I see a transformer near the left edge of the picture. Is that for this installation? That would be nice to have it installed ahead of time rather than a month, or two, after everything else is done.

That's a good spot for me. We travel to that area from Toledo a number times a year. Normally we stop at the V2 SC at the Sheetz Station in Sheffield, bit a nice V3 (or maybe even a V4 by the time it gets finished?) might be even better.

And it is really just 15 stalls? That's not a regular number as each cabinet supports 4 stalls. I saw somebody raise question earlier in this thread, but don't see any answers.

Pretty amazing that in just over 3-months, this went from nothing to 12 fully operational dispensers!

Maumee is listed as a future site in the Rivian Adventure Network map. (Charging - Rivian) Rivian likely picked Maumee for the same reasons that Tesla did years ago: It is located at the intersection of a major East-West route (I-80/90) and a major North-South route (I-75 (I-475 in this case)).

Those authors are really negligent! To generate enough power to run 100 V3 chargers, you would need at least 30MW of power. That would mean 10 generators that are each the size of a locomotive. When you click on the triangle icon on the map, it shows that this will have just 8 stalls. I see a lot more than 8 in this picture. I assume there will be 16? Maybe an update to the map info is needed?

Great news! Some SC construction seems to drag on and on, but this one just went so fast! Just a couple of months.

A slight delay as an issue was found during the permit review and the plan drawings will need to be resubmitted. Uggh! Apparently the grounding electrode detail was not shown or not correct. This was on 8/1/23. As of 8/20/23, the drawings have still not be updated.

Kind of late, and not particularly helpful, but I tracked down what is supposed to be the electrical permit. No plans and no details with it, just the permit. It was only issued a month ago, so the contractors are moving pretty quickly with this job!

Any thoughts on why they would propose having 20 L2 charging stations at this location? I don't remember seeing that kind of thing at other SCs, unless it is at a destination (parking garage, major mall, etc.) where you would normally leave a car for hours at a time. This parking lot is outside...

This would really blanket Toledo in chargers! North, south, east and west. Too bad Lucas County doesn't have an on-line permit system to search like you can in neighboring Wood County. This makes it hard to tell what the details are, and the status of things.

This week's update: Contractors are all gone. Fencing and Porta Potty are still there. Paving and landscaping that was being worked last week is all done. Still needs some paint stripes. Most of all it needs A TRANSFORMER! (And I guess a meter). There is a nice empty concrete pad to drop place one.

I guess if any site could use some canopies, it would be this one! Glad to see them being installed.

Today, I went to check things out: There was a paving contractor there redoing the blacktop in front of the pedestals. I talked to a worker who said that he thinks "they" (Tesla?) are waiting on them to finish to complete the project. He said they should be done in a week, or so. There is still...

Went by today. Several contractors were busy making terminations in the power cabinet and the other cabinets. Signage is up at each of the stalls. Unfortunately, still no transformer.

Nice progress. 12 stalls all with charging cables attached and ready. There is even mulch behind the stalls! Unfortunately, there is no transformer. You can sort of see where it will go in the photo below. Look for the yellow bollards and orange cones in the background around an empty pad.

Drove by the area today and it is definitely shaping up to be a SC location. There were 12 preformed pedestals there (see photo), and a lot of large diameter conduit. There were holes and trenches dug for the equipment. None of the big Tesla deliveries there yet.

That's the place! With this new one in Northwood/Oregon, plus the two existing SCs, I don't know that Toledo would need another SC anytime soon. Tesla never seems to do much upgrading V2 stations with V3s. I have seen where they add new V3 stalls to existing locations, but not changing one out...

Normally you would see a big green transformer to the left of the SC cabinets but I'm not seeing one. That's not too encouraging!

With the way things have been going, maybe you should plan on taking some summer classes. The stalls might be ready then.

I drove around the location, a Meijer's store, a week ago and saw no signs of construction at all. I checked the CitizenServe permit website 2-3 weeks ago, there have been no updates on permitting since the fall. No site plans are on file.

We are now in day 4 of this issue. The app is showing only 2 of the 8 stalls are up. I drove by on Monday, April 3, and saw no sign of any work. I'm not aware of any power outages in the area. Tesla techs are usually more responsive to issues.

That's possible. Due to the busy service plaza, you can't pull straight in, as the trailer would block traffic in the service plaza. If the parking spots were empty, the driver could pull up parallel with the island and charge.

@JamesEarl15: I took a ride to West Unity today to get an update. The big reason for the holdup is NO TRANSFORMER!! And as we all know, no transformer means no power, which means no charging!! Everything else looks totally done. Chargers with cables (no MagicDocks), signage, bollards, stripes on...

That would explain why there seemed to be great progress last year, and then everything in Ohio either slowed, or even came to a halt. Thanks for that insight!

To go between Moab UT and Page AZ (273-miles), making a short stop at Blanding seems like it would be a necessity. Shouldn't this SC need to be bigger? Crazy busy? Do people take a different route?

@DriveMe Maybe the potential for federal grant money is slowing down the completion of the 6 installations along the Ohio Turnpike? There was great progress last year and then it really just started to drag.
