OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

I had not noticed but might explain the better pricing. Hopefully it has enough cooling power for the space since that is its intended purpose.

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

@Rocket_man Thank you. I am still trying to confirm that the quoted Carrier product qualifies for 30% tax credit. They provided AHRI Certificate and the SEER rating looks good but I don’t see it listed as Energy Star qualified. Do you believe the AHRI certificate is sufficient:

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

update: Lowe’s offers install but installer will not install Lowe’s products. He said something about lower manufacturing quality of products off the shelf. His company installs only Fujitsu and said price would be about $7,500 installed. A little better but ….

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

Carpe Diem @Rocket_man If mini split was going in my garage, or even first floor, I might try it but it’s second floor. The proliferation of DIY video tutorials is amazing. But this one requires integration into my electrical panel, already encumbered by the PV and PW. I’d be in over my head...

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

Nice work, research and execution. Yes, I think with the federal tax credit the contractors are trying to capture that, and may be a bit more. It’s ridiculous to think a homeowner is going to spend $7,500 to install a $1,000 product. Frustrating.

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

I’m seeking to reduce kWh daily use (and PW drain during outage) by cooling our bedroom w/ 12k BTU, 22 SEER, 230 volt, single head mini split. Two bids/quotes: Both about $9k. Product pricing for outdoor compressor, indoor head unit, and line set is about $1,500 (Mitsubishi) and under $1,000...

PV not turning on during outage, PW <90%

I’m have same experience. PW at 87%. Grid Down. No PV. sun will set before PW reaches 75% so won’t know if PV will kick on at 75%. Is this normal or should PV kick on to charge PW back to 90% or 95%?

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

I was wondering how to apply 10% guideline suggested by @BGbreeder too. Regarding how to stop PW useage whike charging EV, I just slide PW Backup to 100% and set myself a reminder to adjust it back

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

This adds clarity. And yes, I’d just like PWs to power house during peaks, and be left fully charged during all off peak hours. Right now PW is still being depleted off peak, like on weekends, for no reason which reduces backup in case of outage. It would be better if we could completely...

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

It’s confusing. If your correct that you can stop your system from drawing from grid during peak times by adjusting buy/sell prices, what happens when you set your sell price above what utility carrier will pay. Your extra solar must go someplace or your system shuts down. I have a feeling...

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

I wondered what compensation is given from PECO for solar produced and transferred to the grid during peak hours. So PECO likely draws from my Solar during peak hours but only pays me off peak rates?

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

I have TOU option with price for peak hours (2-6 PM) substantially higher than off peak. So my PW automatically draws down during peak hours and charges from the grid during off peak hours. I believe I have 1-1 Net Metering through PECO (Pennsylvania) but with TOU rates, it still makes sense...

PW TOU Price Settings for Buy & Sell

What parameters are reasonable to enter into settings for buy/sell behavior? I’m not necessarily looking to maximize return but rather avoid blocking buy/sell with matching amounts for buy/sell. Image shows current setting: my TOU rates, and my buy/sell parameters, all match. Is this a...

Can PW2 be scheduled to grid-charge at midnight?

Never mind. Looks like I need to adjust settings for mid and off peak
  21. M

Can PW2 be scheduled to grid-charge at midnight?

TOU is setup through AP. PW2 will discharge at peak TOU (2-6 PM). However, PW grid-charges during mid-peak the next morning (6 AM), rather that at off-peak (12-6 AM). Can this default be overridden to maximize energy savings to always grid-charge at midnight?

Home charging M3 RWD at 48A on Tesla Wall Charger

Is it ok for my daughter to charge her M3 RWD on my Tesla wall charger at 48 amps or should the amperage be reduced when charging the M3?

What are your home electricity rates?

I called PECO last week. Answer may not include incidentals. I callled because monthly bill states “price to compare” was about 0.8. I am on TOU plan. Integrated Powerwall used during peak hours (purchased w/ 30% tax credit): 0.28 peak 0.0629 off peek 0.0406 super off peak (12-6 AM)

How Do I Responsibly Report a Powerwall 2 Hardware Safety Defect?

Yes, I’m aware of heat rising so ceiling would be logical location but the height and size of the room suggests something lower would be more sensitive, although ceiling likely captures and pools the heat so likely best option despite the distance from the source of the heat.

How Do I Responsibly Report a Powerwall 2 Hardware Safety Defect?

As an end user with two PW2’s in garage attached to interior wall, what is recommend heat/smoke alarm and install method where ceiling height is a factor; can heat sensor go on the wall just above PW or would it be preferable to build a small shelf from wall so heat sensor is directly above PW...

Discussion : All discussion regarding Model 3 and Tax credit in model 3 subforum

My daughter and I picked up her M3 RWD yesterday. Black on black for $36 and change. She placed the order Tuesday and picked it up Friday. Aside from time spent going over the car, closing the sale took less than 30 minutes. We are both thrilled.

I think this matches our experience. When I posted above that I only came to learn of the power outage through the app, I should’ve added that in hindsight, there was a millisecond of the lights dimming and the TV may have flickered. But if it were not for the app, notifying us of a power...

Is this Lease a good deal?

I wondered too but it is certainly not easy to avoid Tesla financing when your purchase is done remotely on Tesla’s webpage. I suppose you could get the loan first and then pay cash? Rates are high everywhere now so likely not worth the trouble anyway.

Two PW2s installed in October. Very pleased. App is terrific. TOU plan is great. App Automatically draws from PW at peak rate window after sun goes down. Had two power outages and only knew because AP sent notice. Recently received $1,000 check from Tesla! Rating: 5 Stars for PW2
