Now October 2023 and my new X has this issue as well. My previous 2016 X would open wide but the new car opens a few inches. Also, there is a firm resistance when you try and open it the rest of the way. Tesla service advises this is because Tesla removed the ultrasonic sensors and that a...
I guess it's a Canadian thing. I've never seen stop lights, signs or cones. I do see cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. July 2017 delivery of MX with enhanced AP but paid for FSD when on sale last year. 3.0 chip next week.
Visualizations work with MCU1 and HW 3.0? I always could see cars, trucks etc.. Stop lights, signs and cones I’ve been told can’t be seen without an upgrade of the media computer... at least that is what is being reported in Canada.
That’s good news. Amazing that so many forum posts stated the cameras on our 2.0 cars were black and white and did so with seeming authority. It appears that dash cam activation is the only visible improvement for us so far (at least In Canada). Wonder if we will ever see the autopilot...
I know our 2.0 vintage cameras are limited in the colours they are able to see. Our radar has a shorter range than later generations. Wondering how these things will limit the FSD capabilities that we purchased?
I have AP 2.0 and purchased FSD in March when it was on sale. Just asked a knowledgeable Tesla person about the timing of my upgrade to 3.0 FSD chip. We have all been assigned to 'groups', probably based on how long ago we paid for FSD. When you take your car in for service, their computer...
Likely correct. I was responding to another HW 2.0 owner who has also purchased FSD and who therefor has shorter range radar, non full colour cameras and a lack of steering redundancy. HW 2.5 came with these (and more) improvements.
Most are of the opinion that you (we) won't get sentry or dash cam because those features need a new MCU (which is a different upgrade). If you already have EAP, then you should eventually gain traffic light and stop sign recognition. Not sure what else... maybe advanced summon.
Again, I hope you are correct and when the new FSD chip is installed into my HW 2.0 car, the dashcam and sentry mode recording will start to work (even if the camera is inferior). FSD of course is a bigger deal. I don't think anyone knows for certain about what functionality is likely for HW...
I hope this is all true. My files were also messed up. Also hope 2.0 cameras can be ‘tuned’ to see colour! Red, green and yellow lights will be a little more decipherable.
I share this concern as well, especially since I recently purchased FSD. Elon has said repeatedly that all purchasers of FSD will get FSD. The next question is "will all FSD cars migrating from 2.0 and 2.5 have equal capabilities?"
Hard to imagine how my HW2.0 X with FSD will be as safe as a HW2.5 car without the improved radar and steering redundancy. Guess that wasn't part of the promise.
I should update my signature. I purchased a Model X in the summer of 2017.... just before 2.5 arrived. I bought EAP with the new car. Last week, I purchased FSD. I had some hope that the upgrade might give me the dash cam function... but unfortunately.... this does not seem to be the case.
Is there some certainty that upgrading a vehicle running HW2.0 with EAP to FSD will also enable the dash cam and sentry mode? In other words, do these features rely solely on the chip or would other parts of the computer also need to be upgraded? Most folks are saying that only the chip gets...
Elon has been hinting at new charging capabilities north of 350 Kw. This likely requires new battery chemistry but would it change the plug format as well?
EV impact on utilities? My electricity bill went up while my gasoline bill went to zero. Even in Ontario when you charge off peak (after 7:00 PM), it's like being able to buy $1/L gas for $0.30/L. I remember a time when certain friends would drive 'across town' to save a nickel on a litre of...
Sounds like I'm customer number three at the new Oakville Service Centre.
It's a beautiful facility with the nicest staff anywhere. They've added many work stations for the sales/leasing department. Parts inventory is still arriving and being setup.
Guess mine is among the first service appointments at Oakville. I have an appointment Monday AM (Feb 6, 2017). Looking forward to seeing it then AND at again socially on the 16th.
Some of the older relatives I take in the car, struggle to get into and out of the S, especially the back seats. This is the only reason that I'll be switching to an X this year (well, also AP2, better seats, newer build, AWD etc.)
For those who will take a moment to read it, here is a little piece of history from England. Climate science aside, there comes a cost to dumping garbage into the air. We understand that fact (mostly) where oceans and rivers are concerned. What is so different about our air?
I have written to TripAdvisor suggesting they add a filter to the hotel search to locate hotels with charging. I received a response saying that they were working on it. If you use TripAdvisor, then I suggest sending them a note also. Couldn't hurt.
Wonder how long before we see one of these new Super Duper Chargers installed in Canada? They will need to be backward compatible with the current fleet. Wonder if many of the existing locations could handle the power to be upgraded?
Has Elon made any comments about the number of service centres that will be needed to manage the fleet a year or two from now? Seems like a tsunami of pain is on it's way unless they start actively working on this now.
Yes it probably would be. If a battery pack degraded much more than the fleet average, I expect Tesla would cover it. The issue however is, what constitutes "excessive"? I am not aware of anyone having a pack replaced under warranty due to battery degradation (and this is likely a good thing).
Fair points but in my experience degradation is frequently brought up. It is usually couched in terms of 'how long before you need to replace the battery?'. As stated previously, the current warranty does not apply to degradation. If the data exists to support it, Tesla might be able to offer...
Yes... this was exactly the point in my original post. I frequently take my car to cruise events and it's the only EV there. I'm always asked about battery life (after the usual... how far, how long to charge, where do you charge etc.). The S has only been around for a little more than 4...
