Good question, I'm not sure. Anyway, the problem also occurs when the car is on the home WiFi network. Also, if the car is awake and on LTE (e.g. when my wife is driving) then the app communicates with it just fine.

Usually yes, but this is happening even when the internet connection is fine. Also, if the car is already awake, then the app communicates with the car just fine. The problem is that that the car cannot be woken up from the app.

With this particular problem there are no server errors shown; the app simply shows the spinning wheel for trying to connect indefinitely. Also, the two button reboot changes nothing! Remote Service wrote that it is "currently under investigation with Tesla engineers"...

So I've taken a look, and in fact the US VW configurator is completely different to the Swiss one. US configurator is more streamlined, the models have much more comprehensive standard equipment, and cheaper than Switz. Also, looks like here you can only have AWD if you get the GTX version.
