Further update: V4 mounts on the same square ponies as V3 so it is entirely possible that V3s could be swapped out with no groundworks. No indication if Tesla plan to do this though.

It is at Goodwood but the new features aren’t “advertised”, but the post is the first of its kind. not sure if it can be swapped in to replace a V3 easily.

I charged at Guildford Spectrum Supercharger site yesterday but only on the 7kW Tesla wall connectors. This shows power is live to the substation and Tesla hardware. As Extra are wedded to Ionity, and leaked details suggested the Tesla site was not at the services, it does appear that there’s not going to SuCs at Beaconsfield services anytime soon.

It would be exactly the same as the Supercharging process for non-Teslas with the bay number being specified. The app has shown a wall connector in the non Tesla link.

Guildford looks like it has an issue needing resolving before opening. The tarmac had been finished but is being dug up again by the substation which suggests some sort of problem getting corrected.

All Tesla hardware is on site now (3x V3 cabinets, 12x square ponies, 12x tombstones, etc) so quite possible that it will just be a handful of weeks until works a complete but switch-on is a different matter.

MegaPacks are massively expensive. I’ve had conversations with the SuC team about exactly this and the answer is always the same; the sheer cost of adding a Megapack damages the return on investment calculation which then makes a site unlikely to be viable. A number of sites have both where V3 was added to V2 but there has never been a case of Tesla upgrading V2 bays to V3. Welcome Break seem to be reluctant to allow Tesla more than current bay numbers so the suggestion that they might be upgraded to increase throughput I think is highly unlikely,

The problem is that an upgrade still requires more HV power and that is in short supply (South Mimms is the UK’s only Powerpack-supported Supercharger site to try and get around the power limitation), and when upgrades to it happen Welcome Break will likely use the extra capacity themselves...

Sadly this may well not mean more Superchargers as Welcome Break will prioritise their AppleGreen network.

I just visited Fleet Southbound and had a chat with the contractors. Both North and Southbound are now 8x SupercharGerd and 4x Applegreen. Going live in the New Year.

Fleet Southbound is a G4E transit which are Tesla’s own contractors. I plan to pop down there after lunch so will take photos (and have a chat?).

Agreed. It seems their priority is to make profit from the charging costs rather than profit from increased footfall to the services. My logic would be to make my service areas first choice for charging and then benefit from the captive audience of customers spending 30-60 minutes spending money...

Fleet Northbound has now had the 4x unused Superchargers removed which will likely be replaced with AppleGreen chargers (Welcome Break’s own network). This is sad news as it doesn’t bode well for the Tesla-Welcome Break relationship and may mean we are unlikely to see any expansion of old sites...

Guildford seems to have progressed even faster so could be either! They also have AC charging via Wall Connectors like Newport so it will be interesting to see how these are managed,
