MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

Looking at the details of the work, as well as replacing the inverter, the other two parts they replaced were 1096344-00-C and 1096984-00-E. Both parts look very similar and both parts look like they should stop water getting in, so my theory about water ingress into the inverter "hold's water"...

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

Update The car is fixed and we're flying out on Monday to drive it home. We didn't manage to get a loaner in the UK, so it's been problematic only having one car. Tesla emailed yesterday asking me to contact the Reading service centre to see if I could get a loaner, but it's a bit late now...

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

"Ultimately" is the key word there. You'll almost certainly pay for more insurance over the course of your life than it'll pay you back. The 7 figure salaries of insurance bosses don't come from charitable donations. I have no issues with taking risks or dealing with car issues in less than...

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

I'm very anti insurance. Ultimately, insurance is never worth it, otherwise insurance companies wouldn't make a profit. They're also one of the few lines of business where they maximise their profits by not helping their customers. Virgin money's "Aah, we don't mention self drive holidays", is...

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

No - no breakdown cover. I thought I should be pretty safe with a new car!

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

We were heading to La Plagne for a week of snow for the first week of the Easter holidays... it was an incredibly wet drive. Apart from a brief interval at Reims, it was hammering down for about 7 hours. As we were heading towards Lyon we received a message saying there was an issue with the...

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

I received 2023.6.8 too. It's also fixed the issue for me.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Apparently, 2023.6.1 is not available for my car.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

China MYLR picked up Sept 22 here - a familiar story in this thread. The same issue, the same response from Tesla. 2023.6.1 is rolling out very slowly. If anyone gets this, it'll be good to know if it resolves the issue. I've just created a service request asking if 2023.6.1 is expected to fix...

Power steering vibration on Model Y

Is anyone else getting vibration on the steering on a Model Y? I picked up our car in September 2022 and recently the power steering became jittery and was no longer smooth. I booked the car in to be looked at but got a call the day before saying it was a known software issue on Model Ys with...

Have you driven the Model Y before and after suspension changes?

The most recent MYs out of Shanghai certainly have softer suspension than the vehicle we test drove. While the softer suspension does smooth out the bumps quite a lot, it does also feel like it creates a lot more wobble and decreases cornering stability. What are the thoughts of others who have...

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

You can usually add the reg manually with the car details I think. That's what I've done.

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

I hear admiral cancel your insurance if you speed 3 times in a month and punish you for driving at night or too far from home or in rush hour. Sounds like it's totally unworkable!

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

Citroen insurance only seems to insure Citroen cars. There are no other manufacturers in their drop-down list.

Shanghai July Shutdown - any changes?

One of the main things I'm interested in is the suspension. I hear the MY out of Berlin is softer than the others. Having test driven a Chinese MY, I really wouldn't mind softer suspension. Especially on the roads around here!

Shanghai July Shutdown - any changes?

I'm sure I can find a reason to reject the car!

Shanghai July Shutdown - any changes?

Yes, I'm in the same pos as you. I didn't notice how different the listed serial numbers were to mine. I guess I have no idea when it was built!

Shanghai July Shutdown - any changes?

During the Shanghai shutdown in July when Tesla upgraded the factory to improve output, do we know if there were any changes made to the Model Y build? I've just received my VIN and discovered that my build date was the end of June - I was hoping it'd be post-shutdown to so I wouldn't miss out...

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

There was no modification called "Autopilot". I tried a few things, but none made a difference. On the plus side, my quote is down to £542.34 today!

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

They want £803 from me (unless I want the black box). They are the cheapest other than Churchill.

    Model Y Churchill Insurance

I've got a Model Y that I'm picking up on the 9th of September. I went through the normal price comparison sites and was getting quotes of >£800. 43yo Male, Oxford, no claims. This compares to £419 from Churchill for my M3 that the Y is replacing. I noticed there were no Churchill quotes for the...

    Folkstone Supercharger

All chargers were available when we arrived. We hung around in the terminal until full and then joined the queue for the train. Nice and easy. No charger queues in France when heading north or south, although some were very busy, so I'm sure there are queues at times. It's hard to work out the...

    Folkstone Supercharger

We're off to France on the Eurotunnel next Saturday, M3 LR. Does anyone know if the Supercharger at Folkstone is usually available, even at busy times? Can I rely on being able to charge there? We're asked to check-in 1 hour beforehand, so we should have a fair bit of time post-check in, but...

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

We drove across Africa in a Land Cruiser 11 years ago.... the people we bought the vehicle off had done a similar trip of 9 months with a 1 year old and 3 year old in the back. I'm not sure I'd do that.

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

I'd recommend Easter as long as you're going high. Much more daylight for the drive, warmer on the pistes for the kids, the resort is much quieter as there aren't really any French kids around. Go with a French holiday provider too (We use Pierre et Vacances) and it's much much cheaper. We...

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

Oh dear, my worst fears confirmed. That said, Easter should be quieter than Feb half term as the French don't really ski at Easter and French schools aren't on holiday. You didn't happen to have a roof box did you? And if so, do you recall what your efficiency was? We've got a LR so should be...

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

It looks like chargers have appeared at La Plagne since I last checked.... Google Maps And if those numbers on Google maps are to be believed, that's 35 connectors, but that doesn't sound correct to me! Edit: Looking at the New Motion website itself, it looks like there's 1 11kw charger, so I...

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

I'm hoping we can charge at the accommodation. We're going to our usual haunt and I saw a Model S years ago running a cable out of the building. I guess with there being more EVs around they won't want to be offering that any more, but I'm hoping there are some chargers or sockets in the...

Peak Time Alps Road Trip - Charger queues?

We are (hopefully) travelling to the Alps in the Easter holidays next April and I'm perfectly happy to road trip in the M3, my concern is that it's a busy day for travelling to the Alps and if there are queues for the chargers on our 4/5 charging stops, then it's going to be a very long journey...

    Incorrect auto-profile selected

I'm currently on the toilet having a poo and my phone key is connected. She doesn't have to be next to the car. The passenger door is right next to the external wall of the kitchen.

    Incorrect auto-profile selected

So if my wife is in the house and I'm getting into the car it should default to my wife's profile? Sounds like a terrible idea to me!

Can cars ever really FSD until they can read body language?

If the car intentionally hits 1/1000 pedestrians that walk out in front of it, that'll pretty soon put an end to it! ;)
  36. W

Can cars ever really FSD until they can read body language?

The more I use autopilot the more I see the complexities of self-driving cars. Here's an example that would be impossible for a car to deal with correctly unless it can read human body language. I was on autopilot in a 50/60 limit with a very wide lane, the car was in the middle of the lane as...

    Autopilot and lane keeping

I'm pretty certain that indicating does not disengage autopilot, but massively reduces the resistance on the wheel required to disengage autopilot, so the slightest nudge of the wheel while the indicator is flashing will disengage it. After you indicate, you can take over easily without the jerk.
