    Five seat MX video

BAH! Why won't Tesla ever learn. GO LOOK AT THE INTERIOR OF OTHER PREMIUM CARS! The back seat folds 40/20/40, there is an integrated cargo net and cargo curtain (or whatever you would call it). The head rests are mounted on "pins" for a reason. Etc. Etc... CRAP! Now I have to go get a BMW when...

Model S Decimates Large Premium/Luxury Car Market

My lease is also around $1700. But due to tax effects, the hit I take on my pay in net income is about ~1000.

Model S Decimates Large Premium/Luxury Car Market

As I wrote a few posts back... Regarding prices. My S85 as a company lease cost me about $1000 a month (net so after taxes). For the same money I can get for example a Volvo v70, bmw 5series, etc. An S-class? No, it would be at least twice as much... So there you have it compared by car costs...

Model S Decimates Large Premium/Luxury Car Market

Regarding the seats. Never owned a mercedes so I compare with bmw. The next gen is comparable to bmw's sport seats. But upgrading to a sport seat is something like $600. Bmw also have what they call comfort seats which is a $2500 option. That is what the next gen seats should have been like. Niw...

Model S Decimates Large Premium/Luxury Car Market

Interior volume is not the only thing. Seats matter a lot and in that respect, the MS is laughable compared to a bmw 5 series. MS front seats are bad (incl the next gen) and the rear "bench" is just a joke when compared. - - - Updated - - - Ohh. And as soon as bmw produces a 5series with...

85 kWh battery removed from design studio

Really crappy decission IMHO. Not scrapping the 85. That's understandable. But not offering the 90 as RWD. I don't want to pay the extra money for AWD but I really need the bigger battery. Ohh well. Lease on current S85 doesn't expire until summer 2017 sp maybe they've done something else by...

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

Or maybe it was just in a draft. For a quick look in any (?) IEC standard, there is also the option to use the estonian standards agency (evs.ee) to do online browsing (webpage and standard still in english). 2 EUR per standard, might be cheaper then going to the library if you have to pay for...

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

Arg, I posted a link to a (draft?) standard in one of these ccs threads many months ago. Can't find it right now though. It had a resistor value at 1200 or 1500 ohm to signal ccs when doing the go to digital pwm signalling. Ohh. And to answer something else. Yes all of this is standardised...

    85kWh battery being phased out?

I can reach the configuration page for germany. 85 is still there. But for Canada, 85 seems gone.
  11. M

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

Maybe. I've not seen anyone doing 'go to digital signalling' with the correct CCS signaling (resistor value). So we simply don't know. But as you say, what we do know points to CAN. At least in the US.

    Firmware 7.0

Of course it's not the same. With software it makes no sense in rolling out the same thing with different version numbers. That would just add confusion. But with that said, I have no idea what the difference is between 2.8.188 (which I have) and 2.7.77.

I agree. But a CCS adapter would solve the problem as well....

German bill requires CCS and L2 plugs at every new fast charge point.

You do realize that we are comparing the european CCS to the european type 2 (which is in european teslas) right? And not the US CCS to the US tesla plug which is a much much bigger difference.

German bill requires CCS and L2 plugs at every new fast charge point.

Tesla uses the type 2 plug in europe already. If it can do 120+ kw, I see no reason the type 2 combo wouldn't be able to do the same. - - - Updated - - - What I meant is that they should have gone with the type 2 combo (CCS) plug from the beginning in europe instead of the type 2. Anyway, an...

German bill requires CCS and L2 plugs at every new fast charge point.

In what way is the number of stalls connected to the charging standard? The good thing about CCS is that it is standardized. Tesla should have realized this and take part in the standardization process from the beginning. There is nothing stopping Tesla using CCS plugs on the SC's and then...

Is Faraday Motors The Apple Car?

I might be a little to much on the european or nordic side on this. But isn't the controlling majority information in a company public information? RÖMER Kidfix in Model S

I have the kidfix in my Tesla since we had it since before we had a Tesla. Just use it with the seat belt instead of isofix. That setup passed the Euro NCAP test. Ohh and we have it in the front passenger seat and there's no isofix there anyway.

German bill requires CCS and L2 plugs at every new fast charge point.

Even though I'm a Tesla owner and think a supercharger-like network is a must to enable electrical mobility I actually think that having ONE standardized DC-charging scheme is a good thing. Tesla just have to suck it up and start using CCS (in europe, not NA) for both car and supercharger.

    EU Market Situation and Outlook

I never said 70D. I said 70... Anyway. I know they are there price wise. But for the bmw or audi you really need to add a lot of options to get a decent car. With a Tesla, not so much... Also, the current company car taxation make a tesla affordable if you're a small business owner or can get a...

    EU Market Situation and Outlook

I still think that comparing Tesla MS to S-class/A8/7-series is wrong if you want a good understanding of potential sales, the car markets, etc. Norway accounts for a lot of the sales in europe, and price wise a MS is in reach for a normal good income middle class household. The others are not...

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

22kw is too slow to be meaningful for longer travel outside of the supercharger network. Ohh, and a 22 kw station kind of sucks if there's a 48 kw ccs beside it.

SAE J1772 DC (Combo) Connector Adapter for Model S

A very US-centric perspective.... In europe we have yet to see any HPWC's from Tesla at all. At the same time it has started to pop up CCS only DC-chargers capable of at least 48 KW. Here everything when you do new installations for these kind of things are 3-phase. I expect the Tesla HPWC to be...

If there was comparable EV SUV available now would you buy over the X?

YES! (To the original question) I like my MS. It has a great power train but all those other little things that the european premium brands know how to do that Tesla fails at is starting to nag me too much.

Just a quick note. BMW 7-series is right in the middle of a model change. I think you can't get the either the old one or the new one at the moment. So low numbers for it is expected.

    Model X vs Volvo XC90

Yes it's true. sometimes the center screen needs a reboot... Every car brand will always have a few cars do weird things. 70D loaded vs. 85D with fewer options

If on a budget but need the range of the 85. Go for an 85 without D and add only options that you can't live without. The textile seats are great BTW. You need to see them before going for leather if on a really tight budget. Or maybe a back wheel drive 90?

    Model X vs Volvo XC90

The new XC90 have the capability to download new SW OTA. If Volvo ever does that? Noone knows... - - - Updated - - - If I'm not mistaken, the new XC90 is so far the only vehicle to get the new engine family from Volvo. The old ones sometimes have engines "inherited" from some Ford models...
