Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Joe’s videos seem to suggest a good rate at the moment - looks like maybe around 100 a day perhaps

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I believe that in today’s update (later on) he mentions the delivery of some TKS paint system components to that area. The original system had some similar tanks according to Joe Video is usually available mid afternoon for non Patreons

    Are acoustic tires noticeably quieter?

Perhaps this would be better in another area of the site- doesn’t seem software related to me?

    2024.2.2.1 odometer display problem, pre-Autopilot Model S

I would love to be able to switch back to the original Speedo/power meter again. I loved that display in my original S

Slow charging woes at home charger

Most likely the battery is cold, due to the temps (assuming this was after sitting for a while). Leave it charging and I expect it will speed up after the battery gets warmer due to the charging. If there is a ‘real’ issue, you should see an error message on the car screen, telling you why the...

bringing a car with free lifetime supercharging to Europe - will it work?

Aren’t all SCs in Europe CCS? So I am guessing you would not be able to charge at all.

    SpaceX F9 - Starlink Group 7-9 - SLC-4E

Is there an updated time for this launch. I saw a website claiming tonight (1/2/24) at 9:31, but not sure if that is local or eastern or what? Or is it actually for Wednesday?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Just a small, after hours PSA Turns out the display CTs are being moved around once a month. I just went to the store in San Diego areas UTC store and it is gone, moved to Riverside apparently. So sadly I missed it

But that would be a real limitation. Say I want bots in my factory to carry out some very particular activity that would save me a huge amount of money. I would have to apply to Tesla and get in some queue to have them (maybe) add that skill in several years?

Thinking about the difference between the single amorphous ‘blob’ end2end versus a stack with some form of intermediate API style connections - this will be very important for Optimus - for that to be very successful it will require an ecosystem similar to the Apple AppStore along with...

Supercharger - Bakersfield, CA - Copus Rd. (LIVE, 20 V3 stalls)

Drove by this evening and it showed as unavailable. I could clearly see the stalls, all empty, so I assume it is powered down for some reason?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I completely agree, but it seems so lopsided - I have observed the same thing for carriers heading north towards Oregon as well, there is nowhere near a matching flow back towards the factory as from it, either loaded or empty. Yesterday I saw 4 or 5 non Tesla carriers heading south, but not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not towing related, but a simple question. For fun when driving along I5 between LA and the Bay Area I count the southbound Tesla transporters. Yesterday I saw 28 in a 2.5 hr morning stretch. Which leads to my question - why do I not see a similar number of empty transporters heading north...

Supercharger - Santa Nella, CA (LIVE, 48 V3 stalls)

Looks like the Rivian stalls are ready - they had an R1T there for testing it seems. Two of those stalls are along the kerb to allow trailers

Why do Teslas make that sound?

Yes, it’s the law now. came in around 2019 sadly. Other EVs have their own noises, but they all have to do something.

Wales to introduce 20mph default speed limit

Many years ago I went to college in North Wales - we had a wonderful time rallying, both on the roads and in the forests. Can someone explain how this new rule applies? Is it in urban areas only? What are the limits in regular rural roads? What about on the single track roads in places like...

    2023 Model S Road Noise?

My ‘22 has the 19” Continentals and it too suffers a lot of road noise on concrete surfaces. My local stretch of I8 goes from concrete to new blacktop and the difference in noise is astonishing. These tires seem very bad with rough surfaces.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - University Center Lane (PERMANENTLY CLOSED 23 Oct 2023, 7 urban stalls)

Completely removed. The cabinetry and signs on the other wall are completely gone as well. This area is still taped off - don't know if that means anything or they simply left it like that so they could re-paint perhaps.

Any way to turn off forward collision warning?

I recall getting an update that changed the setting from late to early warning and I suddenly got several warnings for silly situations. So worth checking that setting again and making sure it is set to ‘late”

Has anyone seen the current Honda ads? Shows a series of CGI vehicles, including a rendering of the upcoming car they are licensing from Chevy. In the small print it says ‘imaginary vehicles shown throughout’ and it also shows a VTOL and some guy playing with a toy moon station. The punchline...

Battery getting less range overtime when charging at the same level

It is always worthwhile to occasionally charge to 100% and let the BMS have some time to check the cells - this often corrects the predicted miles. I have had my most recent S for a year but only done one long run in that time. I recently had two trips where I charged to 100% in preparation...

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

I recently spent the night at the hotel and walked the entire property - there was definitely no diesel charger, mobile or otherwise anywhere onsite.

    Eclipse 2023

Similar coverage here and you could see it was darker and much cooler. Another cool thing was the dappled sunlight through trees - all acted like little pin hole cameras, so there were millions of little crescents!

Model S Wind Noise Reduction Kit

Thanks for this. On my car the overwhelming noise is from the tires. It is hugely noticeable going from concrete surfaces to black top. Can you estimate the level of road vs. wind on your car?

Harris Ranch superchargers powered by diesel generators??? Really?

However, anyone who actually visited this location (as I have multiple times over the years and most recently in September) would know there are no diesel generators on site at all and certainly no Tesla flatbeds - there is no diesel power on any of the hundred or so SC at location.

    Show of hands… Adaptive Suspension

I’ve done several longer drives in the last days and this setup really feels better (note I am not really ‘pushing’ like in my long ago rallying days) so I intend to keep this way. Thanks for the idea.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

One reason for the 4680 Y removal that I haven’t seen mentioned is simply that the Austin line is currently shutdown, so none are being made at all. Perhaps it was simpler to remove now than show delivery slipping into the future. I hope it is to allow more CT production, but it seems like a...

Is there a ‘back’ button on the PWA? I often look through the list of New postings, and if I see something interesting I click on that thread. Quite surprised this evening sitting on our deck around 8pm, just after dark to see a launch from Vandenberg. Appears to be a military launch by Firefly Aerospace. At what speed does the Air Suspension automatically change to "Very Low"

The default setting is medium/normal, unless you select the toggle to use low as the default. So below 55 you can have it either always low or always medium. At 55+ it will always go low. As mentioned you can raise the suspension at low speed but it will revert as speed increases (very high to...

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

On my MS with the yoke and indicator buttons I found it no problem. Especially with the yoke you tend to keep your hands at 9 and 3 even when making 90 degree turns - and hence the buttons are always right under your thumb. It would only be an issue if you ‘shuffle the wheel between hands’ or...
