Replacing cabin air filter and cleaning evaporator fins in 2021-2022 MS

If you go the no-filter route I'd be careful. Any dust will cake on the coil when it's damp from condensation. I'd at least stick some filter media in the filter housing. A pleated 14x20 filter from a Hardware store works well. Just need to plug up the remaining small gap at the sides at the...

Replacing cabin air filter and cleaning evaporator fins in 2021-2022 MS

It's not the coil at all. Just take the hepa filter out from under the hood. Two bolts off the small battery, wiggle it down below the air tank, unplug the sensor (squeeze the back) and unlatch the housing. Easy. Smell that dark side of your filter. The air will be clean smelling inside your...

Replacing cabin air filter and cleaning evaporator fins in 2021-2022 MS

Maybe this helps. I'll report back once I've reinstalled the hepa filter as I'm out of town for a bit. Took it out, vacuumed each crevice really well with a crevice tool, sprayed with Nextzett 96110515 Klima-Cleaner Air Conditioner Cleaner from Amazon deep into each crevice on the dark side and...

Please see my reply above. Somehow it posted under your name.

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

It's still working well. Just a tick looser but the screen still stays in place just fine. I drove an updated Model S with the articulation motors working a few weeks back and found that the tilt angle is way less than this manual approach...by about 20% I'd guess.

    Supercharger - Clemmons, NC

I'll check today but I think something is happening in the Lowes Foods parking lot as I've noticed a construction fence on the car wash side of it. The tractor trailer was parked all day yesterday behind Lowes Foods.

Model S Refresh - Rear Rattle and Suspension Clunk Help

Same here. Nov 2021 LR. I have 30k miles on it and over the last few months the groans and rattles and creaks are getting worse. Of course a long hatchback is not easy to keep quiet as they naturally flex a lot but my beat up 2001 Tacoma with 210,000 miles on it rides quieter over bumps. It's...

Refresh MXP- Auto dome lights keep reverting to off

Update and for what it's worth: I've just noticed yesterday that the dome lights work as intended for the front passenger door as long as the drivers door stays shut. Need to check the rear doors next.

Refresh MXP- Auto dome lights keep reverting to off

Ditto to all of the above. The ambient light button is afflicted also. 2021 MS LR, FSD beta, 2022.20.18. (10.69.2.3)

Any 3rd part screen swivel kits for the Refresh S?

Not yet. But I did notice that the tilt angle is quite a bit more than what the motorized version allows. About a couple of inches extra on the far sidebar. The shroud actually does not cover the gap behind the screen and you can see a part of the mounting hardware. I like the way it tilts that...

    CNN denouncing FSD and Tesla

One can't avoid all news but basically I stay away from consumer news or cable TV if I can help it. Best move ever. Yes, international sources are definitely better quality and I'm German so I have another way of fact checking certain things if I really want to dig into something more global.

    CNN denouncing FSD and Tesla

Whatever CNN say doesn't bother me. I've quit listening or watching any news around November 2021, that's also when I got my Model S. I'm much happier now...not sure what to attribute that to but I take it. It's like reading about how bad alcohol is for your brain...best choice to make is to...

Water under driver seat and rear footwell on Plaid

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm glad they could fix yours and that they have some experience with this issue by now. Per the service manual the battery needs to be dropped to access that drain hose and otherwise the entire dash assembly needs to come out to get to much of anything...

    BMW to Tesla Experiences

We have a 2021 BMW M340i and a 2021 refresh Model S longrange. A Tesla MS will rattle and creak like an old truck on occasion, especially on rough roads or over wavey terrain. The BMW will not make a sound other than its drive train and tires, no matter where you drive. That's the bottom line...

Climate Control Issue - climate keeper not working due to system fault

Had this issue fixed three weeks after a windshield replacement, when this issue had started. See above. The THS sensor needed a firmware update. This also fixed the malfunctioning passenger side door handle, which quit working that day. Glad nothing needed to be taken apart. On another...

Climate Control Issue - climate keeper not working due to system fault

I'm having the same issue with the remote climate functions not working. I'll report back after my service visit on 8/3/22. The issue started after a windshield replacement. Also the front passenger door handle had quit working while it was in service.

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

As long as you have the hardware version behind the screen as shown in the images further above you should be able to rig that. Only way to find out is to remove the screen.

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

Glad I could be of help. I still haven't worked out why mine won't push in all the way on the right after I've installed the screen for a second time. At the first time I put it in it worked flawlessly but I forgot to put the plastic shroud on...maybe it is the culprit but the resistance is a...

Climate keeper unavailable due to system fault.

I'll keep you posted on what they are going to do. My appointment was moved to 8/2/22...of course. I'll take the rearview mirror housing apart this weekend and have a look myself. Others had a pinched harness up there. The door acts up even worst after washing the car...might be unrelated to...

Climate keeper unavailable due to system fault.

Same here. Can't activate keep climate, dog mode or camp mode. This all happened after getting the windshield replaced on 7/11. The right front door handle is working sporadically also now. No type of re-boots worked. Have an appointment at the SC on 7/20.

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

Partial success! -Take the worm drive assembly out -Detach the two brackets (t45) and 10mm bolt at the screen -Use 2 M8 nylon washers at the 10mm bolt as spacers and one large m16 at top to control the friction (each side) -Only hand tighten the t45s to adjust the friction to your liking...

Any 3rd part screen swivel kits for the Refresh S?

Yes. It works quite well. I'm messing with it tomorrow again to see if I can adjust the clamping force of the bolts by adding various nylon or plastic washers and removing the gears so the screen can be moved by hand yet stays in place enough to be usable.
  30. S

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

Thanks for the feedback. Glad yours is solid so there is hope! I've rushed the assembly somewhat. This weekend I'll take it back apart and have another look to see what can be improved. I'll let you know if I figure out how to make it movable yet stable for use.
  31. S

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

Thanks for the link! It's a bit scary handling the screen but the whole thing is pretty straight forward otherwise. Just watch where you lay down the screen. You can move the gear by hand if you open the small gear boxes, just don't over-torque the screws when reassembling them. Using the drill...

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

Great document! Exactly my thought, to adjust the clamping force of the t40's so the screen can be articulated by hand yet stays in place. Btw, mine is not 100% secure. It can be lifted slightly after all bolts are tight. Maybe an 8th of an inch. I'll dive back into that later and find out why...

Model S manually tilted screen - fixed

I've just finished tilting the screen on my 2021 MS longrange manually. A few pictures are attached and when I have more time I'll write up some step by step directions how do go about this. It took me about two hours to figure this out but I guess it would only take about 45 minutes now to...

    Dust Behind Instrument Cluster (Cleaning?)

Watch Munro Live on YouTube. Their instrument panel episode shows that the section between the screen and the clear cover is actually ventilated. This certainly would introduce small particles over time. If those particles can be removed is questionable. I wonder if there is a local filter...

Model S refresh - Reduced Front Radar Visibility

The original seat had a 6 inch long 'bubble' near the headrest. They could not steam it out and replaced the entire seat as covers only are not yet available. The new one has a 2" crease on the seat cushion near the right knee area and at the headrest there is excessive material that bunches up...

Model S refresh - Reduced Front Radar Visibility

Mine just came in a couple of days ago. Took about 2 weeks and I put about 1500 miles on their loaner (MX) in that time. So far so good, everything is working and I am quite happy to have my MS back. They listed the radar as a Generation 2 radar in the invoice so hopefully this is a permanent...

Model S refresh - Reduced Front Radar Visibility

AcesAreWld: Very same here. Good post! The plot thickens: I had confirmed with Tesla Charlotte a couple of days before my appointment that they have a radar unit in stock as I don't want to waste a 1.5 hour trip each way not getting anything resolved with the radar if it's indeed defective...

Plaid Suspension / Steering clicking issue.

Had my service appointment. The next day they said they fixed the clicks but the car is still there...for a week now actually! I'm driving a 2019 MX loaner in the meantime. That thing feels like it's falling apart (has around 21k on it.) Rattles and shakes when accelerating, tag expired!, very...

Model S refresh - Reduced Front Radar Visibility

Thanks for the update. I have the very same issue. Hopefully it will get resolved. Took delivery early November 21. The Radar started acting up at around 6,000 miles with a couple of warning messages of reduced visibility and two days ago quit working altogether.

Plaid Suspension / Steering clicking issue.

The left rear trail link is being replaced. They say that's the noise but that's just not true. The rear link does pop though and I'm glad they are taking care of that but I'll just have to ride with the tech and show them as they are two distinctly different sounds. That'll happen on 2/4/22...

Anyone tried active noise cancellation in 2021.40?

I have done some more testing by now and continue to find a similar issue here but with mine it's a monotone sound somewhere in the 150 hz range. It's quite consistent. I found that the ANR works actually on the low rumbles of an uneven road, quite well actually, but at some point the system is...

Plaid Suspension / Steering clicking issue.

Of course no clicking was to ne replicated the day the service tech was here but we found a rattle in the rear hatch interior cover, under the carpeted part. The clips holding that piece don't engage into the hatch frame properly. I've used a frequency generator app and dialed it in at around 58...

Plaid Suspension / Steering clicking issue.

Same issues here. Started shortly after delivery (LR). The clicking is audible most days but usually only for the first few minutes of a drive. I have driven about 4k miles and was hoping it would go away but no luck. I have the impression it might be temperature related, like most of the...

Anyone tried active noise cancellation in 2021.40?

I've tested some more. Again getting strange humming sounds, quite loud actually, on the right side. When I switch the feature they immediately go away. Something is either wrong or there is a fault in the software. Back to testing..
  47. S

Anyone tried active noise cancellation in 2021.40?

I can't make out any real difference. There is a sensation of a slight pressure change in my ears when turning the ANR on, so I think the speakers are trying to do something to reduce some noises. I do hear a very slight and annoying humming sound on occasion which seems to go away when turning...

    Model S Refresh Speaker Rattle

Took delivery early November, long range. I have rattles all over the car and I agree with your statement very much. Flat treble, way too forward sound stage, muddy base. Immersive sound sounds like an echo in a tin box though brings the soundstage back a tiny tick but is useless as it sounds...
