Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S & X) w/ EVPE shims

-1.0 is a much better number for street use. Will improve the life of the tires. So many articles site the weight of the EV as a reason for excessive tire wear, but really it's the factory alignment settings that are causing this. Not just camber but toe as well. The rear toe in the above chart...

Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S & X) w/ EVPE shims

Looking at the camber in the before and current numbers. They are the same. Toe changed, but not camber. So the shims did not change the camber? I used shims to adjust camber in a Solo Race car. The shims were washers. Just watched the video, and saw initial camber was -2.4, so not sure where...

    My wheel literally fell off

"Car was taken into service 6 months ago" for routine maintenance. What service was done on the car? You would think basic suspension inspection would have found a bad ball joint.

    Dreaded front suspension creaking sound

Nice quick fix that should give some relief, but probably not too long. As you have mentioned, not too much grease inside that boot. I found that to be the case when I did my fix over a year ago in my posted fix. Not a 15 minute fix but my fix took about 1/2 hr each side. The boot has a...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Best one to get. You'll also need a new wall plate to fit this. It is larger than the cheaper outlets, and thus need a larger opening faceplate.

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Replace the outlet. Charging rates throttles down once charging senses overheat situation. 16a seems to be default number. Make sure adapter plug is fully inserted into brick charger. It problem increases with temp, another indication overheating at plug.

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

You are saying your car only has 172 mile range. Doesn't sound correct. My son has a short range M3, and he's seeing around 265mi for 100% SOC.

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

The one time I charged at Buckeye, it was slow also. Saw another response mentioned that V3 charger's now in place, so that would the one to use. When I go to Rocky Point, I bypass all that construction near Buckeye, by using 303 south, then working west to 8. Not sure if that's an option for...

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

When you bring up SC location and click on site, you see charge rate, speed, and number of chargers available. I use that information sometimes to charge early to bypass a busier and more expensive charger. I still thinks Tesla's Nav picks most expensive charging rate choices on trips, when...

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

When I charge at Gila Bend I like to get to around 200-220 miles showing. It's around 145 miles to RP, and that usually gets me there with around 12-15% SOC. That's a comfort number for me. The road is a little rough and somewhat uphill in certain areas. I have a place in RP and use a side by...

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

The one time I stopped at Buckeye charger, Fast Food place would not even allow use of restroom unless buying food. Had to go to Cracker Barrel for restroom stop. I drive to Rocky Point often, and use the chargers at Gila Bend. Nice V3 chargers, and usually there only about 15 minutes to finish...

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

Did a similar trip from Prescott to Anaheim in my 18M3p. I can tell you the first stop your map listed just west of Phoenix, is at fast food place that has a slow charger. Used it once to try it, and that was it. I remember maybe 150kw, but not sure. I can make Prescott to Ca AZ border charger...

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

I never got stranded with any of my ICE batteries over the years. I considered replacing them every 4-5 years routine maintenance cost. Getting ready to replace tires on my RV as well, even thought they have a lot of tread left. They are approaching 7 years. Again routine maintenance. With...

Big price drop - LR down $10k, Plaid down $21k

Yes, that was what is was. I took the 5K. Offer only was available for a short time. Although the offer was for the bae model M3P owners (stealth cars). Tesla eliminated the Stealth option and made the PUP option 5K cheaper, making it the same price as the Stealths. Stealth owners complained and...

    New tires at 21,000 miles

Not always. I received a tread wear warranty on my OEM Michelins MXM's with the help of Discount Tire. Tires were at 2/32 after 21k on my M3P. Got me I believe $200 credit toward a replacement set. That was 2 years ago.

Another successful trip CO to OH

So was the $320 total cost for the 2500 miles or the 1253 miles shown?
  18. J

Only 12A on NEMA 10-30 outlet

usually when only getting 12 amp on a 30 amp plug, means overheating at the plug. Since you got Tesla adapter, I would take a good look at the plug. Cheap plug not advised, and connections may not be tight. Should be able to get 24 amps with that setup.

Another successful trip CO to OH

Traveling with the Tesla is not a problem. Done three cross country trips in the last three years. One thing I did notice over the last couple of years, is the cost to charge has gone up considerably. Looking at this trip 1253 miles with a total cost of $320. I just looked at what my Prius would...

    Vehicle Range

Rarely does anyone get the listed range at 100%. Mine was M3P was listed at 310, best I ever saw was 306. You probably won't like the average %5 drop in range the first year either. My 18 with 46k lost about %10 range with 274 showing at 100%.

    Uneven Stance w/ Coilovers

One other thing that will alter ride height is how control arms are torqued. If control arms need to be removed or loosen for installation, and then re torqued with suspension not at ride hight, that can change this. I aways torque suspension parts at ride hight on level surface.

How far out does charging handle stick out when charging? (Tight parking spot.)

According to Google, cars in Taiwan are left hand drive, which is same side your charging port is located. I would say if you have enough room to get in and out of the car, your charging plug sticking out will not be a problem.

Anyone experience this sound? And what is up with the $72 fee to take it in to the SC and have them check it?

Just had my 18 M3P in for a similar sound. Appointments seem to have a charge indicated as part of the process. Once found under warranty, no charge is applied. My noise was the 5 way valve on the climate control. Made this type of noise when waking the car up in the AM, or if it sat for a...

Replaced tires at 15k, checked alignment. Wow, it was off!

Good job on rebate from Michelin. Sounds like Discount Tire was involved. I got a credit when my OEM Michelins needed replaced at 22k. DT did that for me. Went with a BFG tire that is working well. 23k 5/32 left. Tire burning sessions can only be done in track mode, so that something you can...

Replaced tires at 15k, checked alignment. Wow, it was off!

Front Toe out issue probably cause for premature wear on tires. When ever you lower a car, you will normally see more negative camber and more toe out. Camber up front a little aggressive but not crazy. Rotating tires at a good interval should help even out camber tire wear. Nice...

    Older Tesla owners

I'm a senior also.My main reason for buying the car was the performance, plus already had Solar so refueling cost was 0. Another reason due to being a senior, was for the adrenalin rush. Us seniors need a good jolt now and then, and this car does it for me.

Coast to Coast Road Trip (LA --> ATL)

Not sure if high heat was the main factor. I just drove from Mexico to Prescott AZ. Temps averaged about 110 on that trip. Have done this trips quite a few times, and energy use was close to cooler drives. Main drain was the hills and rough roads. The drive from Kingman to Grand Canyon has a lot...

Help! What do I do with a flat tire?

In the past loaner wheels were not really available and was not an option. If towed into service center, most likely SC will want to replace 2 tires, if available, rather than repair. Discount tire good option, but have to get there. I travel with a plug kit and a 12v air pump, plus green goop...

Help! What do I do with a flat tire?

have any roadside service, AAA, Car insurance plan? If so call them, maybe can remove nail, plug it and be good enough to be on your way, or at least to a Tire store. Since nail is dead center, plug it, reinflate and should be good.

Later this year, Tesla will begin production of Supercharger equip. that will enable non-Tesla EV drivers in North America to use Tesla Superchargers

I just returned from a 6k cross country trip. I ran into 2 stops where I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a charger to be available. Then the charge rate was slow due to all chargers being used. Opening the SC up to non Tesla's may become a problem for those that travel with the cars.

Rough probability of battery failure prior to warranty expiring?

You have a 6 year old battery with 214k on it. Batteries cost what $150. You got more than what many would expect to get from an OEM battery. Do you wait till tires fail before replacing them? Just basic routine maintenance would be replacing the 6 year old battery before it leaves you...

    2018 Model 3 "stealth performance" ... that actually isn't

I'm considering selling my 18 Stealth and am interested in what the current pricing for these cars are. Did you get any warranty with the purchase since these cars are reaching their basic warranty limits. One way to verify the P status is to make a pass in the 1/4 mile. Mine is a 11.4 car so...

    First Road Trip

Just finished a 6K cross country trip, and I can assure you staying at hotels that offer free charging is worthwhile. Every hotel I stayed at offered free charging, and I left with 100% charge. Extends driving to first SC stop, and I would agree it saves at least one stop after leaving hotel...

Supercharging now costs more than gas (one owner's experience)

I'm in the middle of a 6k cross country trip and have spent around $150 so far on Supercharging. Tesla Chargers Now in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) Mexico

I recommend bringing your portable charger that came with the car and your nema 14-50 plug. Supercharging newbie question

I bet this SuperCharger does have Peak hours rates. I know many SC in Ca have this and your cost will vary by quite a bit by charging at peak hour. Bring up the SC on your Tesla nav map and click on the SC. It should give you the rate, and if peak hour rates are being used.

    Supercharger Pricing Map?

My Prius get's an average 50mpg ever since I had it. 120k now. So using 35mpg may be modest. Solar at home installed 11.5 years ago. Cost 30k. Supercharger Pricing Map?

Using your example I see your point. I recently drove my M3P to my condo in Rocky Point, Mx. I left with 100% charge, charged in Gila Bend, Az for around 10$. That got me to Rocky Point. At the condo we have 2 Tesla chargers, free for Owners and renters. Returned with same stop and charge cost...

    Supercharger Pricing Map?

Question on this where there is a pricing difference between two close Superchargers. Also on the more expensive rate charger, does...
