My heart goes out to the Tesla workers, families

Yes. I love my Tesla’s and the dedicated team that’s so involved in their success. Thanks. My best to all!

Glossy center console (like M3) in MY?

Aftermarket wraps work well and aren’t complicated to apply. Did my 3 and it’s a big improvement. Thanks

    Backseat hammock for dogs

I use an Orvis and find it works well for my 76 lb Greyhound. He has no trouble jumping in and out and enjoys being my backseat driver.

    Model S —> Model 3 : Any regrets?

One more perspective from one who has both. The S is older (almost 6) without AWD and autopilot but at 82k miles it still has great road manners, a comfy ride with its air suspension, a pano roof, winter package, and parking sensors. The tech in my AWD 3 far surpasses it but for me it’s a...

    M3P VS M3D

That was my call. Plenty of power. How many of us need a car that’s faster than 4.0 to 60? The P would have been a vanity purchase for me and I think I lost mine a decade ago.

    Portland Metro area electrician?

Another vote of confidence for All-Pro. They put in my initial outlet in 2013 and added another last fall for my 3. Both are trouble free.

What Kind of Car Did The Model 3 Replace?

Kept my ‘13 S, sold the ‘06 Boxster S for my AWD 3. Miss the top down morning and evening romps but they were getting scarce and, truth be told, prefer either Tesla.

New Model S Owner, Warranty Ends soon, what to do?

I opted for the extended warranty on my ‘13 S85 and so far (82000 mi) I’m even on cost. Worth it for me for the security and seems to be paying off. I always get a loaner Tesla.

Oregon EV Rebate turnaround time frame

Applied within a week or two of the 10/15 purchase. Just got the check last week. Yippee, new summer wheel set!

    Sudden Phone Key Issues

Yes. Mine failed today and won’t reset.

    Problem with Trak Sport Snowchains

Two thoughts. Did they come with the 21mm sockets? Mine were a tight fit anyway to get seated so I used a rubber mallet at first, then got some gorilla lug nuts which made it easier. They’re more durable as well

[video] The first Tesla Model 3 in Russia. Do russians know about EVs?

Igor, Your enthusiasm and accomplishments are inspiring. I’ve loved your presentations at TMC as well. I hope Tesla is able to officially help out though know the trade climate is difficult. If it was just people to people we’d do fine.

    Question about used 2013 Model S 85

The nonadaptive cruise control is easy to modulate in 1or 5 mph increments. I find it fine for relaxing trip cruising.

Did anyone else get the call: "Reaching out to early adopters"?

Yeah, I got the calll as well. No pressure and no big deal.

    Snow Chains for Model S

19" RWD abraded with Z chains. Trak's eliminate this issue and work well.

Plaza Inn, Ashland Oregon. Any info?

There's also a Chademo at the south end of town to use. The Caldera Brewpub which is adjacent has great Mahi Mahi burgers as well as a good brew selection. Across the street are Mix (really good sweets and coffee) and the Greenleaf (an Ashland favorite for casual and healthy food).

    ChaDeMO not working

I've gotten error messages using Chademo twice. Both were fixed remotely by calling the number on the charger and having it rebooted
  18. S

    Mt. Hood

Ski bowl has a Chademo as well as the j1772.

    Month old 90D won't start.

Another variation. I had a download stop mid-stream and the car was inoperable. The Tesla team disabled the parking brake with a bypass in the trunk and we rolled it on their flatbed. In the shop they had to redo the download and reset the charger I was told.

    Thank you!

I'll add my kudos to all involved. The content was great but even better was the opportunity to strike up a conversation with a stranger, share a story or two, and connect with this bright, accomplished, and eclectic tribe. I'll look forward to the next.

    Ice on 90 degree day

Old issue but had 75% icing at the Corning supercharger (3 of 4 stalls) today just after noon. Large motor home parked for lunch who assumed they "weren't used much." He moved after a polite discussion but suspect better signage would help.
  22. S

    Got my new 85D today

Try a reboot. My signal got cranky after the last system download but returned to normal after rebooting.

new Trak Sport Snow Chains on Tesla Store

Exactly. I had a set last winter that I mounted in the garage (very easy) but got no snow use since winter didn't show up in the NW. These are the approved chains in Europe.

new Trak Sport Snow Chains on Tesla Store

It's what they cost from other suppliers as well.

    I'm seeing red...

This is my third red car and the best. Still have a Guards Red Porsche (a bit too orange). Had an Alfa GTV 6 Milano (nice but darker). The MC red really pops. I smile each time I see it.

PowerWall and "The Missing Piece..." Event

Well put Beeeerock. I found it inspiring and hopeful.

Got mine today. Requested in mid-Nov '13.

    SurfSand resort Cannon Beach Oregon

I'm posting from the Surfsand. Excellent setup with 3 HPWC's and 2 Clipper Creeks in a row. Resort is clean, comfortable, and ideally located for the Haystack Rock beach stroll.

    14-50 Installer in Portland/Vancouver?

I used All Pro Electric, 503-246-0361. Recommended on Angie's List and lived up to accolades.
  30. S

How would YOU configure a Model S for the budget conscience?

Good calls. To save a few bucks you might reconsider the silver and drop the pano since it's an elegant color, I think. I wouldn't sacrifice the tech package in this tech car.

TeslaTime — Clock, Stocks and Weather — First and Free

Hey thanks! Just loaded in my beauty and it looks good.

    Parking with auto-leveling suspension

I always raise before parking over suspected high curbs. Mine keeps the height and only returns to standard with increase in speed when driving off. Also it sets the automatic height for that location. If yours isn't operating that way you should take it in.

P85D "Unable to Charge" at Supercharger

Yep. It's the standard connector for a 14-50 wall socket.
  34. S

P85D "Unable to Charge" at Supercharger

Aggravating for sure but likely just a teething issue easily fixed. I had a bad UMC early on but, after replacement, have had no problems in 22000 miles.

Performance Driving class at PIR - anybody have experience with that?

I took a 2 day Pro Drive course a couple summers ago and had a blast. Cars were Formula Ford track cars and were super responsive. Instruction was great. You can add a third day and get a driving certificate as well.

    My Year without Gasoline

I share your enthusiasm. 14 months and 22500 miles, every one a joy.

    Refuel 2014

My strategy as well. Corkscrew was fun!

Don't sweat the small stuff. You'll love it!

    My car is a nonstarter

Added wrinkle. On the invoice I find they had to "reset the onboard charger" for the re-install.
  40. S

    Textile or leather?

Fond of my textiles. Comfortable and durable over 20,000 miles. Synthetic inserts don't bother or appeal to me but aren't in contact in my normal driving position. I'd do it again.
  41. S

On a budget....S60D with Tech vs barebones S85???

I wouldn't compromise on tires to reach a price point. Stopping traction is at least as important as forward traction and all wheel won't help with that. I also think that in most conditions a rear drive with snows will outperform a 4wd with all seasons. A few years back my Audi was totaled...

    My car is a nonstarter

Yep Todd. You get the M+M's!

    My car is a nonstarter

She's back and I'm told it was an easy fix once they'd cleared the botched download and reapplied. Sorry I can't detail the brake deactivation. I'll stop by and ask Steve my next time by the service center. It may have been a more specialized bit of equipment than just a jumper since he...

    My car is a nonstarter

Steve tried to reinstall the update after pulling a "forget me" fuse but no go. I'll post the rest of the story when in.
  45. S

    My car is a nonstarter

Well, She's off to the mother ship. Move involved a deactivation of the parking brakes with a jumper, uphill muscle out the garage door, and a Tesla/soap box derby run onto their trick flatbed truck up the foot-wide ramps. I'll update the gremlins.
  46. S

    My car is a nonstarter

It's getting interesting. The tow trucks came and went though the car remains in its home base. Problems include inability to engage tow mode, height, or even neutral. Garage door is too narrow for dollies and the space between the garage and retaining wall too short for the flatbed. Much...

    My car is a nonstarter

Oh yes. They even sent a ranger on a Sunday but, alas, no go. It's being towed in tomorrow with an unclear diagnosis. Glad this happened at home and think I'll avoid downloads on a trip. I'll update the thread with the diagnosis.
  48. S

    My car is a nonstarter

Had a software download last night and this morning my car won't go. Error messages include "car needs service" and "3!". It charged normally but now the port stays black and I can't reconnect. The bluetooth sucks all sounds so, until I disconnected it, I couldn't talk with ownership. Unlike...

    snow chains

I'm waiting to see what they come up with this year. My Tesla approved and purchased chains made grooves in the lower suspension arms.
