Leaving Phone in Car while at work

If you do slide in into a pouch, you should definitely turn the phone off (or put in airline mode). If you don't, the phone will try to connect to the closest tower, increasing the power until it can. When you come back after work, you may find your battery dead!

Non-OEM Rear Control Arms bushings with lower NVH

Is there a better bushing than Tesla's OEM bushing for Redwood's FPX - OEM Rubber Bushing Adjustable Rear Camber & Toe Control Arms that would still have low NVH but last longer for regular driving? Which ones would those be? Thanks.

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

I didn't read you referencing Redwood Motorsports, which use Ohlins based coilovers. They are considered at the top for comfort, albeit at a higher price than MPP or UP. I placed my order for them, along with rear camber and toe control arms, but am still waiting for the order. Check them out...

The perfect Model 3 emergency jack?

The curb weight of the Tesla Model 3 is 3,862 to 4,048 lbs, and the Model Y is 3,920 to 4,416 lbs. AS I understand it, you want the jack to be rated 3/4 of the car's weight or more. For the Tesla Model Y, 3/4 of the weight is for 3312 lbs, so it is a little low. With that jack rated for 1.5...

Do Android phones require Tesla App to be opened for the key lock to work?

My Android (Samsung Note 8, Samsung S9) phone key lock have all stopped operating with my 2021 Tesla Model Y LR (over April). Maybe it was the last FSD update? Anyway, maybe 1 in 20 times the car does open. But most times, I need to use my key cards or Tesla App to open the car and start it...

Leaving Phone in Car while at work

You definitely want to keep your phone on ice, as flash memory data retention & lifetime drops in half for every 5C (9F) increase in temperature. A car inside temperature can easily exceed 60C (140F). If you put it inside the glove box, you should probably put a pin on opening the glove box...

    Lane centering adjustable?

I feel my FSD lane centering is dead center on the lane if there are clear markings on both side. Most people on the roadway tend to go a bit more to the left I believe. If this is the case, with multi-lanes, you want everyone to follow the same rule. However, if near the center lane on an...

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

Hopefully, that is not the case. But unless it's a hardware-based problem, I suspect software could easily defend this.

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

Based upon the article dates and the links, this problem seems to be identified in June 2022. A simple solution is to require a PIN or master password every time a new access device is registered.

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

I'm pretty sure that Telsa would have immediately resolved that vulnerability immediately when they became aware of it.

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

When I had my 2016 Chevy Volt, I averaged 7000 miles electric and 5000 miles gas each year. But now I own a Tesla MYLR, and it's all electric. But it is surprising that people wouldn't plug their hybrid cars in!
  20. miracj

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

My point is not that coilovers will take away from the factor of using the single pedal incorrectly, but that a component to the nausea might also be the suspension, which on my MYLR, is rather bumpy, especially in the back seat. Eliminating one may help. But eliminating both would be even better!
  21. miracj

MYP ‘22 aka The Vomit Comet

Attacking the nause from a different direction, consider putting in some coilovers (Unplugged Performance, Mountain Pass Performance or Redwood Motorsports) comfort/GT etc to improve the suspension feel. It might set you back $3k to $5k but should be worth it. But as others say, just don't...

Model Y LR vs P comfort

That's why I said to drive it for 1500 miles first and see if it seems bumpy to them!
  25. miracj

Model Y LR vs P comfort

Consider spending $3000 to $5000 for a coilover suspension from Redwood Motorsports (Ohlins), Mountain Pass Performance, or Unplugged Performance, after you get your car and run it about 1500 miles or more if it seems to bumpy for you.

Single folding side mirror from touch screen?

If the garage is that tight, The best way to do it is to place some markers (paint, tape, etc.) on the garage floor to match up to the white lines of the backup camera, and maybe a line matching up to when to stop going backwards.

How about a drive in movie mode?

drive-in movie Noun mainly US /ˈdraɪv.ɪn ˈmuː.vi/ Definition: A location for people to watch movies that are fuzzy, low brightness, with crappy audio, and crappy food concessions while sitting in one's car. Sentence: Last week I watched "Casablanca" at the drive-in movie. 😆

How about a drive in movie mode?

Adding to the zoom idea, if you can pull each corner of the movie screen to the corners of the Tesla screen would correct for keystone of the image, making it look like you are viewing straight on.

That's comparing apples and oranges. The model X (and S) uses Air Suspension.

RedwoodMotorsports Ohlins Vs. Unplugged Performance Luxury Vs. Mountain Pass

I've read a lot of reviews here on these coilovers, and the indication seem to be that all work well. On the other hand, it seems that you get what you pay for as well. Mountain Pass seems to have a better presence on this forum and use KWs. Redwood seems to have the advantage of being able to...

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

I'm about the same age, and I bought my MY LR with FSD as my forever car, since I either will be dead and gone, or not able to drive myself (Come on FSD!) as I get to some advanced age before the car is antiquated or dead. I have not yet been able to add some coilovers for my wife's (mostly)...

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

Most EVs currently available will cost more or are not really available than Tesla. The model X and S have air suspension, but that is probably out of your budget range. And if it not a Tesla, where will you charge on a long trip (Tesla will open their chargers to others in the future)...

MYLR goes right on highway entrance lanes on Autopilot

This happens to me as well, but now I only use Auto-pilot when operating in the lanes to the left of the entrance/exit lanes. Tesla should use the left side's lane marking as the reference to position the car in the right lane. It's amazing that Tesla hasn't made this easy fix.

    Got scammed by member

Good idea, except I would use today's newspaper, just like a kidnapping photo showing the front page headlines. I'm not sure if a local or National daily newspaper (like USA today) would be best. Include an image of the item and of the seller himself with the newspaper. A legitimate sale...

Questions about Unplugged Performance vs Mountain Pass Performance suspension and installation.

From Redwood, they said, "When it comes to damper repair, the process is to pull the suspension from the car, break the shock towers down to the raw dampers, and then send them out either directly to Ohlins USA and get the valving done through them, or we can facilitate the process and fill out...

    How to set cruise distance?

I wish it was specified in seconds following the car in front, then it would be independent of speed (unless that is really what 1 to 7 mean - if that is true, then give us the real number). As for radar, that is no longer active on any Tesla that has it, as far as I know. Is that wrong?
  41. miracj

    Coilovers. Anything else needed?

I was told by one of the coilovers manufacturers that sway bars would add more NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), albeit better handling. So if you are looking for a more comfortable ride, don't add them.

Redwood Ohlins coilovers vs KW Variant 3 coilovers

An advantage to the air suspension from Tesla is ideally it wouldn't use the frunk space and would be tied into the User Interface of Tesla. That said, I think the appearance of options for air in the Beta FSD software is just one of those things that will go away.
  44. miracj

Redwood Ohlins coilovers vs KW Variant 3 coilovers

I would have included MPP, except they say they don't use KWs, even though everyone says it is (including some statements I believe from MPP saying they do). It is also not clear (at least to me) if MPP is using TVR-A tech or not, so I just said KW V3 to be clear, Add in the fact that Tesla...

Redwood Ohlins coilovers vs KW Variant 3 coilovers

What is the difference between the KW Variant 3 TVR-A (Twin Valve Rebound - Adjustable) technology for their coilovers and the Redwood Motorsports Ohlins with Dual Flow Valve (DFV) technology? Redwood Motorsports definitely have a comfort version, but it's not clear if the KW coilovers are...

Mountain Pass Coilover 6 Month Review

What do you think about MPP's cyber arms, versus Redwood not having an equivalent I believe. I'm not even sure what the cyber arms do. Are they useful for ride comfort? Can you mix the MPP cyber arm with Redwood's rear toe-in, camber and coilovers?

What do yo do for a flat tire?

I agree that you want to have as much safety margin as you can, but the height of the chassis ends up being a problem if you have anything but a low-profile jack. This is because of the clearance with a fully flat tire, The weight of the MYLR is about 4400 lbs (4419 for Performance). 2/3 of...
