Drove P85D over cement parking block

Update: no issues, these cars are tough. Got an alignment just to be safe. All good now.

    Tire patching in SF/Bay Area?

Believe it is when jacking up the car, but maybe I'm wrong.

    Tire patching in SF/Bay Area?

Hey Tesla community, Has anyone in the Bay Area (preferably SF) had to patch a tire on their Tesla? Would be nice to find a place that has some experience with the Model S, though would be interested to hear if you went to a chain place that was gentle enough to handle your baby :) Thanks.

Drove P85D over cement parking block

I actually found this to be the case. I barely touched the accelerator and would have expected to notice hitting the block with my tire first but I didn't. It was just one motion and I was over the block effortlessly.

Steering wheel vibration in dual drive cars

I've noticed a tad more steering wheel vibration in my P85D vs my P85+ at highway speeds over 70, and it's not related to lane warning.

Drove P85D over cement parking block

Yikes. A very uncharacteristic move on my part. I was in a parking lot and apparently my space was the only one with a cement block. So, I drove forward (suspension in low), maybe 2-3 mph and BAM!, my right wheel goes over the cement block and some part the underneath section of my car hits the...

POLL: What brand of car did your Tesla replace?

    P85+ and then P85D replaced a Porsche 911 C2S.

    P85D going 155 mph / 250 km/h with newest .153 Firmware (Video)

How solid/tight did the car feel at high speed? Comparable to BMW, Mercedes etc?

P85D smoother, less front motor whine after 6.2

Yep same here, but gone in 6.2. Can't really figure out why that would be the case.

P85D smoother, less front motor whine after 6.2

Anyone notice this? Don't think it's placebo :)

    Firmware 6.1

Yes similar feeling for me, more like a knocking and getting bumped from behind sensation. Wasn't using TACC though. Feels like there's always something with this car...

    Firmware 6.1

First drive on P85D after .179 and I noticed shuddering at very low speed. Like foot on brake and crawling at 2-3mph. It felt as if the car behind me was bumping me ever so slightly, and It felt like it was coming from the rear motor. Anyone experience this?

    Firmware 6.1

Do you think range mode in sport vs insane is more efficient if you're not doing launches? My guess would be no. I also just completed .179 and will see what's up. I used range for the first time under .167 a few days ago (didn't even know about the power cut off issues) and it performed...

    Is torque sleep perceptible?

Used range mode for the first time on my P85D a few days ago and couldn't really tell.

Will Tesla make the "by the end of January 2015" promise for torque sleep? (P... I've been mostly off-forum since I took delivery of my P85D. What's the brake issue you speak of?

Will Tesla make the "by the end of January 2015" promise for torque sleep? (P85D)

Wow. Really can't believe that after all of the opportunities to communicate range issues, delays due to seats, etc in the last few months, that Tesla execs didn't band together and say "Look, no matter what happens with the range update we promised at the end of Jan, we have got to communicate...

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

I don't believe that a 10 degree increase in Bay Area temperatures results in 10% more efficient driving.

    Agree with this.

Reposting mine. Second time getting blue. Blue/tan next gen/gloss obeche/black headliner/21" grey wheels. Quite the stunner in person.

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

Not sure how one person's analysis is more scientific than another's. Everyone is using the data the car tells them.

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

Got it. Yes I was a bit confused when I picked up my car as to why my range was only 216-217 as I was expecting it to be updated already. 226 is getting close to the 236 my P85+ used to display.

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

Sorry, I guess that marker is 90% then? Whatever that marker is, it's at 226. Not sure why I thought it was 80%.

    It is a P85D :)

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

There is no doubt in my mind it's more efficient. I also did hear more front motor noise at low speeds (decelerating). I saw a 50+ wh/mi difference on same trip, same day, same driving style before and after update. Also, my 80% range went from 217 to 226.

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

OP here: my car was actually in Insane mode at the time.

    P85D efficiency up after 6.1

The logical part of my brain tells me this can't be possible, but here's what my car tells me. Granted, I did use the new adaptive cruise control but generally use regular cruise control anyway. Unless somehow the adaptive version is more efficient. Not sure. In my 300 miles or so usually I get...

P85+ owners, are you disappointed in P85D steering?

So I finally took delivery and I must say I really like the steering. Certainly feels lighter at lower speeds but the improvement in handling is simply amazing. Much better turn in, more 'authentic' feeling. And very nice natural heft at highway speeds. Was worried initially but it's great.

    Tracking P85D delivery thread

I picked up my car on 12/31 from Fremont. Some of you may remember that I went back and forth on whether to order a diff color than my P85+. That one was blue, and I changed my P85D order from red to pearl white back to blue after much deliberation. When I got to delivery, I started to have...

Elon Musk deletes twitter posts about P85D/85D efficiency increases

To be fair, I sent MANY emails to Jerome, and we had some relatively tense exchanges back and forth. Multiply me times 20-50 and you have a bunch of people putting pressure on Tesla to respond, which they can't ignore. I'm glad they did and give them credit but I think owner pressure played a...

Elon Musk deletes twitter posts about P85D/85D efficiency increases

Yup I saw your request and did ask him but didn't get a firm response. But looks like his blog post effectively confirms that there is an update software car that will be used for EPA tests.

Elon Musk deletes twitter posts about P85D/85D efficiency increases

I have an ongoing email thread with Jerome and just asked him again, point blank, whether the 285 miles @ 65 mph claim was valid. His response was to point to the EPA numbers, 242 with 21s and 250 with 19s, and says these numbers are being released by the EPA soon.
