Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

I'd like to thank everybody's help in saving me $500 today. I had mobile service coming out tomorrow to replace this harness. Thought I'd swing by here and see if anybody had a solution. And sure enough! I just cancelled that appointment. So here are my pictures. I guess that anodized...

    Frunk Reinforcement Part Failure

Here's my solution from 1/2" PVC pipe. Cut to 55 mm, glued in place. Needs a slot cut at the back to clear the angled brace.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Oooh. Great point. I’d never really looked at the app’s charge stats since it was introduced (I have an actual utility-grade meter on my wall connector). Every bit of my home charging (71% of all charging) is labeled home. So geo-location does’t seem to be the issue.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

The little arrow on the map in the app is always in the exact location of the car. Including at home. But yeah, it sure seems like it doesn’t realize the car is at the last place it charged. Even though it hasn’t moved

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Just tested after writing that. I seem to have about 15 minutes before it resets ot 48A again.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Great to hear it is working. Thanks for the confirmation. Still trying to figure out what is unique about my situation. I can stop charging, then start again and the setting sticks. But after a certain amount of time (at least an hour it appears) it resets to 48.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Certainly a power cycle of the HPWC was unsuccessful. I have the latest version of the app now. Still the same thing happened last night. I did open a service request, and I was told mobile service could not do this and that I must bring it in. And my estimate was $225 to look at it. Totally not...

Thanks. The car has been hard reset twice and soft rebooted twice since this begin happening.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

And for those keeping score at home, a power cycle of the wall connector has accomplished nothing. I can easily charge at reduced amperage. I just can't seem to make it stick these days.

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Ha! OK, fair enough. We all have our pet 1st world problems. And today, this is mine, dang it! Oh wait. I can get out of part of this. I only noticed this with my scheduled charging because it was done so quickly. Fact of the matter is, every time I return home and plug in, even if I start...

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Ha! Mine is set to 32/48. And if I plug in and charge immediately, it charges at 32. If I let it sit until the delayed time, it charges at 48/48. I'm sure you've tried to click the + button on the right side of the 32 to increase it while charging? It says 32/48 while charging? You are not...

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Thanks for the understanding, and the empathy! I just checked the location of the car at my Wife's work. And at least at that location it is precise down to the very parking space. I'll check that when it arrives home as well. Good idea. I wonder what would allow poor GPS positioning like that...

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Good thinking, but nope. This is one of those times when I've been wracking my brain to figure out what may have changed to create this. So far... I've got nothing. It MAY have happened after the last FSD update that I got. It is one of those things that happens while I'm sleeping, and didn't...

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

Thanks JJ. As I wired, installed and commissioned the HPWC, I'm familiar with the settings and how to change them. Heck, I created a circuit for this thing that's capable of 100A and always want the option to charge at 48.... as I do when in a hurry. But at the same time, I want the option to...

Model 3 not remembering charge rate that I set

I have an HPWC that was installed and commissioned (by me) for 48A. It has been working flawlessly and consistently for almost five years with my Model 3. I've been able to charge at any rate that I set... until recently. Now it seems to forget my chosen charge rate setting for this location...

“Power Reduced” warning and Turtle icon

I just got the call from my stranded wife. 2018 M3 long rang dual motor. First phone wouldn’t allow unlock. Had to use card key. Then gave title and three warnings of low power. Would barely creep. Fortunately was still in a parking lot. She got out and back in, this resolved it at least until...

    Just got software update 2022.20.19

I find this somewhat amusing if only because... I have been gainfully employed as a software beta site manager! (albeit not for a vehicle) So please be assured that *this* whiner understands "beta testing" in the least. Just not vehicle software testing. I should point out that understanding...

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

And now that I have your attention: I'm trying to find the best way to get a USB-C cord (from the Apple Magsafe puck) from the display where I have it mounted INTO the front cavity of my 2018 Model 3 console. The place where the factory USB ports are below the phone-holding pad. I've entered...

Endless search for a MagSafe phone mount is over?

A quick note to alert/warn folks that with the introduction of the iPhone 14 Pro, that a lot of the magsafe stuff on the market is not going to work. And that is because the camera pod is the largest (reaches farther down the phone than ever) and tallest (cases have a taller ridge to protect the...

    Wireless phone charger 3/Y MagSafe

Can you share how to dealt with the wire after it leaves the magsafe puck? I see you have it aimed behind the screen. Then where do you enter the dash to start hiding it? (I need to get that cord into the FRONT of the center console where I have power, not to the rear ports). I've just started...

Laminated windshields (all modern cars) do an excellent job of UV-filtering. Heat is another thing, but you shouldn't see much damage from the UV at least.

    Wireless phone charger 3/Y MagSafe

The normal charging area. That can be hidden under that front hatch (note that I have an early car before the console refresh) When my car was new (2018) everybody made a Qi charging mat. I bought one of the early ones, and it works great. Great except that it only charges at about 5W on a good...

    Wireless phone charger 3/Y MagSafe

I really appreciate you working out this great solution and sharing it, BTW. I was poking around looking for true MagSafe charging solutions (vs the stuff that's limited to 7.5W on Iphone.) And while I'm still looking for the solution that keeps the phones down below and charges at full rate, I...

    Wireless phone charger 3/Y MagSafe

I know a bit OT, but still related! Why does it seem like nobody makes a charging pad for the factory lower charging area that will accept the Apple MagSafe puck? I'd love to have full-speed MagSafe 15W charging down in that console area. But am amazed to find that this hasn't been done yet?

Air Lift for rear coils of Model 3?

I can tell you that I never did. My intent was to add a trailer hitch, but I didn't get to that yet either. So far I haven't missed having bags on the back. But if somebody confirms what ACTUALLY fits and works, that may just put me over the top and do it. I so liked having them on past cars.

    Side pillar camera fog

In fact they DO know my specific situation. Because I explained it to them in excruciating detail. The issue I'm having is quite obvious. Yet they call it "as designed" and offer no solution. Good to hear that the latest vehicles have addressed this. Is it true that none of the new vehicles...

Great information! Thanks for taking the time to share. Again I assume this also applies to the Model 3's of 2018 vintage? I've never been sure how the BMS warmed up the drivetrain components. I can certainly try this. And if it works, it begs the question: Why aren't the service centers at...

    Side pillar camera fog

Hi Mr. Canoe. Thanks for the input. I guess that I didn't mention that my car is a Model 3. But that really doesn't matter in this context. No, I do not regularly precondition. One reason is that I do not have a regular schedule for using the car. The other reason is that I have a severe...

    Side pillar camera fog

OK, I'm coming in a bit late on the thread. I have both B-pillar cameras AND the front pod on the windshield fogging up. My service center calls it nothing to worry about as long as it eventually clears up on its own. Well, except for a few details: 1. I paid thousands for FSD. And of course...

exactly. That's one of the best parts is being able to charge on today's standard. Back in the day we were trying just to change that one aspect (adding J1772 input). But that required a new charger of course so was a bit.... uh... inconvenient.

How to purchase replacement "small parts" for Model 3

I'm happy to report that my purchase arrived, and the parts are indistinguishable from the OEM versions. I snapped in the new ones, and put everything back together. Just like new! Whole bag of them for the cost of a few from Tesla. AND they actually delivered. Big win. Thanks again.

It is a good question though. Why does service think that we can create an account and order from that catalogue? And more importantly... why can't we?? Sweet. Thanks! That actually worked. Looks like the clip I'm after is: Apron Trim Clip 10X2.5 1092696-00-B Wouldn't it be super if they actually had a "parts" option in the service section of the app. And then perhaps even a place to submit the part number and have it return what it can...

    How about a plastic sub-trunk liner/carrier?

I'm going to wake up this thread again. Note that I've been running around with a cheap liner in the sub-trunk that is doing 80% of what I want.
