    FSD Beta v11.x

So I've been on 11.3.6 for however long we all have (>1 month I'm pretty sure), but last week it changed it's lane selection behavior at two locations on my daily commute. Prior to last week, 11.3.6 chose the wrong lane 100% of the time. Since early last week (I think it was Monday's commute)...

    FSD Beta v11.x

A spot???? Like only one spot where it doesn't work???? Must be nice. There's only a few spots where I can enable it unless I'm stopped or going slow (also if it was already on it stays on). It does flicker the icon occasionally, so I now spend most of my commute trying over and over to...

    FSD Beta v11.x

11.3.3 pushed to my 3 this morning, and I took it for a ~40 minute drive. As always, I had it on Chill mode. First impressions: Overall: - It's better than 10.69.x for sure, but fails to address my (by far) #1 cause of disengagements: inappropriate blinkers. So my disengagement rate overall...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Complacency kills. As long as the developers of the system warn that it can do "the wrong thing at the worst time", the behavior and attitude you described is extremely irresponsible. Don't become a statistic irrational regulators could use to shut down the biggest potential improvement in...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Agreed. At first when I saw Elon's announcement this morning that FSDb is available to anyone (who bought it in certain regions anyway), I was horrified considering all the mistakes I've seen it make, and knowing that a portion of the people that don't have it are probably not the most...

    FSD V11 Discussion - First Released 11/11/22 at 11:11PM - Maybe

I made a point to look yesterday at a couple of points on my commute: - "Changing lanes to follow route" when moving out of the correct lane 0.3 miles before an upcoming turn - something like "Moving into faster lane" when moving into a lane that ends in 100 ft (after several signs and road...

    FSD V11 Discussion - First Released 11/11/22 at 11:11PM - Maybe

If that's true, I'm really going to miss FSD. It's amazing on single lane roads, but changes lanes at random literally every half mile on multi-lane roads in my car, so I'd have to just disable it completely if it is the same system on the highway.

    FSD Beta 10.69

I got 10.69.2.3 today, which I didn't expect because I was in the last batch to get 10.69.2.2, so it sure seems like it could be random who gets it when. I went out for a quick drive, and didn't notice any obvious difference vs. 10.69.2.2. I'll get a much better feel for it after a full...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Nice! Mine usually stops for my neighbors. So excited to not have those delays in my drive anymore! (kidding)
  13. G

    FSD Beta 10.69

Agreed 100%. I had this behavior on 10.12.2 so I stopped letting FSD even attempt roundabouts on that version, for fear of exactly that situation. Good to know 10.69.2 can do it too. I haven't seen 10.69.2 signal right incorrectly yet, but it does turn the left blinker on/off randomly...

How can I buy replacement caliper spring clips?

I'm about to do my annual caliper cleaning/lubrication, and I've seen several sources that say the rear caliper spring clips have a tendency to fail and often need to be replaced while you're in there anyway. It seems like a super cheap stamped/bent metal part, but I'm having a heck of a time...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Top good/bad highlights of my experience after 4 days with 10.69.2: Good: I've had zero (yes literally zero) instances of it trying to cross the double yellow line and use the oncoming travel lane to pass queued cars at stop signs and traffic lights. It's rare for me to go a full day without...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Ohio has this (not-so) brilliant design on a 55 mph highway. The left lane slightly splits off from the right two and a curb separates them, then you come around a corner to see 4 lights hanging over 3 lanes, none of which line up with the lanes. The right two lights are always green. When...

    FSD Beta 10.69

I've seen it show relatively rapid changes in SOC both down AND up when I leave it parked at an airport. I suspect it's factoring in temperature of... something? Ambient air? battery pack itself? I took a ~5-day trip this summer and left it in a middle level of a parking garage in Detroit...

    FSD Beta 10.69

FYI it should be pretty easy to open the frunk on an unlocked M3 or one where the 12V battery is totally dead. This YouTube video shows how easy it is with a regular 9V battery, although page 18 of the Emergency Response Guide from Tesla says you should use a 12V power source (like another...

You go to TomTom MyDrive, and on the bottom right corner of the map view is a "Report a Map change" button. You might have to close the "accept cookies" bar which initially eclipses it. I think you have to create a free account and log in, but it's pretty painless.

    FSD Beta 10.69

I had some incorrect speed limits near me, and after I reported them to TomTom maps (and TomTom accepted my changes), the next map update on my Model 3 reflected the fixes. I've seen this with a few changes I've submitted and a couple of map data updates now, and it's worked every time. I also...

    FSD Beta 10.69

One specific example of a particularly non-trivial driving policy problem even with decent perception is detecting if a stopped vehicle in your lane is parked vs. waiting for vehicles or an obstruction ahead of it. In my daily commute, FSD averages roughly 3x per day where it tries to use the...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I'd be happy if it can go straight through intersections without turning on a left or right blinker, or straight on a multi-lane road without arbitrary lane changes every half mile
  25. G

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Elon said in the shareholder meeting presentation last week something to effect of 10.13 is getting so good it should really be called 10.69. See about 8 minutes into the presentation: So I think he's saying what we knew as 10.13 would be released in basically "two weeks"
  26. G

    FSD Beta 10.13

Same - rural roads are great for me except for phantom blinkers approaching intersections where the road splits into turn lanes and a straight lane. The areas I find entirely un-usable are multi-lane roads, where my car (on FSD's "Chill" profile) can't go a half mile without changing lanes...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Same. It's really been a negative impact on my overall quality of life, as I'll now be spending 10% of my waking hours opening and closing the app until I finally (maybe) get the update
  28. G

    FSD Beta 10.11

I have all of those issues, but also my car still tries to go around queued cars at stop signs and traffic lights 10-15 times per day.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Yeah I also had my first day on 10.11.2 today, and I was less than impressed. I suppose there were fewer whimsical hesitations and mailbox people, but way more random blinkers for no reason, and it really struggled to stay in the lane on any kind of curve in the road. Even on straight sections...

Only twice?! I'm stuck on 10.10.2 and I had this happen 4-5 times yesterday alone, which is fairly typical for my experience with FSD, and I didn't even count FSD trying to cross the double yellow line on most right turns, or veering towards the double yellow for perceived mailbox-shaped people...

FSD Beta v10.11.2 - Here We Go Again!

Maybe, but I think it's part of a changed strategy we're seeing lately. My theory is they are trying to get away from the "two steps forward, one step back" we've seen on lots of releases. I suspect they recognize that if they ever get to true robot taxis (above ground), any steps back aren't...
  33. G

    FSD Beta 10.11

Maybe, but it's not necessarily as easy as it sounds to do that comparison testing because it's not a blind test, so there may be biases in the data. For example, I take over for situations I know FSD will perform poorly at if I'm not on the latest version, and I don't bother emailing Tesla...

I want to let my friend drive but not affect my safety score. How?

Your best bet is to do it on a day when you don't need to drive anywhere, and only let your friend drive a few miles. Because SS is calculated by mileage-weighting each day's score, you'll do minimal damage with only a few miles on a given day.
  35. G

    FSD Beta 10.11

Same. I assume it's from me refreshing it 500 times a day trying to will 10.11 to roll out faster
  36. G

    FSD Beta 10.11

The fact that the rollout seems to have stopped with only a fraction of FSD users receiving it. That pattern in the past was typically followed by a .1 or .2 release apparently to fix some issues they saw in early rollout

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

There's no way they are anywhere near only 1 intervention per 100 miles on city streets. I have a disengagement every 1.25 miles or so on 10.10.2, plus a go-pedal tap intervention every few miles. That said, roughly 80% of my disengagements are things that don't happen on the highway: -...

Poll : Which is better - FSD Beta 10.10 vs 10.9/10.8

I've seen this in every version so far, including 10.10.2 (I was in the initial batch of 100's). I checked my sent messages, and I can confirm I emailed Tesla about it when it happened to me my first time on October 12th.

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

No that's what I'm saying - that only works sometimes in my experience. I get it when it's already halfway through the maneuver that it won't cancel, but there are times that it signals early enough I push the stalk halfway and it keeps the blinker on, then I push it again and it stays on, and...
  42. G

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

Chill. And I wasn't talking about cancelling and it trying again - it has no effect half of the time I try to cancel with the blinker stalk by pushing as if to signal the opposite direction it's currently indicating. I do also get it trying again every couple of hundred meters, but that's a...
  43. G

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

Cancelling it only works about 50% of the time for me when using the blinker stalk in the opposite direction. I've had many times where I used the stalk literally 3 times trying to stop it, and it carries on trying to change lanes anyway until I disengage FSD with the brake pedal or holding the...

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

This would be great if it were reliable, but there are several reasons FSD can't use this approach - Many (I think most) departments don't have such a system installed on their emergency vehicles, especially in rural areas where volunteer fire departments struggle to afford even the most basic...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

10.9 does this to me almost daily. When in a particularly long queue or stopped for a while, it does it over and over again. I always send a snapshot, and if I'm feeling extra patient, I'll keep re-engaging so it will try again and I can capture additional snapshots. I used to send emails too...

Does Tesla have a big math problem?

While I generally agree with you, I think it's also possible it's not so cut and dry in practice. For example, maybe you have a high res camera, but you don't actually run any software on it unless a low res camera predicts "maybe that's a sign off in the distance there", and then you only do...

    FSD Beta 10.10 Release Notes

I wonder if miles driven on FSD make a difference. My longer-than-average commute is all non-highway, so I probably drive more miles per day with FSD engaged than most other FSD users, and I've typically been among the first big wave for each version. However, I had to travel for most of the...

    10.9 FSD

Weird - FSD rolls every stop for me when no other cars are around (and the rest of the things are true: <30 mph speed limits, etc.), and I'm always set to the Chill FSD profile. Usually it's around 2-3 mph, but sometimes 5-6 mph. I don't understand why the NHTSA is calling this a safety issue...

    10.9 FSD

I suspect they are careful to keep it 99% a one-way street, lest we (or a court) ever determine we are "employees" acting at the direction of the company, which might make us entitled to compensation, or could change Tesla's liability if there was any kind of damage/injury that could have been...
