Anyone able to get Tesla solar to install on something other than a "normal house"?

Thanks! Obviously, this isn't answer I was looking for, but I guess I have to accept that Tesla is a dead option.

Anyone able to get Tesla solar to install on something other than a "normal house"?

Are you saying that the rapid shut down requirements may not apply because it's an unenclosed, uninhabited space? PS. Tesla's inflexibility on this is baffling since they happy to install on my main roof that has all sorts of different angles, vents, and obstructions and not on a pristine...

Anyone able to get Tesla solar to install on something other than a "normal house"?

We're building a roof over a deck that is attached to the house on one side, but supported by big posts on the other. The whole thing was designed by a structural engineer and is being built with permits that have passed the Building Dept. However, I've been told by Tesla that they have a...

Why is Tesla Solar so Inexpensive Compared to Others?

My experience with Tesla is that they try to control their costs by "cherry-picking" the projects they will work with... No new construction, no roofs over decks (must have 3 solid walls), a standard number of panels, etc. Some of this may get adjusted as the project progresses. But in my case...

    Requesting a new "project advisor"?

Thanks. Yes, our existing main roof is chopped up with lots of angles which is way less than ideal for a solar panel installation. That's why we're building a pristine piece of 340 sq ft roof with no protrusions and tilted facing the sun. But it's a roof over a deck and that's where I earlier...

    Requesting a new "project advisor"?

My advisor just got back to me! But with bad news (which has been the norm with my Tesla project).... If they remove the north-facing, sure-to-be-bad-producing panels, it takes my project to below 12 panels and they won't do any project that uses less than 12 panels. So, it's sort of take it...

    Requesting a new "project advisor"?

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's work that Tesla needs to do in order to figure out of this can/should move forward. Our existing roof is less than ideal, so what the (nameless/faceless) designers did was place half the panels on the north side of the house that is sloped *away* from the Sun. I've...

    Requesting a new "project advisor"?

Does anyone have suggestions as to how to request a different "project advisor" once one has been assigned to an order? Mine will be unresponsively radio silent for two weeks at a time, then resurface, and schedule a call for week into the future. And when we finally do have a call, they are...

Impressive how much effort Tesla Energy will waste on nonviable plan

(Thanks. Thought I had chopped off enough of the address to remove that possibility.) I agree. The existing roof it not ideal. A continuous, no-vents piece of 14.5' x 23.5' roof is under construction which is where I want most of the panels to go. I completely naively expected I'd be able to...

Impressive how much effort Tesla Energy will waste on nonviable plan

At the minimum, they could put the panels on the sunny part of the exiting roof around where the red "map pointer" is located in the picture. At least it would be in the sun there. But, though this (old) satellite image doesn't show it, there's a new continuous piece of roof under construction...

Impressive how much effort Tesla Energy will waste on nonviable plan

It's been impressive how much time and effort (albeit likely largely automated) Tesla Energy will waste on a completely nonviable plan. From the first moments of my order, Tesla produced a panel layout that placed the majority of the panels on the NORTH side of the house -- tilted AWAY from the...

Anyone successful in getting Tesla to install on roof over a deck?

Don't quite follow your story.... Tesla initially said that they had to wait until satellite images were update, but then later agreed to design a layout for your 22' roof extension. But you still decided to dump Tesla and go with someone else?

Anyone successful in getting Tesla to install on roof over a deck?

I think not. I'd encourage you to check if that's what you're counting on. I'm more than a bit disappointed since our structure is designed by a structural engineer and approved by the city of Oakland, but I believe that Tesla will refuse to install on it. I'm trying to get a final ruling from them.

Anyone successful in getting Tesla to install on roof over a deck?

We're building a new deck on the sunniest side of the house and plan to cover it with a roof that would perfectly hold 16 panels. But the project managers I can get to on the phone (all junior people, so far) said that Tesla is unwilling to place panels on any structure that doesn't have at...
