CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Strange, I took delivery of my Y in Sep 2021, and it's compatible.

How I upgraded from NEMA 5-15 to NEMA 6-20 for $66

I think I see OCD here, or is it just coincidence that both outlet plate screw slots are perfectly vertical! Simple and elegant solution to triple charging speed.

Help with setting up at home charging

If you go with the option of installing a circuit when the house is built, make sure that it is where you want it to be. I installed mine in the front of the garage between two garage doors. That way I can charge vehicles in the garage on either side if pulled straight in, or charge vehicles...

    Home circuit breaker 208 volts?

Maybe some areas differ, but it would be somewhat unusual for a multi-family dwelling (other than perhaps a duplex house) to not have 3-phase power.

    6-50 Extension Cords Travel Charging

My setup is basically what you are proposing. The 3-conductor 6-50 extension cord is cheaper, lighter, and smaller than the 4-conductor cord for 14-50. You can even get or make adapters for the male end for 120V receptacles.

Not exactly true. If you stay below 50mph you won't get dinged for close following.

    Wall Connector

There are some aftermarket Tesla to J1772 adapters to do this. Or you could install a J1772 EVSE and use the J1772 adapter (that comes with the Tesla) to charge the Tesla.

40amp 14-50 outlet vs Wall Connector Gen 3

208v service, maybe a condo? The bottom line is that at 32A a 20%-80% charge will take you about 10 hours, at 48A (max possible) it would be 6-7 hours. Unless that difference is important to you I would just keep your existing 40A receptacle and charge with the included mobile connector...

2021 Refresh: Model S (and X?) Changes to 12v System

3 diodes in series will drop about 2 volts. Something like 1N5402. Probably get 3 for $1. This would be fine for small electronics but not for inverters due to high current requirement.

Why is the charge port in the back?

The electronics that controls charging is under the back seat (M3 and MY at least) so having the charge port where it is results in the shortest wire run. I mounted my wall connector inside the front wall of my garage between the 2 bays. That way it's accessible to a vehicle pulled forward...

Acceleration boost DOES NOT stay with vehicle (unless it is a private sale)

It seems shady, but as long as they are up front about it, OK. For Tesla it makes sense. Why pay extra for a software option on a trade-in vehicle when they are just going to remove it anyway? And it probably makes sense for them to strip software options from their used inventory and just...

    1-2 Times A Week Charging

+1 on the comments above. I think spending an hour or more at a Chademo charger a couple of times a week is going to get annoying very quickly. Re your main question, I don't know, it seems like you are somewhere in the middle ground as far as charge rate at 50KW. You should be able to charge...

Can I install the HPWC and a NEMA 14-50 connector from a single line?

I believe that in most cases multiple receptacles are not prohibited but there is a requirement that EV charging equipment must be on a dedicated circuit.

Can't get into Tesla app or web site

The fix was to reboot the car. At least for the phone app. I still get the redirect error when trying to access the web site, not sure what that is about.

Can't get into Tesla app or web site

App stopped working a couple of days ago, on my phone and wife's phone, would not wake up the car. Exited out of app and tried to log back in, I get 'unknown error'. I can access loot box or settings page but nothing else. When I try to log into tesla web site using my account info I get "too...

Using a Prius Prime custom cable setup with my MY -- temporary

I would be curious also to no what exactly the issue is with the existing 14-50 receptacle. Maybe an in use cover that's nor oriented correctly? Not exactly fast charging with this arrangement but better than 120V.

Tesla making CCS adapter for fast charging interface

CCS and Tesla charging are very similar. For some reason CCS chose to add a new set of power pins to handle the DC while Tesla uses the same pins for AC and DC. Not nearly the level of complication the Chademo adapter is.

    Two Teslas - charging

Why doesn't Tesla auto close the charge ports when going into gear?

So I bought the performance upgrade....

Also keep in mind that the cancel is a one-time-only option, I;m pretty sure that if you buy it a 2nd time you do not have a cancel option.

Are there fuses for the 12V power ports on the model Y?

Ah, good to know. Thanks for quick replies!
  27. J

Are there fuses for the 12V power ports on the model Y?

The owners manual doesn't even contain one instance of the word "fuse". I'm wondering what the remedy is if you overload a 12V power port. And what is the rated current for those ports?

    Jeda Hub for Model Y

CCS adapter for USA available yet?

That would require cooperation from Tesla to have Tesla vehicles support a CCS-type DC charging protocol. Obviously they can do that since they are doing it in Europe, but will they WANT to do that?

    Where's the temperature sensor?

If you are using the UMC (not clear if you meant the UMC with the 14-50 adapter) or the or the other one with the permanently attached 14-50 plug. The UMC actually has 4 temperature sensors, charge handle, controller, connector where adapter plugs into controller, and the plug on the adapter...

Wheel dolly jacks for long trip?

I saw a Tesla extension on EBAY, don't remember the details though. The other was probably the QC Charge. I didn't know that one wasn't a real product. There is a seller on EBAY selling Tesla cord-mount connectors (vehicle side) for making up Tesla extensions or adapters. I wonder if this...

12V Battery drain with Hansshow power frunk kit

If you heard the latch move after disconnecting the battery then the Hansshow is definitely drawing battery power (maybe a fair amount to hold a mechanical latch open) whenever the frunk is open. Fix for that is to close the frunk. Not sure that would explain the 12v battery running down...

Advice Needed for Install of Charger PLUS Outlet

I think Tesla should add another option in the wall connector setup, 44 amps, 55A breaker to allow legal 6/2 romex wiring. This would still meet code with a 60A breaker.

Need advise to buy MY (rented Apt)

That's a tough situation. There may be an outside receptacle reasonably close to a parking space. Often there will be a receptacle near A/C units. You can use a heavy duty extension cord with the mobile connector if you have to. And you may have to deal with a sidewalk. Might be doable if...

Wow. I hope you didn’t trip over your charger.
  43. J

    Need suggestions on charging install.

Chicago requires that everything be in pipe, so that's going to make your install more expensive. If you go with a receptacle you will need a GFCI breaker and those are $100+. For the wall charger you dont need a GFCI breaker. Also, if you use the WC, your electrician will not need to run a...

    Defective Wall Charger 3

You can charge faster with the wall connector, up to 45 mi/hr vs about 30 for the UMC plugged into a 40 or 50A circuit. I don't think that would be much of a factor for most people, full charge in 6hrs or 4hrs, do you really care?
