    Auto Wipers

I have a 2020 Y, and I have to say that the auto wiper feature has gotten progressively worse. Recently, I made a 3.5 hour trip north into VT. The wipers activated every 10-15 minutes or so, especially when clouds or an underpass blocked out the sun. On the flip side, when it is actually...

    Tow hitch

With all the thought and engineering that seems to go into every little aspect of the car, it amazes me that this part of the Y has not been redesigned. The solution is clumsy at best and can be truly annoying at times.

Model Y 19" Tires, North California

I have run the Vredestein’s now for bit over one year in New England weather. My results are somewhat different than described above. My snow/ice experience has been far better than OEM, no contest. The car remains steady in curves and stops effectively. My efficiency drop has been closer to...

Referral plan changed after order and Tesla gave lower referral credit

I appreciate this view. However, it is interesting that Tesla kept the purchaser’s deal intact based on the time of order (not payment). I’m not really upset about this, as I’m receiving a reward for doing very little. However, it also seems that a deal set and confirmed will be realized in the end.

Referral plan changed after order and Tesla gave lower referral credit

Referred a friend who purchased a Model S. When he placed the order, I received a message from Tesla stating that 20,000 points were pending. During the wait time for pick up of the S, the program changed, dropping to 10,000. However, the original posting from Tesla never changed or updated. In...

During the wait time for pick up of the S, the program changed, dropping to 10,000. However, the original posting from Tesla never changed or updated. In...

    Supercharger Full

On a return trip from Upstate NY yesterday and pulled into an almost full set of Superchargers. While changing, the final two stalls were filled with non-Tesla’s. When a few more Tesla drivers came along and saw this, they were not happy. Making things worse, these Supercharger newbie’s took a...

    Goodyear Electric Drive GT

And the best is yet to come. No more fishtailing in the snow. This, for me, might be the best benefit between the V-Pros and OEM. Looking forward to hearing about your efficacy numbers.

    Goodyear Electric Drive GT

Been running Vredestein quatrac pro’s since last September. Over the long winter in New England, these tires were roughly 4-5% less efficient overall. Prior to the real cold months of fall, and now the warming months of spring, the tires have been on par with OEM. I suspect, with a full warm...

What knowledge do we have about best tires for range efficiency and low road noise?

Been running Vredestein quatrac pro’s since last September. Over the long winter in New England, these tires were roughly 4-5% less efficient overall. Prior to the real cold months of fall, and now the warming months of spring, the tires have been on par with OEM. I suspect, with a full warm...

Fragile top glass and windshield 😠

2 full replacements and a repair on a 3rd since October of 2020. I had one replaced windshield on a BMW in my previous 40 years of driving. Same roads, same style of driving. Coincadence?

Michelin CC2, Vredestien Quatrac Pro, or Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail?

After coming through a New England winter, I have some follow-up numbers for the Vredestien Quatrac Pro. Compared to lifetime efficiency, pre-changeover, I have taken less than a 5% hit. Having said this, the V Pro’s have not lived through the entire spring or a summer. In the past month or...

    Rattles, Rattles…Everywhere

Thanks for the support and suggestions from each of you. I will use the video for help later this weekend. Having said this, I’m pretty sure this is not my main issue. In the future, hopefully Tesla will become more realistic about these types of issues and better work to rectify them.

    Rattles, Rattles…Everywhere

Relatively early adopter with a September 2020 build. Currently at 37000 miles and never needed to bring the car in for major service. I think it is a tremendous car that balances practicality with fun. However, in all my years of driving, 40 plus, I have never owned a car that rattles so...

    Model Y long term issues

3 plus years in with Model Y. No issues that couldn’t be dealt with by Ranger, so, nothing big. My biggest concern is, if larger issues do occur. Currently, the closest service center is about 2 hours away. Further, these centers are already overwhelmed by appointments. Combined, this does not...

Michelin CC2, Vredestien Quatrac Pro, or Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail?

I have to disagree with the assessment of the Quatrac Pro in the snow. I have been running these all winter in the Northeast and they have done a fine job. Certainly, significantly better than the OEM Conti’s. Now we have not had a huge amount of snow this season, but they have held their own on...

Michelin CC2, Vredestien Quatrac Pro, or Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail?

Have been running these since September. So far the hit on range has been minor, and most of the damage has taken place during coldest weather. Will be interesting to see how the numbers move with spring on the horizon. As for snow handling, there is no comparison to the OEM Conti’s. So far...

    Model Y front windshield replacement

Two points. 1. I cannot speak to the quality of the glass Tesla uses. My assumption is that it is equal to what others use. Having said this, my 2020 MY, purchased in October of that year, has had the windshield replaced 3 times. In my previous 40 plus years of driving, I had one front glass...

    Windshield woes

Well it’s windshield number three for me. In my 40 plus years of driving, I had replaced 1 windshield prior to the MY. Since Oct. 2020, I have now needed to do so three times. Safelite, who I suspect must love me, speculates it’s the size of the windshield. I don’t really buy this. The angle...

New Heads Up Display for Model Y / 3

People often ask me how I like my Tesla Model Y. I say that it is a wonderful balance between practical and sporty. But, there are two things that would make it an even better car. 1. HUD 2. Softer suspension I had a HUD on both of my previous cars and miss it daily.

If you removed the Side mirrors on a Telsa, how much would that impact range

I suspect you will get infinite miles, at least, after you are pulled over by the police and made to tow your car.

Vredestein Hypertrac vs. Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS?

I have been running the Quatrac Pro’s since September. I confirm the review above. They have been mostly equal to OEM in efficiency. Certainly they have been far better on winter roads. Simply put, I have been very happy with my choice.
  23. D

    Model Y front windshield replacement

This all sounds strange to me. I have had 2 windshield replacements on my 2020 MY. Both times this was completed by Safelite and usually in about a months time. Possibly it was closer to six weeks first time around as we were deep in COVID time. Both replacements were OEM. I am from...

    Automatic Turn Signals

Boy my experience has been quite the opposite. Two hours on road to Boston and then back, and the auto turn signals worked about 30% of the time. Mostly, after a changed lane, my blinker continued and I needed to manually shut it off. Further, I think the manual shut off is more difficult now...

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

With the weather getting cold and more snow on the ground, I have another update. The tires are mostly a wash as far as efficiency goes. So, not sure how this will look in a couple months of driving to ski areas. What I can say still, is that the tires are far better on wet and snowy roads...

Model Y 19" All Weather Tires

No need to be sorry. With about 3000 miles using Vredestein tires I have an average efficiency of 258. My driving has been similar and though I have not had the range of environmental factors the Conti’s contended with, this is still less than my 267 lifetime. On the flip side, the Vredestein‘s...

Model Y 19" All Weather Tires

I have posted on other similar threads, so my apologies for redundancy. Have a few thousand miles on Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s. So far, slightly better efficiency and similar to OEM in terms of sound and comfort. Possibly marginally better in the latter two categories as well. So far no snow...

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

Not really sure if the ride is softer or quieter with the Vredestein’s, certainly no loader or uncomfortable.

Brand new MY first time on highway the under body plastic came off

Though not as quickly as yours, my plastic cover was not connected properly. As is became insecure from a corner, it ripped and then flapped loudly. Freaked me out the first time I heard it. Ultimately it was replaced. So far, the new one has not been an issue. Sucks that this happened to you...

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

Just a quick update for anyone interested in the Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s. After 2000 miles, efficiency is 258 vs 267 lifetime for the car. Have been getting colder weather, and still holding steady. Will report again mid-winter to highlight efficiency and handling on snow/ice compared to the...

    Replacement Tires for 19" wheels

Update on Vredestein Quatrac Pros. Close to 1k and efficiency still at or below Conti’s. Even with colder weather these new shoes perform well and compete evenly with previous OEM tires.

  38. D

    Goodyear Electric Drive GT

New Vredestein Quatrac Pro’s. Just under 1000 miles and my efficiency has improved over Conti’s. Probably some differences in driving and climate, so mostly a wash. Really like the tires, slightly softer. Wet roads are no problem. We shall see in winter.

Phone key suddenly no longer paired?

Not sure what type of phone or os you are talking about, but I noticed that since my iOS 16 on iPhone 13 update, that I pretty regularly need to manually pair my phone on entry. That process works well enough, but kind of a pain. Hopefully Tesla and Apple can get on the same page. Probably a...

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

After 300 miles, I am now matching my average in efficiency with the 19 inch Quatrac Pros. I still feel that the ride is less jarring when hitting bumps, though certainly not Lexus smooth. So far, I am quite pleased.
  41. D

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

Replaced shoes with Vredestein Quatrac Pros. So far so good. No real hit to efficiency. Tires are quiet and a bit softer it seems. I purchased these from a local tire shop. It appears they sourced them from Tire Rack….which I didn’t know was a thing. Further, their price was actually less than...
  42. D

    Replacement Tires for 19" wheels

Several hundred miles on new Vredestein Quatrac Pros and only minor changes in efficiency. Also has been warm here and these are mostly highway miles. I suspect that they will only improve as break in period continues, temperatures moderate and I have more balance between highway/non highway...

    Model Y Windshield Wait

Have had two MY windshield replacements by Safelite. Both times, it took about 3 weeks for a new screen to be installed. No issues.
  44. D

Vredestein Quatrac Pro vs Michelin PS A/S 4

Will be doing the same a week from now. Would be nice for added ride quality and less road noise. Curious how many miles you got out of your Contis?.

Two replacements on MY in 20 months. 1 windshield broken over previous 40 years.

    Replacement Tires for 19" wheels

Been going back and forth on replacement tires. 28K and the Conti’s are worn. Have not loved the OEM tires, especially for winter. Seems that each possibility has pluses and negatives. In the end, I am going with Vredestein Quatrac Pros. A local shop is able to get them for $225 which seems a...

    Model Y (LR) tax incentive?

This may have been clarified more recently, but I believe the designation of the MY as an SUV is critical in determining if the tax incentive applies. If it is, then it will fall under the cost cap. If no, then it will not. Hope this helps.

    Supercharger - West Lebanon NH

There are so few supercharging stations in VT, losing these in the middle of summer travel is pretty ridiculous.

    Tire Rotation cost.

$20 at the local tire shop. Remember to bring your lift pucks as many service centers don’t have them.
