mirrors constantly?

Apparently they calibrate like the Windows do. Center the mirror then in any order you want, go full up and hold it for a few seconds, then full down and hold it, back to center and do it again full left and full right. Do that for both mirrors. Worked for me.

Ugh. 36 minutes to charge 110mi at a Supercharger (1.5 hours including drive of 24 miles roundtrip)

I would disagree with these two paragraphs . Thinking like an ice car, your fuel gauge shows a level and you get used to how far you can go certain places until empty. It’s the same with battery percent, you get used to how far you can go on xx% battery. It seems more logical than using an...

    Side cameras stop workimg

Happened to my parents in their 3 when they updated. I had to do a hard reset (disconnect 12v battery and pull the contactor connector from under the seat for a minute, make sure you have all the doors open). After that you will get a firmware version error so then make a service appointment...

Would the Model Y Fishtail with the acceleration?

You have zero chance of accomplishing any throttle induced oversteer. The 2wd model 3 I can get to break loose around a corner in the rain if I stomp on it just right or even in the snow but the car wont let you have that much fun. The AWD Y, in the snow I can get a sensation of the backend...

    rear door paint damage?

I have damage almost half way up the door. Obviously it’s worse at the bottom but if I were to do it again I would do the full rear door ppf. It’s not like I can blame the crappy Tesla paint either because the worst door is the one I had painted because of a huge fish eye bubble. The lower...

Is single peice casting a good or bad thing?

This is actually not true, at least not here in Canada and I suspect it wouldn't be true in most of the USA as well. Frame damage is absolutely not a death sentence for a car as long as the value of the car is high enough. Here the write off threshold is like 70% of the value of the vehicle. If...

MY White Paint thick enough for Harbor Freight buffer?

Polisher and cutting compound would be a desperate last resort. I would try maybe a clay bar and everything else possible first.

    Supercharger cable stuck

Try to use the app to set the charge limit to less than what you have now and hit start charge? Maybe if it sees you are “done” it will let go
  45. E

    Charging time while using infotainment

Insignificant if you are at a supercharger. Slightly more if you are charging at home. Still not worth caring about. You are losing seconds

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

Reply back here with what they say. I feel like that lower trim should have a little half round wing that runs the full length of it at the top and sticks out an inch or so to try and deflect the road debris away from the paint.
  47. E

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

My car is exactly the same. Mud flaps don’t seem to help, the plastic trim isn’t faded it is more sandblasted. The PPF on my rear doors are pulverized and I am regretting only doing the lowers. I should have done the whole door as the chips go basically all the way up.

    Drive.State.Power Codes (1,11,21,4,-9)?

Not sure what the thumbs down was about on you there but I think you are looking in the the wrong forum section. The average person here wont understand any of that (maybe thats why the thumbs down, someone that doesn't understand). There is another forum section I have seen somewhere here that...

What does this speed number mean?

What is your speed limit mode speed set to? It looks a bit different now but I think it’s the same thing I had. At 80 kph I kept getting this warning and it was because I had set the speed limiter to that. I didn’t have the speed limiter on, just set to 80 and it would warn me whenever I hit...
