Precisely the point. It is only some that don't have phone on them. Why build something and offer it to the vast majority that probably won't use/need it. Instead charge the ones that need it as an accessory. Which is exactly what Tesla has done.

No this was well before VIN assignment, I called to check if I could convert mine to delivery and was told Brent Cross was no longer an option and given a few other choices to pick from and picked Thorpe Park. They could only look at delivery once I have been invited to schedule a pickup.

order/RN to VIN in a day? If yes, that is cool. But no, there isn't a sure shot way to link VIN to a ship unless Tesla parts with that information. We do have the 2021 Shipping Movements thread that is doing some excellent 'detective' work to deduce that relationship and is worth following.
