I use the Neocharge Smart splitter with a extension I purchased from Amazon. I'm using the Gerguirry 3 prong extension until such time we decide to remodel the house. I was worried about the extension heating up but found it to remain cool to the touch.

I'd recommend turning off the Bluetooth feature but it's better to power off the device for the best security posture. In fact powering off the device before getting to your destination is best. Keep in mind that leaving the phone in the vehicle during hot days could compromise the battery.
