Looks like Tesla still hasn't fixed this issue on the refreshed Model S. My 2022 just suffered the same failure. Thankfully the trunk still opens/closes, but the car alarm went off yesterday because it thought someone was trying to open the trunk while it was actually locked and closed.
Mobile...
OP, did you watch the Mobile Tech disable the radar from the frunk, or did they remove the front bumper to get to it?
Personally, I'm fine with them doing it from the frunk, but I don't want them messing with the bumper.
No issues here! Feel free to go ahead with my original suggestion from above.
Pro Tip: Set your suspension height to medium to increase the lifespan of the tires
I don't work for Tesla, all the info I have is from things posted publicly. Check out @greentheonly on Twitter. He has a handful of recent Tweets about this situation.
He suggested several times that Tesla will (likely) offer retrofits to enable Steam on 2021/early 2022 Model S/X
What are everyone's thoughts on Tesla enabling Steam only on the mid-2022 Model S vehicles?
Didn't they promise this for all refreshed Model S in marketing material? Free MCU retrofit coming?
The OEM tires have the exact same issue. Here's are a few threads discussing it:
- Plaid tire failure
- Unhappy: Refreshed Plaid Shredded Tire and Damaged Rim
- Plaid tires separate at 6K miles.
- Plaid 21”rear tire woes - factory defect?
Ps. Your response to that service rep was unnecessary...
I'll report back here if I run into any issues. Others have mentioned running these same tires without issue, but didn't make a dedicated thread about it.
I had Michelin Pilot All Season 4 tires mounted today on my 2022 Model S LR with Arachnids.
From the factory, Tesla ships the following tire sizes:
Front: 265/35/21
Rear: 295/30/21
The fronts are perfect. Unfortunately, for the rears, Michelin does not make All Season 4s in 295/30/21...
Hi all,
Just writing back that Tesla ended up replacing my front stabilizer bar link.
If re-torquing your front skid plate/sub-frame doesn’t work, this might be worth a shot.
Hi all,
Just jumping in here to say that Tesla replaced my Stabilizer Bar Link.
Might be worth looking into if re-torquing the skid plate doesn’t help.
Thanks!
I went in on Labor Day and asked them to re-torque the skidplate/subframe. They claim they did, but the issue is still present.
I'm going back tomorrow and asking for an experienced tech. In addition, I printed out 2 pages of invoice screenshots from the threads you sent over above.
Hi all,
My 2022 Model S has started to develop a clicking sound from the front end whenever I turn at low speeds, especially onto inclined surfaces (ie. driveway).
I took it into service yesterday. Despite telling them the sound is likely coming from the skidplate/front subframe (based on what...
I am experiencing the exact same issue on my Model S LR at ~6,000 miles.
There's clicking when I turn at low speeds and gets louder when I turn onto an inclined surface.
I submitted a service request mentioning the front skid plate needing to be re-torqued.
Has anyone had this issue re-occur...

Hey y’all.
My Model S has started developing a clicking sound that happens whenever I turn at low speeds and gets louder when I turn onto an incline.
Other threads suggest that the front skid plate needs to be re-torqued. Has anyone experienced this?
Tesla just approved my warranty claim and will replace the Yoke.
If you're experiencing this issue, please don't hesitate to contact Tesla. They'll make it right for you.
Yup.
I’ve seen two problematic areas with the Yoke that experience this issue:
1) The bottom corners - This is likely from constantly rubbing that area while getting in and out of the vehicle.
2) The top “nubs“ - This area seems unpreventable because you’re supposed to hold the Yoke there...
Hey folks,
Just jumping in to say that I am experiencing a similar issue on my 2021 Model S LR.
The top left corner of the Yoke has started to peel despite me being very gentle with the car.
I just scheduled mobile service and requested a replacement.
Just a heads up that the "Window Issue(s) Detected" is an automated message when the car thinks something is wrong with it.
I had the same message pop up on mine (same window too) and asked them to remove it from the estimate. In order to replace the front window regulator, they need to take...
Hey folks, I could really use some help isolating this clicking sound coming from the headliner in my Model S.
The sound is quite faint, but varies on how fast I'm driving. It clicks every half second when I'm moving. Sometimes it's louder when I'm driving faster.
After 30 minutes of...
When Tesla first unveiled the refreshed Model S/X, they promised multi-device Bluetooth which would presumably be useful for rear-seat passengers watching media on the second-row screen.
It doesn't seem like this feature has been added yet. Does anyone have any insight into if/when this will...
Another one to add to the list. My front passenger door opened by itself today while driving. Error message said that the manual door release was pulled.
Let me guess, you haven't used Tesla Vision, yet you're coming to a conclusion before ever trying it?
My car was delivered with radar and had it software disabled with FSD Beta.
Even when I use regular Tesla Vision Autopilot on the highway (not FSD Beta), I can absolutely confirm that it...
