Tritium to deliver 10,000 EV DC fast chargers to the UK by 2030

If you can’t charge at home, it’s far easier to leave you car charging at the train station or the office without having to think about it. Going out of your way to sit at a rapid charger for 40 minutes isn’t convenient (and will likely be far more expensive).

    Tesla Super Charger conspiracy

I have noticed a huge increase in preconditioning this winter, compared to last. It’s got to the point where I just remove supercharging stops from the navigation - otherwise it adds nearly £10 onto a long drive. I’ve also noticed a big drop in winter efficiency at the start of long drives...

Starting to get expensive to charge….

How many kWh did you charge? At 250 Wh/mi (which would be pretty efficient for winter) you’re using 125 kWh, which is £75 at standard supercharger prices. Obviously the total cost will be cheaper depending on how much you charged at home. For me, anything over 50p per kWh works out more...

    Nightmare! (Supercharger queues)

I’ve done the same thing at various Ionity stations. I used to avoid them due to the price difference but Ionity (via Bonnet) has been similar or cheaper than most SuCs for a while now.

Starting to get expensive to charge….

Drove from London -> Yorkshire and back over Christmas. For the first time ever supercharging was more expensive than my previous petrol car.

Updated car - autopilot no longer works at night?

I updated my car this week for the first time in months A few good features but the most significant is that I can no longer use autopilot at night, even on the motorway. The car just says ‘speed reduced due to poor visibility’ and starts braking down from 70mph. Is this something everyone...

My SR+ vs LR loaner driving experience - wow

I don’t think that’s a SR / LR issue… I’ve driven both and couldn’t tell a difference in ride comfort (or lack of!)

Had a 2020 SR+ as a loaner recently and thought I'd share my thoughts, comparing against my 21 LR

My 2022 SR+ gets around 220 - 240 miles in the middle of winter on the motorway. I’ve never wanted to drive for more than that distance without stopping for a break so I’m very happy with that range.

    Winter Range

Yes - one of the lucky late 2021 models that has the bigger battery.

    Winter Range

What I actually get. I usually charge by 10% though. I’ve dipped a bit below that on very cold/windy days but in your typical winter weather it’s usually around 240.

    Winter Range

I easily get 240+ in my SR+ through winter. I don’t speed but generally drive at 70. Might be something wrong with your car?

    Phantom braking to be investigated

UK cars are all still radar enabled

Comparison of M3 RWD and M3LR AWD?

A major benefit of the RWD is being able to charge to 100% daily. I originally wanted the LR but after test driving it the only real benefit for me was a marginal range improvement (comparing 90% of the LR To 100% of the SR) and better speaker. The acceleration is undoubtedly stronger but I...

Exclusive 50kw charging - battery damage

Hi everyone Does anyone have any personal experience or other information on the long term impact of using almost exclusively 50Kw charging on a MIC model 3? I have a cheap 50kw charger outside my house, and cheap 7kw charging near the office. Personally I’d rather use the 50kw charger so...

1000+ miles of public charging - thoughts

Exactly this - there are many locations with 7kw or 22kw chargers where the whole point is to leave your car plugged in. For example at train stations, or city centre car parks near offices. I completely agree that leaving your car plugged into a rapid charger is wrong - but in my opinion the...
